Startup Weekend is a 54 hour event that brings together Dublin's designers, devs, entrepreneurs, and experts to do awesome things!

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and embark on a three-day frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation.

The weekend culminates with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback! If you want to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur and contribute to a more sustainable world, be part of Startup Weekend Dublin.

Francesco Bianchi
Senior Software Developer

10 years of experience in Software Development. I worked in a multitude of contexts and industries: from consultancy companies working for Public Administration, to small startups working in the Cloud space and Intelligent Virtual Assistants, to the implementation of turn key projects for Banks and Manufacturing companies. And now of course in the travel industry with MTT :)

Most of my experience is about web development on the Java stack. I was often involved (sometimes as a lead) in the Full Software Development Lifecycle and sometimes I was responsible for it. This means that I got my hands dirty in gathering requirements directly from the customer to design a solution going through implementation, deploy an assistance post production. When I covered the role of pure developer, I usually worked as a Full Stack, that means I got exposure to all the technology layers involved in the application we were developing (it's like being here at the same time a Server and Android developer)

In this way I was able to build a wide portfolio of business cases that I experienced in first person. I can now use this portfolio as a reference and comparison to most of situation I could face in the future. I've been told I have a very keen eye in spotting points of failure and points of improvement in software architectures and processes in general. That's also something I love to do, together with software design sessions and code reviews.

- Invented & built, a technology for making software simulation quizzes in a snap.

- Managed E-commerce Store Development - Buddabag. We reached sales growth from 0 to 100k in the first year.
- Built FinTech startup Oscreener for traders to back test option strategies before risking capital on the real market.

Corporate experience:  Held a Senior position at MasterCard.

Also, as a consultant, managed projects involving network security changes for multinational companies and Irish Government departments.

Specialties: Product Development | User Interface Design | Outsourcing | Usability | Digital Marketing | IT/Network Security | Server Admin | FinTech | EdTech

Daniel Johnsen
Founder, The Recovery Station

Founder, The Recovery Station (winner of Startup Weekend Lexington, Kentucky 2013)
From:KY (we love bourbon), live in Louisville, Kentucky, United States; currently residing in Longreach, Queensland, Australia.
Background: Founded a few companies, currently making a vending kiosk that dispenses pre/post workout drinks like protein shakes that are customizable and blended on-demand for everyday athletes in gyms (idea was the #1 placing idea at a Startup Weekend during a global startup battle).  I'm heavily active in Louisville & KY's startup scene where I help from basic mentoring with early stage ideas, organize Startup Weekends, throw happy hours for the startup & tech scene, the go-to person for pitch feedback before our area accelerator demo days, and random other items that I often forget and just do as they show up on my calendar.  I have a passion for asking some pretty forceful questions to get early stage entrepreneurs to evaluate their market, problem and solution and arrive at some decision point sooner rather than waiting 18+ months to launch MVPs, scale or bury the idea.
SW/UP: Been part of 30+ (?) Startup Weekends as: Sunday night observer x4; team lead x2; organizer x4; facilitator x1; judge x1; only KY rep for 2014 Vegas Summit; Startup Next participant x3 (I think I hold some type of non-verifiable record for as many ideas as I've taken through); Startup Next mentor x1
