From Idea to Startup in 54 Hours

About Startup Weekend
Startup Weekends are events designed for those who are interested to (co-)start a startup. Transform a rough idea to maturity in just 54 hours! Pitch your idea or join an idea that you are passionate about. Find awesome like-minded people, grow your network & learn new skills. Get out of the building and test your assumptions, conduct market research, tune your business model, develop your demo or prototype. On Sunday, pitch your startup concept to a jury & public audience, get feedback - and maybe your own startup will be born this weekend!

Why Startup Weekend Bremen SPACE?
Bremen is a European SPACE hotspot with 140 companies, 20 top research institutions and 12.000 people employed that generate an annual revenue of 4 Billion Euro. In 2015 Bremen hosted the very first Startup Weekend SPACE in Europe - the initial starting point for attendees to go for their entrepreneurial journey and launch startups like Valispace, satsearch, SPiN or PlanBlue!

But I'm not a Space Engineer or Scientist - is that event for me?

Innovation is not possible without diversity and influence from different disciplines. A startup weekend works by a variety of skills and experiences. Designer & creatives,  software & hardware developers, business & industry experts, people with ideas & co-founders, students & professionals meet at Startup Weekend Bremen SPACE to form teams and work on startup ideas.

Will I get support?
You are not alone! Experienced founders, experts & coaches will support you. Also food & drinks are included in your ticket so that you can focus on your project.

FAQ

1. Should everyone pitch business ideas?
No, it is not necessary. It is entirely your choice to pitch a business idea or join the team of an idea you believe in. Either ways, we want you to enjoy this exhilarating experience of building startups.
Your idea should be something you have not previously worked on. The idea you pitch and the problem you set out to solve can span social, educational, financial, environmental, or other issues. Over the course of the weekend you'll be challenged to create a prototype of your MVP, or minimum viable product, that fits the needs of your target customer. You'll get feedback, iterate, and likely pivot your approach entirely! Important: You cannot have worked previously on your idea.

2. What is the language of the event?
The event moderation will be in English. You can discuss with your teammates and mentors in language of your choice.

3. What is included in the ticket price?
Your ticket is co-sponsored by our awesome sponsors to be able to provide you more value than what you actually pay for. Your ticket includes:

  • 7 full (and delicious) meals over the course of the weekend
  • Benefits and discounts from our global partners
  • One-on-one time with amazing mentors
  • A new network of developers, designers, and entrepreneurs eager, like you, to change the world.
  • All the internet and coffee you can consume.
4. How big are the teams?
Teams of 3 to 5 members are the ideal number for optimal results.

5. What if I sign-up alone or don’t have a group?
Don’t worry if you don’t know anyone attending. We will help everyone form groups, and there will be lots of time to mingle and get to know other attendees.

6.
What do I need to bring?
A laptop and a desire to contribute! You must be able to attend Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

7. I'm not from Bremen. Can you recommend accommodation close to the event location (Kraftwerk City Accelerator Bremen / An der Weide 50a, 28195 Bremen?

    8. What do I need to bring?
Lots of energy! You'll pitch your own idea or listen to others, then vote on the most interesting ideas and form teams with diverse skill sets. You can come with friends, but you’ll get the full experience if you participate in separate teams. Remember, it’s all about the team.
