Have you ever had an idea for improving education? Here’s your opportunity to transform your education ideas into action in 54 hours. Find the right people with complementary skills & the passion to build an education product in one weekend. Design for learning, conduct user tests, receive coaching from experienced education designers & industry professionals and win prizes that will help take your idea to the next level!
  • Wednesday night: 60-second pitches that result in the formation of small teams around the best, most viable education concepts.  Educators validate ideas, then all attendees vote.  We hope you’ll pitch, but definitely not required!
  • Thursday and Friday: Work days! Teams focus on user research, customer development, validating their ideas and building prototypes with the help of experienced coaches from the education and entrepreneurial world.  You’re welcome to stay and work as long as the venue will allow!
  • Friday evening: Teams demo their education products and receive valuable feedback from a panel of expert judges.  Winning teams take home a grab bag of great tools to help launch their company!
Here’s some examples of startups that have come out of Startup Weekend EDU:
is a mobile collaboration tool for students to help each other with math homework. Founded at Startup Weekend EDU Seattle 2013, the startup is now in the Imagine K12 edtech accelerator.
Qeyno is a career exploration game that helps inform students about possible STEM career options & offers guidance on how to achieve them.
Kidfit Academy is a nonprofit running interactive physical & health education curriculum that empowers students to take control of their health & wellness with fun technology.

Here’s some of the things you get from attending

MohammadReza Shabanali

Born in Iran.Studied BSc. of Mechanical Engineering and also got Master of Business Administration. Worked for international companies such as Robel ,Hegenscheidt, Plasser & Theurer . As I have always been interested in personal development and negotiation skills, always tried to keep myself up-to-date and now, decided to take one step forward by sharing what I have seen and read in last decade.

Shahin Tabary
Chairman of Board of Directors of Chargoon Companies

Shahin A. Tabari was born in August 1974 in the city of Tehran and studied Mechanical Engineering in the university. He graduated in this field in 1999. But thanks to his great interest in software production stepped into the state information technology arena as a professional expert. In 1998, he constructed a company, which is now providing entrepreneurship and rendering services as a successful entity and one of the best in the state software arena. He as the founder of Chargoon Company has been in the capacity of Managing Director for 13 years trying to promote Chargoon and at present is in the capacity of Chairman of Board of Directors of Chargoon Companies Group. In addition to broad activity in the state software arena and efforts for promoting the information technology in the country, he also acts as a professional athlete in the nationwide arena of health and sport.

Co-founder of PersianBlog and CEO of PooyaSoft

Ata is a well known, serial entrepreneur in Iran's web community. His experiences as one the co-founders of the Iranian popular blogging service (PersianBlog) and other successful startups such as Eranico, has been a true gift for other startups/teams as well. Currently as the CEO of PooyaSoft co. and senior consultant of information technology organization of Iran (ITC), he mostly spends on managing his software development teams, working on web based applications and new web services and startups.

Behzad Sadeghi

Behzad Sadeghi has close to 30 years of experience in both the technology and business ends of the software industry. In the late 90’s, he co-founded a US technology startup in the field of Elliptic Curve Cryptography, raised over $5 million in both debt and equity financing for the company over a seven-year period, and served as its VP of Business Development through the company’s sale to ICEsoft Technologies. Today, he advises software teams on how to produce high-quality software.

Saleh BaradaranAmini
Service Designer

Freelance Service Designer, believing in the positive socioeconomic impact of developing service design discipline in our underdeveloped country, Iran. 
Hoping to get a chance of studying abroad to broaden my view of service design methodologies and take part in their development, then return for more research and practice.

Mehran Davoudi
Independent Software Professional

He works as IT consultant for large companies in Iran, known for his experience in building successful large-scale software projects. Also he knows the Iran "Startup ecosystem" and usually is being invited as a mentor for startups 

Mehrdad Alahkarami
Software Developer / 3D Cloud gaming

Mehrdad Allahkarami is a computer software engineer. He is mainly programing with java and J2EE. He has assisted in many big projects like JavaForge and CCB (Cloud Core Banking) which has deployed J2EE technology.
He has turned to developing games lately. His main project is developing games under cloud infra-structure at Amazon company.
He has developed a toolkit for a game engine as well which enhanced game developing.

Shahin Katebi
Software Architect & Developer

Shahin is a software architect and developer with over 10 years of experience in creating software for various platforms (Mac, iOS, Windows, and the Web). He works as a mobile solutions consultant with different companies, and also works with some startup teams worldwide. He teaches iOS/Mac OS development, authors technical software development books and as a mentor at Startup Weekend events, helps startup teams make their own business. He is a founder at Seeb, a creative mobile app development organization creating apps for companies around the world.

Farnood Foroudi
Designer and Illustrator

With a university degree in Software engineering, Farnood chose to be a user interface designer and front-end developer. With about 10 years of experience in UI design for products and services, He Co-Founded a creative group of developers and designers focused on making unique and professional mobile apps and services.
​Tehran Air, Fidilio 2.0 and Parsian Bank Mobile Apps are some of his successful works.

Vahid Taghizadeh
Senior Web Developer

Vahid is a senior web developer and expert in front-end. He worked for a lot of Persian and foreign companies but recently he leaves his co working and started to create and publish new startup project named "Camva", a Persian website builder.

Pooya Khaloo
iOS Developer

Pooya is senior iOS developer in Seeb. He was one of the team members who won the first Tehran StratupWeekend. He worked with lot’s of companies and he’s a skilled developer.

Pooya Mahmoodian
CEO at Axprint

Pooya is a co-founder, board member and CEO of “” the first online photo publishing service in Iran. Leading this successful business brought him valuable experiences in running a startup: creating business model, defining business strategies and vision, operations management, branding, marketing, growth hack, etc. Pooya is also the borad member of Tehran ICT Guild and head of e-commerce commision of this organization.

Majid Alavizadeh
Founder of Majidonline

Majid has founded and managed MajidOnline since its inception. The site has helped solve many design, programming related problems. He has now started his own company building and consulting websites for different businesses.

Emad Ghaeni
CEO and Founder of Webyad

Emad is studying PhD in human resource management in Tehran University. He has been working in e-learning field more than 8 years and has contributed in running more than 30.000 online courses. His latest work is “Webyad” which is a learning network and enable everyone to teach and learn.

Siavash Keshmiri

Siavash commenced his professional life by publishing educational course "Wordpress Theme Design" on his personal blog,

He has acquired more knowledge from his blog than his readers! And hence, Web design has turned to become his career in less than 6 months.

He co-founded “Hamrahyar” and developed one of the most successful apps in Iran app market named “Nabze Bazaar”.
He is a web designer and android app developer in Tenet Academy who loves startups and wishes to provide job opportunities for talented people and moreover, help them make what they need.

He is a Professional Web developer who loves web based platforms. his hubby is making creative products using PHP, JavaScript, Node.js. he also is studying a lot about Business, User Experience, Usability and User Interface design. he has lots of experiences in leadership of Iranian teams in IT field

 I am experiencing life for years as a researcher in the field of Management and Entrepreneurship. My career path in education system at University of Tehran is different, my master is Entrepreneurship management and my PhD is Marketing management that focus on Small and Medium Enterprise. This is unique!
For about eight years now, I have been busy with full-time Research, Teaching and Consultant for many organizations. Both my professional and my academic experience is about Management special Marketing for Small and Medium Enterprise, strategic management, Product Innovation, International Marketing.
