  • Transform a rough idea to maturity in just 54 hours! Pitch your idea or join an idea that you are passionate about.
  • Find awesome like-minded people, grow your network & learn new skills.
  • Get out of the building and test your assumptions, conduct market research, tune your business model, develop your demo or prototype.
  • On Sunday, pitch your startup concept to a jury & public audience, get feedback - and maybe your own startup will be born this weekend!

Why Startup Weekend Bremen HEALTH?
Awesome playground!
155,000 people work in the Bremen & Northwest metropolis in the health sector; That is 12% of the total workforce. There are numerous research institutes, universities and other training facilities ensuring dynamic talent in the regional health care industry.

But I'm not in the HEALTH business - is that event for me?
Innovation is not possible without diversity and influence from different disciplines. A startup weekend works by a variety of skills and experiences.
Designer & creatives,  software & hardware developers, business & industry experts, people with ideas & co-founders, students & professionals meet at Startup Weekend Bremen HEALTH to form teams and work on startup ideas.

Will I get support?
Experienced founders, experts & coaches will support you. Also food & drinks are included in your ticket so that you can focus on your project.

FAQ

1. Should everyone pitch business ideas?
No, it is not necessary. It is entirely your choice to pitch a business idea or join the team of an idea you believe in. Either ways, we want you to enjoy this exhilarating experience of building startups.
Your idea should be something you have not previously worked on. The idea you pitch and the problem you set out to solve can span social, educational, financial, environmental, or other issues. Over the course of the weekend you'll be challenged to create a prototype of your MVP, or minimum viable product, that fits the needs of your target customer. You'll get feedback, iterate, and likely pivot your approach entirely! Important: You cannot have worked previously on your idea.

2. What is the language of the event?
The event moderation will be in English. You can discuss with your teammates and mentors in language of your choice.

3. What is included in the ticket price?
Your ticket is co-sponsored by our awesome sponsors to be able to provide you more value than what you actually pay for. Your ticket includes:
  • 7 full (and delicious) meals over the course of the weekend
  • Benefits and discounts from our global partners
  • One-on-one time with amazing mentors
  • A new network of developers, designers, and entrepreneurs eager, like you, to change the world.
  • All the internet and coffee you can consume.
4. How big are the teams?
Teams of 3 to 5 members are the ideal number for optimal results.

5. What if I sign-up alone or don’t have a group?
Don’t worry if you don’t know anyone attending. We will help everyone form groups, and there will be lots of time to mingle and get to know other attendees.

6. What do I need to bring?
A laptop and a desire to contribute! You must be able to attend Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

7. I'm not from Bremen & can't afford expensive hotels. Can you recommend cost-sensitive accommodation close to the event location (Kraftwerk City Accelerator Bremen, An der Weide 50a, 28195 Bremen?
    8. What do I need to bring?
Lots of energy! You'll pitch your own idea or listen to others, then vote on the most interesting ideas and form teams with diverse skill sets. You can come with friends, but you’ll get the full experience if you participate in separate teams. Remember, it’s all about the team.

    Coaches and Mentors

    Eva Schobert
Founder of Herodikos & Assistant Doctor (oncological training therapy)

Eva Schobert is founder & CEO of health startup Herodikos GmbH

Herodikos tackles the problem of thight medical budgets for physiotherapy and of overburdened physiotherapists, even though phyisical exercises would be the optimal therapy for many diseases, or at least an important part of it, to remedy the causes of the symptoms.

The Herodikos app closes the gap by enabling physicians and physiotherapists to create an individual sports therapy plan for the patient with little effort. The early integration of the personalized, app-based plan not only saves time, but also serves patient motivation. Patient retention is maintained through follow-up appointments and treatment options are improved.

The app's customers include medical and physical therapy practices, rehab and acute care clinics as well as health and pension insurance.

Before founding Herodios, Eva has worked as assistent doctor in trauma surgery, orthopaedics, internal medicine, and orthopaedic & oncological rehabilitation.

Irene founded her consultancy firm, MessageLab, in London in 2000 and made a mark for herself by developing and running the pitch format for London Business Angels, the UK’s largest business angels network, for several years with seven pitch sessions per year, which was well received by investors and with over 70% of the companies receiving funding.

Irene currently works with the most successful incubator in Europe, imec in Belgium, as well as the ING Fintech Village, and, more recently, has become involved with New Space coaching the first two cohorts of “Seraphim Space Camp” in 2018, Europe’s first VC-led Space Accelerator.

Irene started her career in business journalism for “The Wall Street Journal” and CNBC television before moving into tech PR and starting her own business.

Female entrepreneurship is close to her heart and she worked for several years as a mentor for Astia, a global organisation offering support to female entrepreneurs.
