Do you have an idea you'd like to pursue or a problem you'd like to solve but don't know where to start or who to start with?

Techstars Startup Weekend is the place to look for a team, create a prototype of your idea, validate your business idea, and receive feedback from experienced entrepreneurs, all in one weekend.

What do you need to bring?

Lots of energy! You'll pitch your own idea or listen to others, then vote on the most interesting ideas and form teams with diverse skill sets. You can come with friends, but you’ll get the full experience if you participate in separate teams. Remember, it’s all about the team.

Your idea should be something you have not previously worked on. The idea you pitch and the problem you set out to solve can span social, educational, financial, environmental, or other issues. Over the course of the weekend you'll be challenged to create a prototype of your MVP, or minimum viable product, that fits the needs of your target customer. You'll get feedback, iterate, and likely pivot your approach entirely! Important: You cannot have worked previously on your idea.

Techstars Startup Weekend is a full weekend long experience. Your ticket includes:

Sai Kit Ng
Chief Executive, Captii Ventures

Sai Kit is the Chief Executive of Captii Ventures, a venture capital company that he helped set up in late 2014. Captii Ventures is now a multistage investor in technology companies in Southeast Asia with an aggregate of 16 investments across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam, including Avana, Digify, Alterra, Sorabel, MuslimPro, Computer Guys and Mimosatek.

Hafidah Abdul Samat
Senior Assistant Vice President, Lead Editor, Digital Media & Big Data, Astro Awani

Hafidah, aka Fida, is the senior assistant vice president of Astro Awani. She have been in this industry for years. She is the lead editor of Astro Awani news, digital media and big data. She is a outgoing person, always open minded and jovial.

Johnson Lam
Founder of KakiDIY Dot Com

Johnson Lam a hardcore DIY enthusiast. Started to DIY and make things since young; mainly to make and modify his own toys. Eventually put his DIY skills into building his first DIY computer business at the age of 19 to fund his studies. Johnson loves Photography, Crazy over Cars and Gadgets. From the skill sets harnessed from being a Maker and DIY experiences, he managed to convert all his passion into action and with some entrepreneurial magic, make them work for him. Founded KakiDIY which focuses on DIYs; mainly up-cycling and recycling old stuff into something artistic and useful. Since last year, Johnson via KakiDIY also inspired and incubated new Makers into enterprising mindset and eventually building their own company selling their products and services internationally. KakiDIY also scouts for talented makers and collaborate them into building solutions for the industry.

Mohamed Tarek El-Fatatry
Founder & Managing Hero, ERTH: E-waste Recycling

Award-Winning, Finnish-Egyptian Entrepreneur; Founder & CEO of ERTH. Mo started his entrepreneurial career as the Founder & CEO of Muxlim, which became the world’s largest Muslim lifestyle network reaching millions of users in 190 countries. During his work at Muxlim, he was the first immigrant to receive the "President of Finland’s Internationalization Award"​ by President Halonen and was among 200 business leaders recognized by President Obama at the “Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship”. A frequent public speaker, he was previously the grand winner of TEDxAmsterdam's special event "New Power" and wrote a regular column in Finland's largest Technology & Business newspaper "Tekniikka & Talous".

Jan Wong
Founder of OpenMinds

Jan Wong is an entrepreneur, youth advocate, and founder of OpenMinds; a 7 years bootstrapped, data-driven martech company based in KL, Singapore and Hong Kong. Starting at the age of 17, he has ventured into eight businesses, a part time lecturer at the Asia Pacific University (APIIT / APU), a certified e-commerce consultant, published an academic journal during his Masters degree, sits on the Academic Advisory Board of KDU and Sunway College, a regional keynote speaker in events and conferences, a mentor for multiple startup communities and NEXT50 Singapore, regular contributor on BFM radio, a TEDx speaker, and more recently, listed on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2017 list.

Andre Teow
Co-founder, Stealth Healthtech Startup

Andre is currently working on new ventures within the healthtech space. His current interest is in making quality healthcare more accessible for the masses. Andre specializes in rapid prototyping and go-to-market experimentation, preferring to let data and analytics drive decision making. He has previously consulted for MaGIC, the Global entrepreneurship community, OYO Rooms, Foodpanda, Tan Chong Group, and has worked with numerous venture funds on their project incubation.

Mohd Hafiz Safie
CEO / Founder of Sparadise

Expert in Ui/ UX, Product development, Entrepreneur | Branding Expert

Mohd Hafiz Safie is a user experience and interface professional who has worked actively in the web industry for over a decade. He specialises in information architecture, interaction design, usability, user interface and user research for web and mobile. Hafiz has created web and mobile experiences for many companies including KLCC, Celcom, POS Malaysia, Govermant agencies and many more. 

As the CEO of Sparadise and former Lead Product Design and Ui/UX at AVANA, Hafiz works with teams closely to create product strategies that satisfy users and drive business goals.

He is actively involved in the tech community, helping as adviser and mentoring to many startups company to answer two important questions before building a product – “Should you build this?" and "Why?”.

Hanafi Shahrain

Mohd Izzairi Yamin
Founder / CEO, ZeptoExpress

A web technologist and has been developing web applications since his teenage days. That’s the x-factor that has driven him to master deeply into mobile and web technologies. He graduated in Computer Science studies and started working as a full time coder and has vast experience in developing banking and insurance systems while working for a MNC company, and he then continued his career into drone technologies (Aibotix) . He has great passion towards the mobile and web technology and he strongly believes that BIG DATA and mobile apps will be dominating the future of today's computing.

Stanley Chong
Partner, Ingenious Haus Group

Stanley has more than 25 years of experience in the information technology industry. Over the past 15 years, he has been involved in managing and on advisory role to Tech and Internet companies, playing an active role in coaching, fundraising and overall expansion for these companies.

Stanley has personally been investing and coaching tech startups for the past 10 years with organisations such as Cradle, MaGIC, Cyberview Living Lab, Proficeo's Coach & Grow program, Investor Readiness Program etc. He has been a panel judge for many pitching and fundraising events as well.
