Startup Weekend Georgetown is 54-hour events designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs. Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation, Startup Weekend Georgetown culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations. 

Participants create working startups during the event and are able to collaborate with like-minded individuals outside of their daily networks. All teams hear talks by industry leaders and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurs. The weekend is centered around action, innovation, and education.  

Whether you are looking for feedback on an idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Startup Weekend Georgetown is the perfect environment to test your idea and take the first steps towards launching your own startup.

Wan Dazriq
Manager of Strategic Initiatives, ASEAN Centre of Entrepreneurship (ACE), MaGIC

Dazriq specializes in areas of change and transformation. He currently heads the Strategic Initiatives team with ASEAN Centre of Entrepreneurship at Malaysian Global Innovation Creativity Centre (MaGIC). Prior to MaGIC, he has experiences in strategize, execute and implement continuous improvement initiatives for large scale transformation projects with various multinational companies in Malaysia. Dazriq holds special interest for matters relating to education equity and public health awareness as far as addressing societal needs are concern.

Dr Wan Abdul Rahaman
Advisor, Polymer and Bio-base Industry, Northern Corridor Implementation Authority

Dr. Wan Abdul Rahaman Bin Wan Yaacob serves as the Advisor of Biotechnology Initiatives for the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority in Malaysia. He has 40 years of experience in the biotechnology and rubber industries including both research and executive level positions. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Biomolecular Science at the Universiti Putra Malaysia. He served as the Executive Vice President of Eco System for the Innovation Agency of Malaysia.

Dr. Nor Azmi
Senior Vice President Talent Development of CREST

More than 20 years industrial R&D experience, in technical and management roles ranging from semiconductor packaging, electronic chemicals, electrochemical applications, and telecommunication product design and components technology. Graduate school experience in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy method for characterization and prediction of failures of metals and composite in marine environment; in depth analysis of failure mechanism through surface, elemental and compositional analysis.
