Digital Media Strategist

Humaira is a Digital Media Strategist for Girls Raising by day and a freelancer writer all the time + grad student at UofT. She also does freelance marketing for clients and has and has worked with TEDx. She holds a degree in Information Systems and Management from the London School of Economics and Politics, and has worked for both Manulife and Yahoo.

Justin Jones
VP Professional Services (WSI Internet Consulting) -

Justin specializes in turning digital ideas into commercial opportunities. A digital entrepreneur and venture capitalist that is excited by the business challenges of – David versus Goliath, Brains versus Brawn and New versus ‘Proven’.

Glenn Thorpe
Sales & Marketing Manager at INS Inc.

Glenn Thorpe has been active in the business community for over seven years. He is a Sales & Marketing Manager at INS Inc., a Waterloo, ON. based technology business service provider, and he's Vice-Chair of The Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals. He is also a Judge for the annual DECA Provincials competition held in Toronto, where thousands of Secondary-School Students from Ontario compete in Business Marketing and Financial categories. At the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, he sits on a Marketing Think-Tank Committee formed of eight Marketing Professionals from various industries. Glenn has also been published in the business section of The KW Record, interviewed in a documentary film about business in KW, and is an occasional guest speaker at Communitech, the Hub of the tech start-up scene in KW.

Nathan Monk
MaRS DD - Sr. Strategist

Nathan is the Founding Director of Startup Next, Toronto. He is an entrepreneur, marathoner and mentor. He currently resides at MaRS Discovery District where he has worked with over 500 startups. Nathan is known for being a pioneer of lean / agile thinking in Canada, bringing Lean Startup Day to Toronto and Founding the Everest program, an intensive 5-session program based on the latest lean thinking across marketing, team, finance and business model generation.  

Bart van de Kooij
Co-Founder, Minibrew

Co-founder of Minibrew, a hardware startup focused on creating a global network of tastemakers and here to democratize the beer space. Bart leads product development and growth strategy as well helped raise $1 million to grow last year.

Daryna Kulya

Daryna works in the Digital Innovation group at Deloitte where she develops digital strategies, experiments with pre-enterprise technologies and advises practitioners and firm leadership how to benefit from them. Outside of the firm, Daryna mentors startups on business development and user acquisition. She has mentored teams at Startup Weekend Toronto since 2011 and is the organizer of the Product Hunt Toronto Meetup. 

Her areas of expertise as a Startup Weekend Mentor include business model generation, customer validation and crafting a killer pitch.

Rajen Sanghvi
Chief Operating Officer - Shoplocket

Rajen Sanghvi is a startup sales and business operations specialist. As COO of ShopLocket (recently acquired by PCH International) and their newly launched brand, Rajen is responsible for all of the company’s day-to-day operations and business execution.  

Rajen's passionate about building companies from the ground up. His experience spans everything from getting your first handful of customers, to defining a scalable sales process and figuring out how to build a team along the way. Sometimes a product manager, other times an operations manager, and most often a growth manager, Rajen likes to get his hands dirty in every aspect of building a business.  

Previously, Rajen has held senior sales positions at ScribbleLive, NetSuite and IBM. He also holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto. In his free time, you can find Rajen trying new personal growth/productivity hacks and blogging at  

Matt Miller
Junior Web Developer

Matt is a former entrepreneur turned web developer who is currently loving life at The Working Group. Solving challenging problems and creating win-win scenarios is where he thrives. With a passion for business and technology Matt aims to use this drive to make the world a better place.

Holly Knowlman
Founder & Editor, Stupid Magazine

Holly is the founder and editor of Stupid Magazine: A print-first media company about pop music. Alongside building Stupid, Holly curates a weekly newsletter about media business models, is a writer at TWG and and faffs about on Medium sometimes.

With a background in PR and community management, her work has appeared in The Guardian, The Globe & Mail, Mashable, Huffington Post, TNW, Poynter and on CBC’s Spark. Her music industry experience includes work for publicity agencies, artists, promoters, and major music festivals NXNE and WayHome. She is an advisor to #Paid (the best platform for connecting brands with social media influencers) and Small Rooms, Canada’s leading podcast for technology entrepreneurs.
