Creating an Inclusive Society: Startup Weekend Silver Society @ Lingnan University

The concept of social integration is important to create an inclusive society, with the fundamental values includes equity, social justice, equality, human dignity, rights and freedoms.

In this forum, we would understand more about how social enterprises and organization can help to responds the concept of social inclusion.

Our objectives are introducing different organizations and social enterprises to the Hong Kong community (such as the social mission, impact, and innovative and successful ways of engaging community) and sharing projects and startup examples for an inclusive society in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Arthur Choo
Founder of BEAT’ABOX GROUP, Singapore

Arthur Choo is the founder and soul of the BEAT’ABOX GROUP. Arthur has tried his
hand at business since the age of 18. With music as his passion, he has performed as
part of a group since his early 20s, doing shows with a group in Asia, and then going
solo with a few friends, in the local arts scene. One of the local pioneer performers
and trainers in cajon, Arthur saw the potential of this instrument, and pursued it with
a passion, founding BEAT’ABOX in 2011. Arthur’s vision is to put Singapore on the
map as a leading education provider in percussion and music, and a leading producer
of unique cajons.
  


Stanley Ng
Co-Founder / CEO of Impact Hub Pilot, Hong Kong

Stanley Ng, Executive Coach, 1st trained facilitator of LEGO® Serious Play® in Hong
Kong, Certified Management Account (Canada), BBA (Marketing and Accounting,
Schulich School of Business, Canada)
Mr Stanley Ng is an experienced issued-based trainer with over 15 years in
management and entrepreneurial experience. He is currently the chief facilitator of a
management consulting firm and the managing director of a multi-business
enterprise. He delivers coaching, training and consultancy for multinational
organisations with different stages of development.
  


Rico Chan
Founder & CEO of Beyond Vision Projects, Hong Kong

Rico CHAN is the Founder and CEO of BEYOND VISION PROJECTS (BVP). BVP is a social
enterprise that enhances the quality of life of the visually impaired (VI) and elderly
with low vision which focused on the Social Inclusiveness, Equality and Employment
Opportunities, by providing Tactile-Audio Interaction System (TAIS) services – a
simple-to-create ‘touch synchronised’ tactile and audio tool for the users to receive
visual information through touching and hearing.

Eric Kwan
Director of Alitheia Advisors Limited

Eric is a startup experienced technologist currently working on a couple of startup projects and contributing toward Hong Kong's startup ecosystem as organizer, mentor and coach for Startup Weekend events. With a background in IT consulting, he has worked with clients in providing advice, facilitating change, and delivering technology for top-tier banks and multinationals in New York, London and Hong Kong. He has built and grown an IT consulting firm and a financial services outfit from being startups to revenue-generating organizations, and co-founded an education/learning product startup helping youngsters in Hong Kong preparing for their DSE exams. Eric graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
