Are you interested in creating a business? At Startup Weekend Kabul, Afghans will come together over three days to pitch their ideas and form teams to market their businesses. Selected participants will obtain invaluable mentorship from top business leaders in Afghanistan and develop the skills to bring business ideas to life!

Form Teams
Teams start forming and discussing ideas

Begin Work
Start to formalize teams and take an inventory of skills. Be honest, and direct about what resources and skills are needed for the weekend. You may stay and work as late as the venue will allow

Sanzar Kakar
Chairman at AHG

Mr. Sanzar Kakar graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Engineering and from Warwick Business School with a Master’s in Business Administration. Mr. Kakar founded Afghanistan Holding Group on 4 March 2009 in Kabul. AHG is providing professional business services including taxation, auditing, research and technology. AHG employs more than 180 full-time Afghans, calling on an additional pool of 800 short term consultants across all 34 provinces to serve over 220 international clients in Afghanistan.

Akbar Arghandiwal

Akbar Arghandiwal is an Afghan American and an experienced executive with intimate knowledge and expertise in Afghanistan and in the region. He came to the region after 30 years living in the United States to seek opportunities and to help his fellow Afghans as well as to contribute to the reconstruction and rebuilding of Afghanistan. 

In the past decade, Akbar has served as CEO, Managing Director, or President of the following companies:

Naikbeen Naikpay

Naikbeen Naikpay is the founder and CEO of SmartMaktab, a company that digitizes the School Education Subjects and aims to make learning quicker, easier, fun and interesting with multimedia rich content.  Prior to founding SmartMaktab, He was the Technical Manager at RN Technologies. 
Naikbeen Naikbeen holds a BA degree in Psychology & Educational Science from Kabul University and a Diploma in Information Technology. He loves Teaching, Blogging, Reading, and Gaming.

He is a manager and Co-Founder at Homestay, where they provide tutoring (Private/Home Tuition) and educational consulting services. Previously, Shayan Worked as an M&E officer for PESCO organization. He graduated with honors from Kabul University with a BA degree in Public Policy and Administration.

Za Rif Bakhtiar

Mohammad Zarif Safa Bakhtyari the soul of positive changes, who believe in possibility and positive image of live. Zarif has graduated from the faculty of economics, Kabul University and he has a diploma from Servant Leadership from Global International Leadership Institute (GLI) and the member of Young Leader Forum FRIEDRICH EBERT STIFTUNG (EFS). In addition, during the university was working as a volunteer with different youth groups, organizing initiatives and events to bringing positive messages for all people in around. For instance, he worked with Skills Development and Improvement Organization (SDIO), National Center for Policy and Research (NCPR) at Kabul University, Lincoln Center of Kabul University, AIESEC, and Social Summit. Therefore, Zarif is one of the key players of an active young leader who are working to build a strong relationship between Afghanistan people, and promote their knowledge. Such as, he with a group of people established a team by the name of The Thousand Face of Book Reader that provide books in soft and hart copy and share with young people. The main aim of the program is promoting the reading skills of young people as active souls of the society. In addition, he is the founder of Kabul Dialogue Club (KDC), which is focused on quality education and peace concept at Afghanistan. Besides, working as a volunteer, he has an official job and he worked with NCPR as a research assistant, Girls Can Inspire Organization as program manager, and Afghanistan Civil Service Institute. However, right now he is working as a project assistant at AKS Service Group in capacity building projects and English instructor at Kabul-e-Masier Institute. Moreover, Zarif is the community leader of Techsters which lunch Startup Weekend events around the world, in Afghanistan. For instance, he with others active and young leaders committed to run the next Startup Weekend by the name of Startup Weekend University in August 2018 at Kabul University.

Mohammad Yusuf Ayubi

I am Yusuf Ayubi. The first award winning team member at Startup Weekend 2016. I have a combined education in business and science, and my varied professional experiences in leadership programs, Startup events, MUNs and debate sessions piqued my interest to found Young Afghanistan For Peace Debate Club online, which is a peace and capacity building venture. Now, I am volunteering at Startup weekend. It's an entrepreneurial and exciting event in which you will find numerous opportunities to network, learn and develop. I am hoping to create my own eco-manufacturing company through which I could earn and serve my fellow citizens in a holistic way.
