Take your idea from concept to creation in 54 hours

What is Startup Weekend Sustainability?

Startup Weekend is the place to look for a team, create a prototype of your idea, validate your business idea, and receive feedback from experienced entrepreneurs, all in one weekend.

This will be the first ever Sustainability edition of Startup Weekend in Helsinki! We encourage you to put sustainability at the forefront and create the next big thing to overcome the most pressing problems of the world. You might challenge yourself this weekend by thinking how to:
  • Extend a product’s life cycle
  • Reduce food waste
  • Design sustainable cities
  • Foster user-based models instead of consumer-based models
  • Create a sustainable solution to social, educational, financial, environmental, or other challenges.
Join Techstars Startup Weekend Helsinki & get a great opportunity to test your ideas, meet potential co-founders, and launch your next sustainability-focused startup!

How does it work?

Startup Weekend is an event that offers you is a simple and proven process for taking fresh ideas from concept to creation in a matter of days.

Beginning with Friday night, you'll pitch your own idea or listen to others, then vote on the most interesting ideas and form teams with diverse skill sets. Please bear in mind that your idea should be something you have not previously worked on.

Continuing through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation, the Startup Weekend culminates in Sunday night demos and presentations, where teams present their minimum viable product (MVP) to a panel of expert judges, fellow participants and other guests.

All teams hear talks by industry leaders and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurs and mentors. The weekend is centered around action, innovation, and education.

Why should you join Startup Weekend Helsinki?

  1. You will experience what it's like in the startup world, and learn first hand about every step of building a business. At the very least it'll be a memorable weekend away from your usual daily routine.
  2. You might find your perfect co-founder soulmate with whom you'll go on to launch a successful startup, be it this weekend or down the road.
  3. We take good care of you during the weekend. All you need to bring is yourself and your laptop. We’ll provide you with:
  • 7 full (and delicious) meals over the course of the weekend

  • One-on-one time with amazing mentors
