SETHURAMAN SATHAPPAN, M.Com., CAIIB., CDCS., CiTF., is currently working as Chief Operating Officer – India with Emirates NBD, Mumbai. He has 36 years of banking experience with one Nationalised Bank and 4 foreign banks (Scotiabank, Commerzbank, MayBank Group, Doha Bank) in India.He is a regular columnist in a popular Tamil Daily “Dinamalar”, one of the largest circulated dailies in Tamilnadu and writing articles related to Exports, Imports, Economics, Start-ups for the last 19 years. He has written more than 1500 articles in TAMIL on the above subjects till now.
His Start-up columns are very popular among Tamil Readers.He has also conducted seminars at various places in Tamilnadu on Exports and Imports. One such seminar in Karur has attracted around 1700 participants. Conducted two seminars in UCP (the International rules for Export / Import documentation) in Tamil for the benefit of Tirupur Exporters. The first one was attended by 660 and the second one was attended by 1200 participants.
Delivered lectures in more than 50 seminars in India and International relating to exports. He has been invited for International Export Documentation Seminars by Kenyan Government for the last 12 years.
He has also written 17 books, 6 in Tamil on Exports, Imports and Savings and 11 in English. Translated UCPDC 600 (the rule book for export documentation) in Tamil for the benefit of Tamilnadu Exporters which has become really useful to the exporters to make the export documents without mistakes.
In the last three years, he has mentored / advised many youngsters in new businesses / start-ups.
Recently he has been conferred "Advocate" title by London Institute of Banking and Finance for his work on Exports Documentation in the last 20 years.

What is Techstars Startup Weekend Madurai?
Startup Weekend Madurai is for everyone who wishes to make a difference. Teams are formed around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. All teams are presented with the opportunity to hear talks by industry leaders and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurs. The weekend is centered around action, innovation, fun and learning.
As already mentioned, anyone and everyone is welcome! Typical crowd of Startup Weekend consists of:
1.Developers and Hackers who can code with sublime tempo and expertise.
2.Domain experts and Business people who are proficient on the market needs.
3.Designers with impregnable aesthetics and strong UI & UX skills.
4.Hustlers who can steer the project and can pitch their idea with ardor, looking to build a team around their idea.
You get a chance to meet smart and passionate people from different backgrounds. Following the start of the event, you get your idea validated with the very best industry mentors and get to equip yourself with the right tools to help build your startup idea. build out a complete startup idea and examine its marketability and
feasibility. Start the event with Friday night pitches and team
creation, get down to business plan development on Saturday, and pitch
your final prototype creation to the crowd and panel of experts on
Sunday evening. Ideally you are ready to take your idea to the
market right after Startup Weekend Madurai.
