The First Startup Weekend in Johor Bahru !

Startup Weekends are 54-hour events designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs.  

Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.

The weekend is centered around action, innovation, and education.  Whether you are looking for feedback on a idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Startup Weekends are the perfect environment in which to test your idea and take the first steps towards launching your own startup.

The 3 winners will be incubated and the top 2 will qualifies for Global Startup Battle to compete with the Startup Weekend winners of other cities across the globe. Join us and come with your big idea that can complete at the global level ! Only 100 tickets available !

Ganesh Kumar Bangah
CEO, MSC Cyberport

Ganesh Kumar Bangah is the Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of MOL Global Pte. Ltd. In this capacity he leads the two wholly owned subsidiaries of MOL Global, namely MOL AccessPortal Berhad (“MOL”), a global online payment service provider and Friendster Inc. (“Friendster”), the world’s pioneer social network. He co-founded and built MOL from scratch to become one of the biggest online payment service providers in Asia with annual revenues of over USD200Million. MOL today has over 680,000 physical payment channels across 80 countries worldwide and handles over 5,000,000 transactions a month.

Vidit is a NUS and Stanford graduate. Ex banker and Uber's first employee in Asia, Vidit runs Operations for Singapore and owns the JB market.


Shamsudin Yusoff
SVP, Corporate Development & Finance

Shamsudin is responsible for leading 2 key portfolios namely Business Process Improvements, and Business Development at Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), a federal government agency entrusted to facilitate the development of an economic region of Iskandar Malaysia.

He has over 16 years of experience in management within corporate and end-user environments, and being hands-on in leading and managing various programs and projects across both IT and business areas to improve overall business and operations performances for private and public sectors.

Ramlee Bin Jaafar
CTO, Cyberport

Ramlee Bin Jaafar is the Chief Technical Officer of the Company. Subsequent to graduating with a Diploma in Animal Science from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, he started his career as credit officer in Bank Pertanian Malaysia.

He formed one of the first Internet companies in Malaysia, Cyberfield Sdn Bhd & took led  in several major system integration, e-solutions and web-based development project including the development of state government websites, automotive manufacturing automation systems, wide area network implementations and e-government systems.

Director of MaGIC Startup Academy, MaGIC

Dr. Lau Cher Han is currently an IT trainer, consultant and CTO of Co-oprating.com. Of his career, he builds many web and mobile applications using a wide range of technology stack. He built Co-oprating.com using ASP.NET on Azure Cloud, running NoSQL database. Dr. Lau is a senior member of QUT Mobile Innovation Lab that delivers app training and develop apps, previously he developed a news detection system using machine learning and text mining for FairFax Digital (Australia). During his PhD, he created a news mining system to detect news from microblogs, by processing tweets with big data analysis technique, using a wide range of tools of Python, Ruby and Rails, .NET to hazardous material MEAN.


Jam Long
New Media Researcher, The One Academy

Jam Long is a Multimedia Designer, specialising in UIX & interactive design. Jam's design envisioned to create an experiences that make people smile via human-friendly interactive technology.

Apart from his full-time commitment at The One Academy as New Media Researcher, he actively involved in hackers and makers community, exploring new technology and ideas in the realm of Art and Design.


Rob Lee
Managing Director, Common Extract

Rob, founded Common Extract, a boutique Mobile Apps and Games development company, providing development and consultancy services to various sectors in the region. He also co-founded ONz with William Yap, a sports startup that is currently transitioning under Ministry of Youth and Sports's #FitMalaysia campaign. Common Extract also partner with regional industry leaders to penetrate the Mobile App market utilizing their existing network and reach.


Dan Kimball
Lead Coach, RAVe

Dan is a Serial Entrepreneur with 30 years of Engineering & Business development experience in California. He is the proud father of "PenTop Computing" by holding among the earliest patents in the field. A consummate Educational Technologist he is a creative electronic & software developer for both computer and embedded products. He is the creative force behind the creation of a variety of innovative computer and multi media products. He founded and ran two educational technology companies AudioTutor International Inc. in Santa Barbara California and currently Link-Learning. His personal interests are in Globalising Education and delivering Powerful Tools for Learning. He is the Lead Coach and co-founder of "RAVe" an emerging business accelerator in Kuala Lumpur.

Oko (Full name: Bat-oktyabri Davaasuren, Даваасүрэн овогтoй Бат-октябрь) is an active founder and a community builder. He has cofounded and helps run several startups in Asia. Oko has received a bachelors degree in Finance from Portland State University before continuing onto a masters degree in Engineering Technology Management but decided to return home to Mongolia. He then received his MBA in Mongolia. When he is not working, he can be found on Squash courts or on long-haul Motorbike rides in Asia.
