La 9ème édition du Startup Weekend Montréal sera dédiée à l'internet des objets "Internet of Things"

Saviez‐vous que l’Internet des Objets est considérée comme la 3e évolution majeure d’Internet ? C’est ce qu’on appelle le Web 3.0 : l’extension d’Internet à la sphère des objets physiques. Intrigués par ce concept révolutionnaire ?

Did you know that the Internet of Things (IoT) is considered the 3rd major internet revolution? It is what we call Web 3.0: The Internet extension of networks embedded in physical objects. Intrigued by this revolutionary concept? 

Then, this Startup Weekend Edition is for you! Meet entrepreneurs, students, and likeminded individuals passionate about innovative technologies.

Patrick Chandler
Co-Founder & Data Scientist, Hykso

Patrick Chandler is the co-founder and Data Scientist for Hykso, a Montreal based startup focusing on wearable sensors for professional boxers and their coaches. He is a mentor at WearHacks, a member of a secret group of algorithmic traders and solely designed the highly accurate Hykso algorithm which breaks down all punches into their in depth physical components.His specialty is motion tracking, sensor algorithm design and machine learning. As co-founder of the startup he has worked on lean startup methods in IoT, business model generation, as well as customer validation of the product.


Frédéric Bastien
Co-Founder & CEO, mnubo

Fred is a passionate entrepreneur with a keen sense for innovation and business value creation. He thrives on developing high-quality solutions and delivering top-notch customer satisfaction. Fred is driving mnubo to be the strategic catalyst in truly opening up the Internet of Things, so that OEMs can maximize value from the data generated by their connected objects.He believes in fostering a strong team culture to successfully grow businesses. Under Fred’s leadership mnubo has built a team of big data analysts, data scientists and cloud platform experts. Their goal is to analyze the world’s IoT data to make it valuable.Fred was recognized as Quebec’s 2014 EY Emerging Entrepreneur and received the 2014 PWC Vision to Reality award. With over 20 years experience in the mobile and data industry and a B.Eng in Engineering – Telecommunications from École Polytechnique de Montréal, Fred is leading mnubo to the forefront of the IoT industry.

Francois Poirier
Chief Executive Officer at MakerBloks

François Poirier is an industrial designer and been working in product development for the past 15 years. He is very passionate about hardware in all its form and how to materialize it. In February 2013 he and a partner develop a family-friendly breathalyzer called Sobersmart. It got him in the Top 3 at the Startup Weekend, Top 3 at the International Startup Festival, brought him to Dublin and named one of the 25 Emerging Entrepreneurs of C2MTL.  In April 2014, he joined the Founder Institute to learn how to be a better entrepreneur. Within the biggest entrepreneurs accelerator in the world, he started a new startup named MakerBloks, which are small, reactive building block to teach children about electronics. With MakerBloks, Francois graduated top of his class, won judges panel at demo day and named one of the 3 startups to follow by Les Affaires.

Pierre-Alexandre Fournier
CEO, Hexoskin

Pierre-Alexandre Fournier is co-founder and CEO of Hexoskin, a wearable health technology company based in Montreal that focuses on smart clothing design and intelligent software for health and performance. Hexoskin was founded in 2006 and launched in 2013 the first iPhone compatible smart clothing for health monitoring. His work at Hexoskin involves the development of new wearable sensors for remote health monitoring during space missions, physiological algorithms for health analysis, and smart clothing design. Pierre-Alexandre is also the co-founder of Quantified Self Montreal, a group that promotes self-knowledge through numbers.


Manaf Bouchentouf
Directeur, Accélérateur Banque Nationale - HEC Montréal

Manaf Bouchentouf is the executive director of the National Bank of Canada – HEC Montréal startup accelerator. He also manages Entreprism, the new incubator of HEC Montréal dedicated to entrepreneurs from cultural communities. Manaf has a relevant experience in entrepreneurship and innovation particularly in converging high tech domains in research organizations and in the industry. He held several senior positions within fast-growth private companies and consortiums in Canada and Europe. He has a strong track record in planning, managing and evaluating major projects focused in research, innovation, technology transfer and in implementing innovative support schemes. Manaf holds a PhD in biomedical engineering from Laval University as well as an MBA from HEC Montréal. He is involved in several entrepreneurial initiatives as mentor and coach as well as instructor/trainer providing highly focused practice and feedback in entrepreneurship and valorization using cutting edge tools, techniques and high level skills (including value proposition and business model design, project/product management and valorization value chain).

Yishel Khan
CEO, DOT-ADHD

Yishel Khan is graduated from McGill University with bachelors in Electrical Engineering and currently word for Ericsson Ottawa. She is also the founder of DOT which aim is to end the struggle of children with ADHD using a brain-sensing headband. DOT gives children with ADHD an opportunity to lead normal lives. It is a platform where children can develop cognitive skills through fun and interactive games. DOT translates the child's behaviour to the parent through reading brain signals, allowing parents to monitor in a quantitative manner, using a non-invasive headband.    


Sebastien Roy
CEO, Lean Systems


Sebastien Roy is the CEO of Lean Systems,  an API-based optimization
platform for transportation planning and crew scheduling. Sebastien
completed a Ph. D. in quantum physics before becoming an operation
research and artifical intelligence expert applied for transportation
companies. Lean Systems was founded during Founder Institute 2015 and
was part of Techstars NYC winter 2017 cohort.


Saïda Bouhmidi
Project Manager I Business analyst I Business unit manager

Saïda Bouhmidi a abordé le marché du travail avec son diplôme d’ingénieur d’état en électronique et télécommunication obtenu à l’École Mohammedia des Ingénieurs. Saida a accumulé 14 ans d’expérience en gestion de projets et programmes dans le domaine de la microélectronique et des télécommunication. En 2011, elle a obtenu son MBA, une formation multidisciplinaire en management international, obtenu auprès d’ENPC Paris.   La même année, Saida a fait partie des 37 femmes "Hi-tech" choisies parmi plus de 1300 candidates de la région MENA pour suivre le programme Techwomen, sponsorisé par les sociétés hi-tech de Silicon Valley à San Francisco. Saida a participé comme intervenante  pour plusieurs panels, ·      Google g|maroc Women session on June 7th, 2012 · TechCamp Morocco, "Technology for Youth Employment" - November 13-14, 2012  ·  Panelist on Technology and its impact in the MENA region at Google San Francisco ·  Saida est également  co-fondatrice et membre active de plusieurs associations au Maroc œuvrant pour la promotion de la technologie, de l’éducation, de la culture, de l’inclusion et de l’autonomie de nos concitoyens. Actuellement, Saida s’est engagée dans l’étude, le développement, la recherche de financement et le lancement de l’initiative m-Education pour lutter contre l’analphabétisme dans le monde.  


Yanick Lavoie
CEO, FiboBand

Participant à répétition au Startup Weekend, PDG de Fiboband et Diplômé du Founder Institute. Yanick est un co-fondateur technique qui a travaillé sans relâche à bonifier ses compétences dans le domaine de la startup depuis déjà quelques années. Orienté produit et résultat, il a un oeil, merci à ses 20 ans d'expérience, pour proposer des solutions simples et élégantes lorsqu’on lui présente des problèmes complexes. Grand partisan de l'idée que c’est en travaillant plus dur que votre concurrent que vous vous démarquerez, il aime l'énergie et l’effervescence retrouvée autour des startups.


Rhou Bassam
CEO, Flystro

Bassam Rhou is the co-founder and CEO of Flystro, an internet marketplace connecting drone operators with clients, wherever they are in the world. He is also an aerospace engineer and MBA graduate with a strong experience in major aerospace projects.  


Graham Mann
Co-Founder @ Lean Systems

Graham is currently a cofounder of Lean Systems, which graduated from Techstars NYC this spring, and he was previously an Associate with Techstars Boston.  He studied Mechanical Engineering at McGill before graduating from Founder Institute Montreal, and has since been involved in all aspects of startup life, with a focus on marketing, sales, and strategy.  He currently splits his time between Montreal, New York, and his hometown of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.


Marc Boscher
CEO, Unito

Marc is the founder and CEO of Unito, a middleware for SaaS that lets everyone collaborate from the app of their choice. But before finally starting his own business, Marc was a founding team member of three other technology startups in the medical and digital signage spaces, where he led product and technology. He survived through one bubble and two crashes, even though the businesses didn’t. During his studies at McGill University, he co-founded the CS Games, a non-profit competition for undergraduate tech students that’s now entering its 15th year. 

Marc's startup adventures started 20 years ago, and there's no end in sight! He’s even getting used to writing about himself in the third person…


Philippe Rivard
Founder & CEO of Nukern

Philippe Rivard is the Founder & CEO of Nukern. He founded his first company at 20 years old, and he's still running it today. He's an entrepreneur with 14+ years experience in IT and web hosting. Philippe graduated from the Founder Institute Accelerator in Montreal and the Founder Lab in San Francisco. New technologies and beta testing are a passion of his. He's also a self-taught, creative, autonomous and disciplined individual, always looking for the next big thing. UI aficionado, web design lover & solution finder!


David Zagury
Founder of Startr

David is the founder of Startr, a mobile matchmaking application for tech entrepreneurs and developers in Montreal. After graduating from Concordia University's JMSB with a bachelor in Finance, he went to work in Tel Aviv as a strategy consultant for local tech startups. A tech entrepreneur at heart, David is passionate about technology, innovation, and discussing new business ideas. 


Amélie Morency
Founder of The Foodroom

Amélie is the Founder of The Foodroom; The first Culinary coworking space for food. She is a professional chef from the ITHQ and has studied restaurant management. Before starting the FoodRoom, She has started two other ventures, starting at age 13. Her last venture, À toutes les sauces won 2 entrepreneurial contest.  Amélie has graduate Founder institute winning second best pitch, She has also pitch at Bon Appetech conference, last October.  


Xavier Peich
Cofondateur et directeur des affaires chez CycleLabs

Xavier Peich est cofondateur et directeur des affaires chez CycleLabs. Cette startup techno montréalaise a lancé SmartHalo, un produit connecté pour le vélo ayant connu un succès foudroyant sur Kickstarter. Entrepreneur en série, M. Peich a démarré plusieurs entreprises dans les domaines des médias, de la distribution et de l’éducation


Alain Robillard-Bastien
Fondateur d’Ergoweb

Propriétaire d’Ergoweb, expert-conseil reconnu, Alain oeuvre depuis plus de 20 ans en expérience utilisateur. Ses intérêts portent sur l’insertion du UX de façon non intrusive, efficace et rentable dans des projets interactifs très variés.


Jean-Francois Poulin
Lead UX designer @ Ubios

Le Design Sprint tel que Google le propose est un processus UX qui s’applique a toutes les entreprises en démarrage. Sans mise en place d’un bon processus de réflexion, les chance de devoir refaire le projet a partir de 0 sont énorme. Donc n’hésitiez pas a faire appel a moi. Je possède plus de 19 ans d’expérience dans le domaine de l’interactivité, de l’architecture d’information et de l’expérience utilisateur. J’ai dirigé de nombreux projets et développé une spécialité dans les projets avec composante matérielle #IOT. Impliqué dans la communauté, je suis vice-président de UXPA Québec, en plus d’avoir cofondé le média hyperlocal QuartierHochelaga.com, et ToutLeMonde-UX.com un événement professionnel en lien avec le UX.


Philippe Nieuwbourg

Philippe Nieuwbourg a commencé sa carrière à la fin des années 80, au croisement de la comptabilité (sa formation) et de l’informatique (sa passion).
Il est aujourd’hui analyste indépendant et journaliste, spécialiste des technologies d’aide à la décision et de traitement des données. Il a créé le site Decideo, qui réunit plus de 15 000 abonnés, en français et en espagnol, et est devenu la référence en matière d’information objective sur l’actualité des outils d’aide à la prise de décision. Installé au Québec depuis 2013, il est également chargé de cours à l’ISAE-SUPAERO de Toulouse, au Collège de Bois de Boulogne, à l'UQAM, et formateur professionnel pour Data Science Institute. Il anime de nombreuses conférences chaque année, en Europe, au Canada et en Amérique du Sud.
Il a écrit plusieurs livres sur le Big Data, le CRM, les places de marché, et son prochain ouvrage soulignera le potentiel combiné des objets, des données et des algorithmes.
Demain, derrière l’économie de la donnée, ce sont les objets connectés et l’industrie 4.0 qui deviendront les principaux générateurs de contenu à analyser. Il est le co-fondateur de ConnecteoCamp, une organisation sans but lucratif qui catalyse les énergies autour des objets connectés au Québec pour faire de la Province une capitale majeure de cette industrie.

Aditya Pendyala

Adi is passionate about solving complex business challenges. He adapts a customer-centric approach to deriving synergies and he leads the products, partnerships, business development and marketing initiatives at mnubo. He strongly believes in building relationships that maximize benefits for all partners. Adi loves to work closely with customers and the development team to transform and adapt technology into business value solutions. Adi has a B. Eng in Electrical Engineering from McGill University and an MBA (Honors) from John Molson School of Business.


Ary Bressane
Senior data scientist, mnubo

Ary is passionate about Big Data and its potential for the Internet of Things. As the co-organizer of Data MTL, he has excellent problem solving skills and proven technical leadership and communications skills. With over ten years of hands on experience, Ary is leading the architectecting of mnubo's Big Data Mining and Machine Learning as a Service. 

Ary has a Masters in Computer Science from Universidade de Såo Paulo.


Jean Sebastien Paul
Sales Director, mnubo

JS has 15 years experience in sales, international business development and partnership creation. In his previous roles, he has brought in customers and partners such as Hydro Quebec, Rogers, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, AGCO, CBC, CN Rail, Air Canada and Desjardins.

His expertise is around value proposition creation & communication, client pitch deck creation, Product & Market fit validation, business development strategy, partnership creation & monetization and sales funnel management.


Philippe Beaudoin
Senior Software Developer, Google

Philippe is a developer at Google where he works on constantly improving the Chrome browser. He holds a Ph.D in Computer Science and taught virtual bipeds to walk by themselves during his postdoc at UBC. Philippe also founded ArcBees, specializing in cloud-based development. Prior to that he worked in the videogame and graphics hardware industries. When he has some free time, Philippe likes to invent new boardgames, including Québec which was published to celebrate the 400 year anniversary of the famous city.


Christian Lavoie

Christian Lavoie, ancien de Google, président de Sand Reckoning Consulting, est un geek de souche et un consultant pour les investisseurs en capitaux de risque.
