What is Startup Weekend?

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation.
The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

We will begin with open pitches on Friday, attendees will work on concepts with teams focusing on customer development, idea validation and creating a viable product. By Sunday evening, teams will demonstrate their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts–competing for prizes that help speed them to launch.

Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. If you want to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur, register now for the best weekend of your life!

Topic

This Startup Weekend puts the spotlight on Health because it offers both huge challenges in our society as well as great business potentials.
Our goal is to bring together the healthcare community, designers, IT-profiles and entrepreneurs to facilitate the formation of new ideas. We all face challenges such as the aging society in Denmark and hospitals running out of capacity. We wish to bring in new technologies which have potential of improving the Danish healthcare system and draw attention to the new areas of tele-healthcare and general health-empowerment.

We aim to engage public and private companies and organizations which are involved in healthcare system, as well as inventors of technologies, software developers, designers and students with interests in Healthcare and E-health. They participate as mentors, judges, in the organizer team and as participants. So, if you know how you would like to improve the current Danish healthcare system, come to Copenhagen Startup Weekend Health register now and let us look into your ideas together.

GLOBAL STARTUP BATTLE

250+ Cities. Thousands of entrepreneurs. One battle. Founder teams in 250+ cities are preparing for intense 54-hour Startup Weekend boot camps on the two weekends surrounding Global Entrepreneurship Week. Each team will work almost around the clock to turn promising concepts into new startups and compete against one another in a virtual Global Startup Battle. Winners from each local event then compete in a virtual Global Startup Battle for various prizes.

SW Copenhagen is associated with Global Startup Battle as well. If you can’t attend one, help us by using #CPHSW in the Global Startup Hashtag Battle and put Copenhagen on the startup map.
