Samer Gharaibeh
Chief Executive Officer - Aramex Africa

Samer Gharaibeh is the Chief Executive Officer in Africa for Aramex, a leading global provider of comprehensive logistics and transportation solutions, and a publicly traded company on Dubai Financial Market (DFM: ARMX) employing over 14,000 employees across 60 countries. 
Gharaibeh joined Aramex in 1996 as a financial controller at its offices in Amman, Jordan. In 1999, he moved to Egypt to lead Aramex’s business there. He currently oversees the company's operations and expansions in the African markets, in his capacity as the Chief Executive Officer of Aramex in Africa. 
Samer is an active member of the company’s Global Management Team and offers an extensive knowledge of the logistics and transportation industry, and deep understanding of current and future markets trends. He is also actively involved in community and NGO work in Egypt and African countries, serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Ruwwad Al-Tanmeya Egypt, a mentor at Endeavor Egypt, in addition to playing an active role with the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt. Samer is also a member of Egypt’s International Economic Forum. 
Gharaibeh holds a Master's of Science in International Transport and Logistics from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport. He also completed a number of executive development and management programs from the Business School of Wharton; University of Pennsylvania, USA.


Rasha Tantawy
Entrepreneurship & Business Support Department Head, TIEC

Rasha is the head of entrepreneurship at TIEC, ITIDA. Rasha has built extensive networks and assets in the global entrepreneurial marketplace. An entrepreneur herself with multiple failures and currently on board her company AGTA packaging, Rasha loves to help other entrepreneurs reach for the stars. Rasha spent much time in government developing the Entrepreneurship department at TIEC managing the Accelerator program, Mobile Monday, Business support amongst other support programs offered to startups, SMEs and entrepreneurs in ICT plus  being part of the team that compiled the ICT2020 strategy for Egypt.   Rasha has worked with and consulted with various European commission projects as part of FP7 and H2020. Rasha participates in local and international conferences as a speaker and in various leading universities on entrepreneurship, developing entrepreneurial environments, business modeling, and role of government. She worked closely with international entities like the EIB, ALECSA, ANIMA and the CMI on entrepreneurship and innovation projects for the MENA and EuroMED region. Her consultancy work includes developing the MENA innovation index , developing KPIs for Technology Parks and developing an innovation diagnostic tool for SMEs in these regions. Rasha mentors entrepreneurs regularly with a special focus on women and youth. Rasha is part of the EuroMED business Women network which serves women of the Mediterranean region. Rasha holds a Masters in Civil Engineering from Alexandria University, a Masters in Management of Technology from Nile University. She is also finalizing her Doctorate in the area of Entrepreneurship in developing countries at the University of Switzerland.


Wael Aburida
Managing Partner, Halo Investment

Mr. Wael Aburida is the Chairman & Managing Partner of Halo Investment Management, launched in 2015 to lead growth equity investments into private companies in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey. Previously, he was Chief Investment Officer and head of Private Equity & Real Estate Investments for PineBridge Investments, the $85 Billion global investment management firm based in New York. At PineBridge, Mr. Aburida had overall investment responsibility for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey. In his role, he served on the regional Executive Committee and regional Investment Committee. Prior to joining PineBridge in 2013, Mr. Aburida led the private equity and strategic investment activities for Abu Dhabibased Waha Capital since 2008. During his tenure at Waha, he served on numerous boards and took operational responsibility as acting CEO of Addax Bank in Bahrain to lead the restructuring of the bank. Prior to coming to the United Arab Emirates in 2008, Mr. Aburida lived in San Francisco, where he was Managing Director of Investment Banking for Nollenberger Capital Partners and previously was Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking at DCA Partners. In 2000, Mr. Aburida moved to California to join a new division within Intel to drive strategic investments and acquisitions, called Intel Capital. Over the course of his five-year tenure, he rose to the position of Director of Global M&A group for Intel Corporation by 2005. Prior to Intel, Mr. Aburida was an M&A associate for Bowles Hollowell Conner in Charlotte, NC and previously, an equity research analyst in New York for Prudential Securities. Mr. Aburida has over twenty years of experience in private equity, mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, and executive management. He holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and a BA from Lake Forest College. Irene Boghdadi
MSMEs Development Consultant

Ms. Irene Boghdadi graduated with a degree in Creative Advertising from the American University in Dubai. She started her career as a Strategic Planner at the global advertising agency Memac Ogilvy & Mather working with a portfolio of top multinational companies. She joined Nahdet el Mahrousa (NM), an Egyptian NGO, in the fall of 2011 and for 4 years supported over 40 social enterprises in the fields of civic engagement, public health, agriculture and arts and culture in developing their enterprises. Ms. Boghdadi has been working in clean technology entrepreneurship support and sustainable energy consulting with Cleantech Arabia since 2013 and with Chemonics Egypt Consultants since 2015. She focuses most of her work on designing, developing and implementing entrepreneurship support programs in Cairo and Upper Egypt in the fields of solid waste management and renewable energy.

Shaimaa Gaafar

However, when you support others in pursuing their passions, you create a ripple effect for impact. Shaymaa’s Passion is to support tech young entrepreneurs to realize their potential and achieve their dreams. Shaymaa continuously works with multiple NGOs that provides support to tech entrepreneurs in their early stages of startup development.Shaymaa is graduated from Computer Sciences – Ain Shams University and she has 12 years of working experience in technology field in multinationals such as IBM and PepsiCo. Shaymaa now is the Commercial Solutions Manager for MENA region in PepsiCo, she is in charge of the delivery agenda for the Go-To-Market technology innovations in the region.

Waleed Khalil
CEO, oteena for information technology

In1996 Waleed started his career as one of manufacturing team in charge of establishing the first printed circuit board facility in Egypt owned by the privet sector that was with Bahgat group. He spent there 3 years throughout which he was able to achieve a solid knowledge base in manufacturing of consumer electronics products’ core. In 1999 he joined Metra group, the mission was to establish the first motherboard manufacturing facility in the Middle East. He stayed there for 12 month throughout which was able to establish the manufacturing capability for the mother board and was in charge of managing and handling the startup and the early stage of production. Also he was in charge of hiring the whole team of manufacturing including production, quality control, & material control. In Jan 2000, joined mentor graphics as a senior field engineer. Mentor graphics is one of worldwide pioneers in electronic design automation tools it produces software for designing hardware products. Waleed was handling the Middle East and Africa as a senior application engineer in charge of educating researchers on designing and manufacturing of printed circuit board. 3 years later he joined Memscap. He built a team for manufacturing what is called skin station it was one of the products that integrated the experience in hardware designs, software development and mechanical design. It is biomedical equipment which was directed to the cosmetic and dermatology institutes. 2 years later the team was able to release the first generations of skin stations. In 2004 Waleed decided to change career so he started working on business studies and joined the business arena as a partner in ECS (one of the key hardware and computer distributors in Egypt). Finally started OTEENA in 2008, OTEENA is a distribution company working with diversified products between IT and consumer electronic; it’s also a distributor of Samsung. Oteena works in E-commerce through its online shop called www.oteena.com. Between 2001 until recently, Waleed have been holding shares in many startups some of them in Egypt and others are in MEA region, and Far East. Most recent startup for Waleed is Olkya technology Ltd, HK. It is a consumer electronics manufacturing targeting professional consumers, and SMBs. As an entrepreneurship mentor, Waleed have been participating in several Entrepreneurial activities. He’s been behind transferring many wonderful ideas into a robust self-confident business models. Waleed was graduated from the faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, and Electronics and Electrical communications department. Waleed holds an MBA degree in finance from The American University in Cairo.


Hala Hattab
Assosicate Professor of Entrepreneurship at British University in Egypt

Dr. Hala Hattab is Assosicate Professor of Entrepreneurship at the British University in Egypt. As a Chemical Engineering graduate, she started her professional career as a business development officer in an engineering consultancy company and moved upwards until became the Business Development Manager. Later on,she obtained her Ph.D. in female entrepreneurship and added to her professional career a new academic dimension that covers research as well as teaching. 

Dr. Hattab teaches different entrepreneurship modules at the university aiming at promoting entrepreneurship among students and prepare them to be entrepreneurs themselves, including ideas generation, opportunity recognition, business planning, etc... 

She acted as the main judge in first reality TV programme for and about young entrepreneurs in Egypt in addition to different business plan competitions in addition to being a mentor for start-ups providing support and mentorship.



Malak El Masry
Senior Associate, Ahead of the Curve

Malak is a Senior Associate at Ahead of the Curve working on the Google Mobile Application Launchpad (MAL) Program. She primarily focuses on putting together multiple activities and events for this Google Program to both recruit and graduate students. Prior to ATC, Malak spent 2 years working with Google under the scope of education and outreach, developing multiple student and outreach programs and managing them across the MENA region. She took part in a range of student and community led initiatives, promoting Google programs and managing the Google Student Ambassador program. Prior to this, Malak gained 2 years working experience in marketing and communications as a marketing specialist at the British University in Egypt. Throughout her career she has been primarily focused on working with youth and helping bridge the large gap between students lack of exposure and experience, and the needs of the job market. In addition to the above, Malak founded Fantasiam in 2010 an art based startup focused on making murals and selling customized and personalized art pieces.


Tarek Elkady
Managing Director - KD Group / Founder – Techne Summit / Founding Curator – Global Shapers Alexandria

Tarek El Kady is a leading entrepreneur in his native Alexandria, Egypt. Born and raised in Alexandria, Tarek has worked in the U.S. as a part-time web designer before launching his first company called WebArchitect. After a successful decade in this business, he launched Markade which focuses on marketing, advertising and branding. Eventually, he started Cactus which is an event management and on ground activation agency. Lastly formed KD Group which manages the operations of the three agencies and their clients which are local, regional and global. Last year, Tarek shook up the technology world by hosting two episodes of Techne Summit in Alexandria (October 2015 & May 2016). Techne Summit is a two-day international entrepreneurship technology event that acts as a platform including the main global players in the technology industry, namely: industry professionals as speakers, technology businesses, entrepreneurs and startups, investors, users and media representatives. Tarek is passionate about helping young people start their businesses. As Founding Curator of the Global Shapers Community Alexandria hub, he spends much of his time “giving” to the next generation of business owners in the region.

Ghada Sharif

I am a British-Egyptian, with 20 years of diversified experience in the key strategic fields of the full business suite of media and marketing communications, business development, project management, coaching, mentoring and psycho-therapy.  
Following my passion around the world for achievement and learning, I have developed an internationally diversified portfolio, thus, studying and working in Cairo, Dubai, New York and London.    
Driven by the belief that specialisations require comprehensive knowledge, I am now a certified marketer from Salford University, Manchester; a certified filmmaker from New York Filmmaking Academy,  London. Since 2005, I pursued my passion with degrees in coaching, mentoring and psychotherapy and became qualified and accredited from coaching and mentoring International, the  Royal  Coaching Academy and the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapy in England.  In 2006, I founded my own practice in coaching and mentoring, which I was running beside my job, and still am, where I have taken the practice offerings to new dimensions reflecting my own personal growth as a psychotherapist and programme curator and provider in Egypt.  
Throughout my career succession, I have played varied roles, from programmes director to events producer to handling the full portofolio of learning and development, corporate and marketing communications. Thorughout it all, I have developed a conpetenly diversified portfolio with comptent skills to drive projects, programmes and initiatives. My fulfilment is made through achievement and I remain a very open individual to learning while producing meaningly constructive and sustainably competent results that empowers individual, communicties and works for the greater foog of society reform.  
 In addition, having had an international career, I have capitalised on my skills, network and sustained a high intercultural competence in relationships with people from all walks of life, this included working directly with senior government officials, MPs, CEO’s, stake holders on varied projects’ relevance, donors, partners, board members, educators, entrepreneurs, senior officials, civil  servants, sponsors, youth,  advertisers, marginalised communities, media figures and press networks.   
My passion runs through my commitment to creative writing, a long followed path of accreditation and best practice since 2005, working as an accredited and certified life skills, creative performance and inner leadership coach, and as  psychotherapist, where I have founded and ran my practice in London and continued to follow through with cultural adapationations as soon as back to Cairo. Over the year, I have delivered many coaching and healing retreats and workshop with the purpose of empowering humanity to have fulfilled individual and consequently collective journeys.  
In addition, I am a fully certified filmmaker with a passion for documentaries depicting human nature and unlocking social conditioning in the human race; I enjoy photography, travel, badminton as my favourite sport. I am a drummer, and plays the piano.  
My belief is that work must be a visible portrayal of our passions, if we are ever going to create something in the world and for that, I follow a humanistic approach to all my pursuits and endeavours in this life.  


Hadia Abdel Aziz
Associate professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management

Dr. Hadia Abdel Aziz is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management, and the Director of the entrepreneurship program “IMAGINE” at the German University in Cairo. She enjoys diverse experience in banking, entrepreneurial finance, entrepreneurship development, and small business consultancy. She occupied various positions including corporate banking manager at American Express Bank, head of the technical office of the board of investment trustees, and Advisor to the Minister of investment on Entrepreneurship and Innovation.


Riham Abu Elinin

Serial entrepreneur since 2006, Winner of the Global innovation competition in 2015 by the U.S. Departments of States; founder of BznsCloud LLC “Cloud Computing, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence", Founder of BznsBuilder" A Cloud Business Intelligence Platform",  founded Zoser AG in Switzerland "A Location Intelligent Platform" where she has sold it in March 2015 and have founded other two start-ups in industrial Sector. Featured at a number of Global events like EuroMed, Startup Grind "By Google", Web summit, USAID, UN Women and Cherrie Blaire Foundation. And as part of her paying back o the community, she is the founder of one of the leading Charity organisation in Egypt "the Egyptian Clothing Bank”. and most of all she is a Mother of a boy, a girl and a dog.


Ahmed Bolica
Founder and CEO, Pimula

Ahmed Abdullah, aka, Ahmed Bolica is the founder and CEO of Pimula Agency. Ahmed, a graduate from Faculty of Commerce with an Accounting concentration, didn't find his passion in corporate life. An artist turning entrepreneur, Ahmed started his first steps in the Web Design career through self­studying. He worked as a Senior UI Developer / UX Designer for four years. During that time, Ahmed successfully grew his own startup Bolica Web Design.

Ahmed’s business background helped him understand both the end­users' and the market's needs. Thus, he was mainly concerned with supporting startups and entrepreneurs through developing a variety of services and mentorships like in Startup Weekend Egypt and Startup MENA.

Moreover, Bolica started using his creativity and experience in the career of web design because he believes that the design itself is not a goal but a means for building effective long­lasting brands, converting leads, and more.

Ahmed is interested in learning about new technologies and loves to share knowledge through his blog. He also co­founded Alexandria Web Designer community, which aims to provide help to new generations of talented designers. Additionally, Ahmed contributes to the community by giving lectures and workshops for beginners in the web design career.


Farah Shash
Senior Analyst at Ahead of The Curve

Farah Shash is a trained community psychologist working in the fields of community development and research. At Ahead of the Curve (ATC) she is leading the work on women’s economic empowerment, including implementing the ATC Women’s Leadership Network and conducting a research study on women’s economic empowerment initiatives in Egypt on behalf of UN Women and the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity. She is specialized in the field of gender and women's participation, and has experience working with Egyptian and non-Egyptian female survivors of violence and women's political participation. She has experience in counselling service provision, project design, research, policy research and advocacy for gender equality. Farah has worked as a consultant for both non-profit and for-profit organizations, including Plan International, the Center for Development Services (CDS), Drosos Foundation and Save the Children. She also worked as a service provider and researcher for human rights organizations, such as the African and Middle East Refugee Assistance (AMERA) and El Nadeem Center for rehabilitation of victims of violence and torture. She graduated with an MA in Community Psychology from the American University in Cairo, where her thesis was an assessment of gender mainstreaming as a public policy tool to achieve gender equality in Egypt, before and after the revolution. Her BA in Psychology is also from the American University in Cairo.


May El Badawi
Sr. Economic Growth Consultant

Ms. May El Badawi is an entrepreneurship specialist with over 20 years’ relevant experience in the private and development sectors promoting investment in Egyptian markets. Respected for her work linking businesses with investments, Ms. El Badawi has continuously emphasized collaboration and mentorship as essential to successful entrepreneurship.   For the past four years, she has focused her efforts in international development, acting as Sr. economic growth advisor to a number of International Organizations like World Bank, “The Business Council for International Understanding”, and “USAID” funded projects as SEED (Supporting entrepreneurship and enterprise development) and ECP (Egypt’s Competitiveness Program)   Mrs. El Badawi assumed various advisory and consulting positions for local and regional firms where she was responsible for managing all activities related to the start-up of new Egyptian companies. In 2005, she was appointed as the Advisor to the Vice Chairman of “General Authority for Investment and Free Zones” where she was responsible for The FDI Promotion and facilitation Department; In her capacity as Sr. advisor, she acted as the National Focal Point for the Egyptian government and other international organizations, Ms. El Badawi has also provided technical assistance to a number of government entities like the Social Development Fund (SFD), and “The ministry of Trade and Industry” in promoting entrepreneurship and investment.     Mrs el Badawi began her work career in early 90’s with “Campenon Bernand France” and “Vodafone Egypt” where she developed strong business skills through interacting with government officials and business associations aiming at supporting high level top management in setting strategic goals and developing and managing various job responsibilities.     Ms. El Badawi holds a Master of International Business Administration from  the “Ecole Superieure Libre des Sciences Commerciales Appliques” and Bachelor of Arts from the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels.

Ahmed Emad is a Communications Leader at Aramex. He received his B.S from Helwan University in the field of Industrial Engineering. Ahmed decided to shift his career earlier in 2008 when he started his career as a Marketing Executive in a marketing consultation agency. From this moment and he has been interested in marketing communications and event management. He has joined the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Egypt at 2011 with Entrepreneurship Magazine as a Community Manager. After attending the first Startup Weekend event in Egypt, Ahmed decided to be part of the global organization by joining SW Egypt Team. He has leaded all SW Egypt events with two lead organizers all over the past five years. Ahmed has joined Aramex International Egypt as a Senior Sustainability Officer in 2014 and now he is leading the communications. Ahmed has been interested in supporting the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Egypt even by his volunteering work with SW or his professional work with Aramex Egypt.
