Social Innovation to reclaim Bengaluru

Ever wondered what it takes to be a Social Entrepreneur?
Have you ever been really frustrated about a social issue? Have you always thought of doing something about it but never really got around to do this? If you have an idea and want to test it - Then this event is for you!! We're looking to gather some of the most passionate people to work together to solve some of the world's toughest challenges. It’s a 54-hour event where we get developers, business guys and designers together to make awesome cross-functional teams and discover what entrepreneurs can do together.Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable.

On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds. Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.

This is the 1st Startup Weekend Social Innovation in India and that too in Bangalore, on May 29-31, 2015 at Intuit Technology Services Private Limited. It’s also the second coolest Startup Weekend Editions happening around the world and has grabbed the 2nd position globally in Editions Month Story Contest. As always we have an awesome list of speakers, coaches, judges, participants (you), prizes and great food. Join us for another action packed weekend!

What is Startup Weekend?
Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1,000 past events in 110 countries around the world in 2011. More than 100,000 people across the globe are SW alumni! The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a co-founder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups.

All participants get:

  • .CO is proud to be a Global Sponsor of Startup Weekend and to provide every participant access to their own .CO domain for free.
  • Google Cloud Platform is offering developers $500 of credit to build your web or mobile apps.
Winning teams are eligible for:
  • The “Who Is On Board” test by edge, a prize sponsor for Startup Weekend Social Innovation Bengaluru!
