Diversité pour un Montréal entreprenant / Diversity for an entrepreneurial Montreal

Les 10. 11 et 12 novembre prochain aura lieu une édition bien spéciale du Startup Weekend traditionnel. La ville de Montréal connaitra son deuxième Startup Weekend Montréal Diversité. 

Le Startup weekend de Montréal Diversité se concentre sur la construction de startups ayant validé un marché potentiel, un modèle d'affaires et design / expérience client . Bref, du concret. Ce mouvement de la diversité initié par la Jeune Chambre de Commerce Haïtienne en collaboration avec IDEAL Coworking, permettra aux participants de la diversité de créer des startups en 54 heures pour un Montréal entreprenant. Stimulant, non?

Les possibilités sont quasiment infinies! 

Vous aurez 54 heures pour développer et appliquer une idée pouvant être la base d'une future entreprise ayant un impact local ou global. Élaborez ainsi un produit ou un service innovant qui saura avoir un succès économique, tout comme des retombées sociales positives dans la communauté!

Que ce soit pour bâtir votre propre réseau, développer de nouvelles compétences ou recevoir des conseils d’experts, toutes les raisons sont bonnes pour participer au Startup Weekend Montréal Diversité. Ingénieurs, programmeurs, designers, graphistes, gens d’affaires, étudiants en génie ou en administration sont tous conviés. 

Comment se déroule le Weekend?

Vendredi 10 novembre 2017 :
Les personnes ayant des idées d’entreprises présentent leurs projets aux autres participants. Après la formation des équipes, celles-ci vont travailler à affiner leur modèle d’affaires jusqu’à la présentation aux membres du jury.

Samedi 11 novembre 2017 : 
Sous la supervision de mentors chevronnés, les équipes ont accès toute la journée aux outils à commande numérique (CNC). La nourriture et le café sont aussi fournis pour alimenter la créativité des participants durant la construction de leurs prototypes et leurs modèles d'affaires.

Dimanche 12 novembre 2017 : 
Les équipes mettent la touche finale à leurs projets et se préparent pour leurs présentations. En soirée, la présentation devant jury et le dévoilement des trois des équipes gagnantes closent le Startup Weekend Montréal Diversité.


Have you ever wanted to start a business?

On November 10th, 11th and 12th , a special edition of the traditional Startup Weekend will be held. The city of Montreal will be experiencing its second Startup Weekend Montreal Diversity.

The Startup Weekend of Montreal Diversity focuses on the construction of new business ventures, focusing on the aspects of customer validation, business model, and design / user experience. This movement of diversity initiated by the Young Haitian Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with IDEAL Coworking, will allow participants from the different cultural background to create startups in 54 hours for an enterprising Montreal. Stimulating, right?

The possibilities are almost infinite!

You will have 54 hours to develop and apply an idea that can be the basis of a future company with a local or global impact. Develop an innovative product or service that will have economic success, as well as positive social benefits in the community!

Whether it is to build your own network, develop new skills or receive expert advice, all the reasons are good for participating in Startup Weekend Montreal Diversity. Engineers, programmers, designers, graphic designers, businesspersons, engineering students or In administration are all invited.

How does the Weekend work?

Friday, November 10th, 2017:
People with business ideas present their projects to other participants. After the teams have been trained, they will work to refine their business model until the presentation to the members of the jury.

Saturday, November 11th, 2017:
Under the supervision of seasoned mentors, teams have access to CNC tools throughout the day. Food and coffee are also provided to fuel the creativity of participants during the construction of their prototypes and business models.

Sunday, November 13th, 2017:
Teams are finalizing their projects and preparing for their presentations. In the evening, the presentation before the jury and the unveiling of the three winning teams closed the Startup Weekend Montreal Diversity.

Founder & CEO @ Ask-Pam

Originally from Paris, Pamela has been in the Hospitality Business for almost a decade. She spent the last 3 years working in tech and contributing to the Montreal Startup Ecosystem as she co-founded Ask PAM, a disruptive Concierge platform that seamlessly connects local experts with travelers all over the world. Her passion for new technology, innovations and entrepreneurship led her to work with many inspiring entrepreneurs and innovative companiesOriginally from Paris, Pamela has been in the Hospitality Business for almost a decade. Eryk Warren
Cofounder & CTO @ Unito

Eryk a à son actif plus de 20 ans d'expérience en logiciel-service, jumelant connaissances techniques, scientifiques et créativité. La majeure partie de sa carrière fut consacrée à des startups de la Silicon Valley où il a vécu directement le bouillonnement entreprenarial de la haute technologie. Fort de cette expérience positive, il est heureux de pouvoir participer à l'effervescence que connaît aujourd'hui le monde des startups à Montréal. Actuellement, Eryk est cofondateur et Directeur de la technologie chez, une compagnie qui stimule la collaboration au sein des entreprises en synchronisant leurs outils de gestion de projet.

Olivia Li
President, Founder @ Tabla9

Olivia Li is an entrepreneur, a geek and product enthusiast, who has been working with startups since 2005. She has a bachelors in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, and started her career as a software developer. Her transition into management came naturally, driven by a desire to find better ways to work with people, and her passion for building great tech-enabled experiences that stick in an ever-evolving and sometimes brittle world. Following fast successes at tech startups and many failures, occasionally dabbling in consulting/freelance work to develop her business acumen, Olivia returned to McGill-HEC in 2012 for a formal business education with the EMBA programme.

Today, she is an active in member of the startup community, contributing as mentor for FounderFuel, as curator of the Montreal Startup Digest and as a co-organizer of ProductHunt Montreal. Through her company, Tabla9, Olivia Li helps companies develop product strategies and practices that enable better innovation within a balanced and collaborative culture.

Natacha Mainville
Chief Innovation Officer @ TandemLaunch

Natacha is a seasoned engineering executive and a fintech veteran having assembled and led teams in resolving pivotal challenges in the domain for over 15 years. Most recently, her passion for technology resulted in her leading a team of over 130 engineers and technologists through an AI ready, mobile-first technology stack overhaul for one of the largest insurance providers in Canada. An organizational transformation over $100M in scope. As a member of the board of IVADO – an organization leading a $300M AI-driven interdisciplinary initiative bringing together McGill, Université de Montréal, Polytechnique and HEC – Natacha believes in a world with more young women in STEM and in positions of leadership. She actively seeks opportunities to champion this cause through mentorship, discussion and outreach. Having recently joined TandemLaunch as Chief Innovation Officer, Natacha is assimilating her experience and values in the creation of technology companies from the ground up with talented entrepreneurs and cutting-edge technologies from around the world. As part of the TandemLaunch leadership team, she provides executive guidance and is actively involved in product engineering, team development, project planning, market validation and all other aspects building successful consumer technology startups.

Ismael Coulibaly
Avocat | Agent de marques de commerce chez Benoît & Côté

Avocat et agent de marques de commerce agréé auprès de l’Office de la Propriété Intellectuelle du Canada, Ismaël est titulaire d’une Maîtrise en droit des affaires (LL.M.) de l’Université de Montréal en plus d’avoir complété le programme IPIC/McGill « Trade-marks management and contentious proceedings ».  Ismaël a développé une expertise en matière de protection d’actifs de propriété intellectuelle, violation et autres procédures contentieuses, contrats de licence, transfert de technologie, contrats de commercialisation et conseil en droit des affaires. Il pratique au sein du bureau Benoît & Côté à Montréal où il offre une large gamme de services aux entreprises, appréhendant les enjeux et problématiques liés à la propriété intellectuelle le tout dans une perspective d’affaires.

Charles Landriault
Owner IDEAL Coworking | Owner Drive Branding

Charles a débuté sa carrière en tant que graphiste salarié dans une agence de communications à Montréal. Après 3 ans, il se lance sa propre compagnie de design : Drive Branding qui se spécialise en image de marque. Parallèlement, il fonde Ideal Coworking, un espace de cotravail proposant une dizaine d’espace ouverts et 2 bureaux fermés. Son intérêt à valoriser le métier de designer graphique le mène à s’impliquer au CA de la SDGQ. Sa fougue entrepreneuriale ne s’arrête pas là, au printemps 2017, il ouvre un second espace de Coworking. Ideal compte maintenant 12 bureaux fermés de toutes tailles, 2 salles de conférences et une trentaine d’espaces ouverts.

Omar Zahr
Venture Development

After obtaining a PhD in Chemistry from McGill University in 2015, Omar joined TandemLaunch after becoming aware of the severe disconnect between academic research and industry need. TandemLaunch is a startup studio that scouts for academic research worldwide and recruits founders to transform that research into technology startups in the consumer technology industry. Having generated a portfolio worth over $250M, TandemLaunch’s hands-on, mentorship-oriented approach has achieved an unprecedented graduation rate of over 80%. As a Venture Developer, Omar identifies new technologies, recruits technical and business leads, and helps teams with university IP negotiations, business strategy, and securing early-stage revenue.

Marco Janeczek
Director Accelerator + Incubator, L-Spark

Marco Janeczek’s currently serves as a director to L-SPARK, 
an Ottawa based SaaS accelerator and is the Managing Partner of Infinite Ventures, 
where he invests, advises and creates early stage startups. 

Marco’s entrepreneurial journey began with the creation of Gables Medical Billing System and 
His early passion for startups has given him the possibilities to be part of great teams and products,
in a variety of roles including CEO, VP Sales,  and Product Development, as well as advisory roles in 
companies such as Yostro, OnTab, Pat Group, TOWNHILL Software, Gbatteries, hatchbrands, Pcsso, Responsa, Zikera, Zooppa, DomainsIncome, Ottawa Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy,

Myles Foster
Organizer, Mentor & Judges

Myles started his entrepreneurship career when he founded a startup at Startup Weekend. Over 3 years he managed to raise a $100k seed round, build a mobile app that lets people skip the line at popular food locations on campus, and secure a Fortune 500 company as a customer. 

Myles currently works at Payment Rails, at Montreal Startup that is making payouts for marketplace businesses painless.
