Startup Weekend is an intense 54 hour event which focuses on building a web or mobile application which could form the basis of a credible business over the course of a weekend.
The weekend brings together people with different skill sets - primarily software developers, graphics designers and business people - to build applications and develop a commercial case around them. Projects pitched should be within the field of ICT and e-business.

Deputy CEO at Tenmou - The Bahrain Business Angels Holding Company

Ali Mahmood is head of legal and finance and deputy CEO at Tenmou for the past 5 years. Ali handles Financial Control, Management, Budgeting, along with assisting high potential entrepreneurs in setting up their own business and providing financial mentorship within Tenmou's portfolio companies.


Sheikh Abdulla K. Al Khalifa
Director Corporate Communications & Investor Relations at Zain Bahrain

Shaikh Abdulla is Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations at Zain Bahrain. He also oversees the company’s Corporate Sustainability initiatives. With more than 15 years of experience in Telecoms and IT, Shaikh Abdulla has held key positions covering strategy, communications, finance, technical, legal and compliance aspects of the field. Before joining Zain, he was Executive Director for Technology & Innovation at the University College of Bahrain where he mainly focused on transforming the university into a 21st century academic institution.   Prior to joining the university, Shaikh Abdulla was co-founder of Lightspeed Communications, a Bahrain-based telecoms start-up focusing on broadband and VoIP services. He successfully managed in launching the Kingdom’s first dual-play voice and internet service back in 2007. He also successfully partnered with Jordan Telecom, which acquired 51% of the start-up company, thereby becoming an affiliate of a multinational telecoms corporation, France Telecom Group.   Prior to starting up the telecoms company, Shaikh Abdulla started his career working at Batelco as a Regulatory and Compliance Specialist. He gained his knowledge and experience in the regulatory and compliance field at the time when the telecoms market just started to fully liberalise back in 2002.   Shaikh Abdulla holds an Executive MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland and a Bachelors in Computer Information Systems from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, USA.


Khalid Alalawi
Enterprise & Advisory Relations - Customer Engagement & Support Department at Tamkeen

Khaled Alalawi is a holder of a Bachelor of Engineering from University of Brighton, and a Masters degree of Mass Communications & Public Relations from Ahlia University in Bahrain. Khaled is currently working on obtaining a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) focusing on the impact of “Business Mentoring” in the growth of startups in the Kingdom of Bahrain at Teesside University.   With almost 8+ years’ experience in the fields of ICT, Automotive & Education, Khaled currently works for Tamkeen – a semi government organization tasked with supporting Bahrain’s private sector and positioning it as the key driver of economic development – as a Senior Advisor looking after Tamkeen’s advisory services, which is a platform that connects people to experiences and knowledge that enable them to fulfill their potential, and shape their future. Khaled is also an executive coach certified by ILM specialized in entrepreneurship coaching for both individuals and businesses.   Khaled is an enthusiastic professional, proven leadership abilities in working as a team, handling multiple tasks, great adaptability to any enterprise's environment. Keen on designing and working on projects. Hardworking and resourceful, enjoys a challenge and meeting targets, combined with prioritizing a substantial workload.

Ali Mohsen
Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder at WNNA

CEO & Co-founder of WNNA a Microsoft Alumni, Technologist, Digital Marketing Expert & Serial Entrepreneur with 17 years of experience in starting online businesses. Established and participated in running multiple tech startups across different industries: Enterprise (SAAS), Consumer, e-Commerce & Artificial Intelligence.


Moyez Kassam
Managing Director at Growth Alliance

Moyez is an accomplished executive, entrepreneur and management consultant with diverse experience in formulating and enabling strategies to maximize the value of human capital.
Moyez started his career in the IT industry in the 70’s where he completed his formal education and worked for one of the largest banks in Canada. In the early 80’s, he consulted for Saudi Aramco to support the implementation of large-scale storage supercomputing systems for Oil and Gas exploration. Moyez later joined IBM as an Advisory Systems Engineer based in Saudi Arabia where, he became the country specialist and lead architect for large-systems, supercomputing and data storage systems.
Moyez has worked with and provided consulting to the IT, Oil & Gas, Telecommunications, and Manufacturing industries in Canada, South America and GCC regions for major organizations such as IBM, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Saudi Aramco, SABIC and American Express. 


Nadia Muijrers
Lecturer at Arab Open University

Nadia is an independent management consultant and lecturer at the Arab Open University, specializing in organizational behavior and change, conflict resolution, consumer insight, and social innovation and entrepreneurship. She is fascinated by interpersonal and cross-cultural dynamics, and has a passion for tackling people-centered problems in organizations and in society.

Nadia’s expertise lies at the intersection of business and the social sciences. Prior to her current roles as consultant and lecturer, her work experience included working as an organizational change consultant with SHM Productions in London, as well as investment banking and business advisory roles at EY, Arab Banking Corporation, Samena Capital, and as a freelance consultant and trainer in Bahrain.

She completed her MBA as a Fulbright Scholar in the US specializing in Culture, Organizations and Social Innovation. She also holds an MPhil in International Development from the University of Cambridge, and a BSc in Economics and Political Science from the University of Birmingham.


Hussain Haji
Co-Founder & CEO of Inagrab

Serial entrepreneur, established change agent & Bahraini founder of several startups most recently Inagrab, with over 10 years of experience in Business development, Marketing, and unconditional love for technology, Hussain is a advocate for the startup ecosystem in Bahrain, and loves everything startup ! Currently running a globally scalable business called inagrab which allows the online shopper to make the most valid decision in the shortest possible time while shopping for products or services online. 


Yasin Aboudaoud
Chief Development Officer in Brinc

Yasin Aboudaoud is a Hong Kong born entrepreneur who has been in the global trading business for over 12 years. While co founding Ecico Group he has been able to implement projects and distribution to major companies from the Middle East, Europe and South America. Focused on project management Yasin has lead to develop premium hotels, residential compounds and amusement parks.Yasin completed his undergrad degree at the University of Toronto in international development in 2004; he then made his way back to Asia. This gave him the global vision of A-Z solutions in market development and product distribution.  His expertise in China in the last 10 years, has allowed him to connect people with products of every kind across the globe. In addition to distribution he also entered the F&B market in China and was able to establish two locations between 2010-2012.The forefront of his successes, with technology as his passion and complete dedication as his drive, Yasin firmly believes that there is no market that can be untouched. Currently between the GCC, Hong Kong and China Yasin is very active in taking on more markets and building more products to pitch to the world.
