Briga Hynes
Entrepreneurship Lecturer at U.L.

Briga is a lecturer in Entrepreneurship at the University of Limerick and Programme Director for the MBS in International Entrepreneurship Management. Briga's teaching extends the area of entrepreneurship to include Enterprise Development, Business Consulting, Managing International Business Growth and Internationalising Entrepreneurial Ventures. Her teaching experience spans undergraduate, postgraduate and post-experience groups. 

Briga’s main research interests lie in entrepreneurship and SME growth, with a principal focus on an evaluation of the determinants of small firm growth; an investigation into the challenges of measuring small firm growth and the process strategy development in the SM

Founded Ocean Survivor 2014, Award winning Ocean Survivor are currently developing a simple to use product that mitigates the effects of hypothermia, while promoting comfort and mental well-being in a cold water survival situation. Ocean Survivor possesses a proactive approach of donating heat to the user’s body in a survival situation. The design was shortlisted top 20 in the world in the James Dyson award. Most recently Ocean Survivor  Limericks Best Start-up and won overall winner of IntertradeIreland prestigious Seedcorn competition securing €100,000 investment. 

Kieran graduated Product Design & Technology at the University of Limerick with an Honours Degree.

Gillian is head of the Innovation & Enterprise Office whose mission is to deliver high quality support for aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators at the early stages of their startup journey in order to maximise the opportunity for venture success. LIT have the largest portfolio of enterprise, incubation and acceleration centres in Ireland with 7 centres across Limerick and Tipperary.  They have a highly successful RD&I function to support growing companies as well as startups who can scale, have 2 seed funds and run Enterprise Ireland’s National Entrepreneur Development Programme for emerging High Potential Startups called New Frontiers

Robbie graduated from Business Information Systems in UCC in 2014. Robbie is now the co-founder and Head of Business Development at Kollect; Irelands fastest growing and top rated waste company. He sits on the board of Start-up Waterford for his involvement with the start-up scene and is twice listed in Irelands 30 under 30.

David is a talented communicator and connector, with a unique understanding of the Irish and European startup ecosystems.


Tracey Keogh
Community Manager at Bank of Ireland

Tracy is Co Founder at Lokr.

Previously Tracy has won best pitch at Startup Weekend Dublin and has also organised and been lead organiser at Startup Weekend Dublin!

She runs a number of community events, holds a board seat on the Irish Internet Assoc. and has experience in getting multiple startups off the ground.


Marie Curtin
Co-Founder

Having travelled the world through representing the Irish Women's soccer team from age 14-27.

Marie returned to Ireland in 2013 to pursue some buisiness ideas she could not shake. One of the few ideas she ended up putting her energy towards was bringing a range of Flavoured milks to market with her father and dairy farmer, Sean Curtin. She would end up calling the brand Temple Dairy and using the tag line 'Your Body is a Temple. Treat it Like One!'

Marie developed a healthier and more natural alternative than what's currently on the market-her first product being a cocoa and milk based Chocolate Milk.
Her innovation has led to a successful first year in business. She has aspirations to develop more lines and products to market with health and wellness as an essential facet to her products and brand. 



Liliana Pasquale

Liliana is a research fellow at Lero (Ireland) since April 2015. She received a PhD in Information and Communication Technology from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in 2011 and she was also a summer intern at IBM TJ Watson Research Center (USA) in 2008. Her research interests include requirements engineering and adaptive systems. In particular, her work has focused on using runtime requirements models to engineer complex systems, including service compositions and multi-tenant services, cyber-physical systems, mobile device management software and more generally systems aimed to satisfy their security and privacy requirements and to be forensically ready.

She is a very accomplished researcher and Software Expert and her varied industry experience makes her a very good fit for Startup Weekend teams.

John has proven himself as excellent at managing at all levels within an organization, including working with corporate management and boards.

Maria Calafatis
Co - Founder Cube

Co - Founder at The Cube Athens, Athens’ largest co-working community, which hosts some of Greece’s best experts in technology.
The Cube is also home to most of Athens’ technology events, hackathons, innovation sessions and training events.
Maria has been involved with Startup Weekend since 2009, having facilitated over 20 events around the world in cities such as Torino, Athens, Volos, Larissa, Thessaloniki, Patra, Vlasic, Copenhagen, Limerick, Moldova and more.
Her first business was founded at a Startup Weekend.
Maria was invited to join as a fellow to the RSA community in 2016 which provides a platform for the world's leading thinkers, sharing their ideas online, while their Action and Research Centre searches for new and innovative ways to solve society’s greatest challenges.
She loves challenges and connecting with people with the same mindset as her own and turning nothing into something huge & impactful.
A mother to two young boys Panos 14 & George 12, loves to travel and staying fit & active, and loves trying out extreme sports.
