4th Startup Weekend in Saarbrücken

The Startup Weekend Saarbrücken is a joint three-day event for the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

The goal is to work out a complete startup idea and examine its marketability and feasibility. Ideally you are ready to get your idea on the road right after Startup Weekend Saarbrücken. The event’s culmination is on Sunday evening, when all teams present their results in front of a jury of local entrepreneurial leaders. Whether entrepreneurs start companies, find cofounders, meet exciting new network contacts, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5 job routine, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. If you want to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur, register now for the best weekend of your life!

Everyone is welcome! Never mind if you are a business specialist, designer, developer, student, founder or founder to be! All teams will have the opportunity to work and pitch in English or German.

There's just one requirement: All participants should have the same initial conditions. Therefore, the only restriction is that you are not already working on your business (research for the pitch preparation does not fall under this rule).

>> Friday <<
The event starts on Friday evening with a brief introduction and a pitch session. Every participant is welcome (you don't have to) to present his/her startup idea in 60 seconds. The attendees subsequently select the best ideas and build teams.

>> Saturday <<
After a joint breakfast, the work begins. Business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation are some aspects. You will work in teams and be supported by high-profile mentors from various fields.

>> Sunday <<
Business as usual! After the joint breakfast time is still running out. Projects have to be finished, pitch-presentations have to be created. Our coaches still support you during the day.

What you can expect:
  • presentation of awesome ideas
  • transfering initial ideas into business models
  • development of prototypes, businessplans and ptiches
  • coaching by thrilled mentors
  • a huge network of developers, designer & business specialists
Startup Weekend offers a network and ressources that support a team from the early idea to the final launch of a product. The motivation of the participants creats a weekend full of creativity and impressive outcome. True to the motto of Startup Weekend: No Talk - All Action!

Registration for the event is brought to you by Eventbrite.

The registration fee includes:
  • three day supply with food
  • free drinks all the time
  • flipcharts, paper, pens, etc.
Here you will find some useful tips how to successfully participate.

The event is only possible due to the generous financial support of the global and local sponsors and the work of dozens of volunteers from the startup scene of Saarbrücken. Startup Weekend Saarbrücken is a part of the global Startup Weekend network, which already counts more than 193,000 subscribers in over 150 countries worldwide. More than 23,000 teams have been founded as a result of more than 2,900 Startup Weekend events. Outstanding teams have even generated revenue and acquired first investors already during the weekend. Startup Weekend Saarbrücken is a valuable networking opportunity to connect with like-minded people in a relaxed and creative atmosphere.

___________________________________________________________________________________________

>> Sonntag <<
Business as usual!

Getreu dem Startup Weekend Motto: No Talk - All Action!

Coaches and Mentors

Kristina Scherbaum

As an employee, Kristina gathered experience in quite a few areas such as advertising, graphics, PR and computer science. In each of these areas she worked for several years but finally totally fell in love with computer science such that she completed her CS PhD a few years ago. She then started managing the cluster of excellence MMCI, a computer science research institution on Saarbrückens Campus which equipped her with a national and international network and now more than six years of management and team leading experience. However, though being most of the time an employee, Kristina always had a strong tendency towards entrepreneurial topics. Already shortly after school she founded her first company, worked in-between as a self-employed consultant and just recently co-founded her (so far) last company in the US. Her experience reaches from investor pitches, tech-launches to outsourced development. So you can expect from her solid hands-on and down-to-earth approaches on founding new businesses rather than getting the next abstract and theory-driven thoughts on what to do.
