Startup Weekend is back in town.

Bring in your ideas and skill-sets, create teams and work aided by experienced entrepreneurs.

Start Up Weekend is a global 54 hr event where developers, designers, marketeers, product managers, startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams build products and launch startups.

Apostolos Kritikos
Software Engineer, Co founder at Social Mind

My name is Apostolos Kritikos and I am a researcher and Software Engineer from Thessaloniki, Greece. My research focuses in Open Source Software Engineering, that is, the use of Free/Libre Open Source Software related theory, tools and resources to boost software development process. In 2014 I co-founded Social Mind, a 360 degrees digital marketing agency that can help you effectively build and empower your brand’s presence on the web. I support groups and initiations promoting research, innovation and entrepreneurship and I curate the Open Coffee Thessaloniki meetings.

Simon Bensasson
Head of OK!Thess

Simon, born 1945 in Thessaloniki, has an architecture degree from Aristotle and computer science from the University of London. He has worked as an architect in Zambia and Spain. He worked in the UK initially as a business consultant where he founded two companies in the IT field. In 1990 Simon entered the European Commission in Brussels, being responsible for research on future and emerging technologies in IT and telecommunications. He dealt with the promotion of "digital cities" and international cooperation in research and technological development. Later, as the senior officer responsible for international relations of the EU in the same sectors, contributed to the preparation of the EU negotiations and agreements with countries such as China, Russia, the US, Brazil and others. He came back home to Thessaloniki where he taught European politics at ACT. In 2014 he was elected member of the Thessaloniki City Council with special responsibility for innovation. In the latter capacity he is the Coordinator of OK!Thess an effort to catalyse an innovation ecosystem in the city as well as a pre-incubator for promising startups.


Dimitrios Kourtesis
Co-founder, Goodvidio & Ideas Forward

Dimitrios is a computer scientist and entrepreneur working at the intersection of applied research and product strategy. He has worked as an academic researcher and independent consultant in industrial R&D projects for over 10 years and has started two companies. He is co-founder of Goodvidio, a venture-backed marketing technology startup helping brands and retailers to improve customer experience with curated user-generated video. He is also co-founder of Ideas Forward, a technology consultancy helping software companies become stronger competitors in their market through R&D and new product development. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Sheffield.

Marketing and Office Management Specialist

Fay has a Bachelor in English Language and Literature from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and an MA in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Sheffield. She has worked on EU projects focusing on entrepreneurship, startups and innovation in the South-East European Research Centre and in various start-up companies dealing with management, marketing and content creation.


Alexandros Melis

Alexandros has a Bachelor on Mechanical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Master in Arts in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations from The University of Sheffield. He has an extensive working experience both in Event Marketing and Community Management, having worked in various startups in the past.


Nikolaos Tsoniotis
Digital Product Manager

Nikolaos Tsoniotis has a Masters in Electronic Eng. and Electronic Communication Systems from The University of Hull. He has worked as a Telecommunications R&D Engineer for over a decade. He is a serial entrepreneur with Mobile Apps, SaaS, Social Good and Hardware startup efforts, and is currently focused on Product Management for early stage startups. Mr. Tsoniotis is also the SKG.Startupers community curator, tech advisor and mentor at AgriEnt accelerator and active startup mentor in ALLILONnet. Board Member of OpenMinds.


Manolis Chatzigiannis
Technology Transfer Consultant, AUTh

Manolis has Master degrees in Economics from the University of Reading and the Aristotle University but loves to read and practice evidence-based entrepreneurship and technology commercialization. He has working experience as National and EU funding programs consultant, entrepreneurship counselor and technology transfer consultant at the Aristotle University and as a freelancer.


Fofi Mimi-Saltiel
Founder of coho – the coworking home

Fofi Mimi-Saltiel holds a Ph.D. in the area of TQM self-assessment methods (Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany) and a diploma in Mechanical Engineering of the Aristoteles University of Thessaloniki. She is also a graduate of the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Hagen, Germany. During her professional career she has worked as associate consultant of various consulting German and Greek companies in the fields of quality management, TQM vocational training and customers’ support. She has participated in research and industrial projects in Germany and Greece and she is certified quality systems advisor. She has managed introduction, development and implementation of management systems in various German and Greek companies. She has also worked as a visiting lecturer at the Department of Industrial Engineering of the Democritus University of Thrace and the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Thessaly. Since 2013 she is managing coho – the coworking home to be the right place for those who choose to work together, more productively, and make their work, their lives and communities better.


Georgia Tsiamanta
Golden Gate Pro Founder & Education Manager

Georgia has a background in Mathematics and Computer Science. She is the Founder and Education Manager of the coding academy Golden Gate Pro, and she is in charge of the educational programs aiming for the developers' up-skilling. She has a extensive experience working for SaaS startups as a Customer Success Manager and now as a Customer Support Consultant.


Aleck Alexopoulos

Aleck is a senior research scientist at CERTH with 25+ years experience
in developing a broad range of computational models in chemical engineering, physiology, and biomedical devices.

Maria is the Co - Founder at The Cube Workspace. 
Athens’ largest co-working community, which hosts some of Greece’s best experts in technology. 
The Cube is also home to most of Athens’ technology events, hackathons, innovation sessions and training events. 
Through coding and business bootcamps, The Cube is creating the next generation of top tier coders and businessmakers.
Prior to this Maria had cofounded Greece’s first coworking community, coLab Athens with her partner Stavros Messinis. 
Maria is also a member of the Startup Weekend – Global Facilitation Team.
