Do I need to come with an idea?

If you have an idea for a startup, then great! We hope you pitch for the weekend.  If you don't have an idea, that's quite all right!  You can still come and spend the weekend, listen to the ideas being pitched, and see if something strikes your interest! Danish Athif

COO & Co Founder of MyBump Media. We are a crowd advertising platform based in Malaysia for brands looking to leverage off to real people, with real lives to endorse your brand. Dhanish is a Lean Startup Coach and has worked with Lean Startup Machine ASEAN, organizing and mentoring workshops in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Dhanish's expertise are in lean business processes, lean marketing and community management.

Adam Saleem

As a Director of both Crown Company and Tree Top Investments in the Maldives, Adam oversees both companies investment portfolio within Tourism, Finance and Healthcare.Prior to moving to the Maldives, Adam held various accounting and managerial roles within the Professional Services, Hospitality, Transportation, Telecommunications and Information Technology industries in New Zealand, United Kingdom and Kenya.Adam is a qualified Chartered Accountant with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. In addition to this qualification, Adam holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology in New Zealand and a Masters of Business Administration from Cranfield School of Management in the United Kingdom.


Mariyam Visam

Ms. Mariyam Visam was appointed as a board member of CMDA in January 2014 pursuant to her appointment as the Registrar of Companies (ROC). Prior to her appointment as the ROC, she held the position of the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of CMDA. During her tenure at CMDA, she was the Director General for Pension Supervision and the CMDA representative on the board of Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO).


Yaseen Hameed

Yaseen Hameed is the Managing Director of Barque Investments Pvt Ltd, the parent company of Jazz Cafe' and the Civil Coffee Society. Both outlets are famed for being unique in design and the products they serve, earning an excellent reputation as one of the two of most popular hangouts in town.

Anurag Maloo is an Indo-Asian startup innovation Community Architect. As a Regional Manager for South & Central Asia with Techstars and Startup Weekend, he is responsible for the cultivation and sustained growth of vibrant startup ecosystems in India, SAARC nations (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Maldives) and Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan). He is incredibly passionate about fostering entrepreneurship, innovation ecosystem, grassroots leadership, and building strong collaborative startup communities. He has been involved in various startup initiatives, community empowerment and leadership development programs, and bringing innovation into the corporate world. With his proven track records of experience cultivating key influencers within diverse geopolitical regions, Anurag has succeeded in creating inclusive startup communities in turbulent and struggling, yet developing ecosystems and emerging economies of Asia. Fareeha Shareef

Ms. Fareeha currently holds the position of Executive Director at FJS Consulting Pvt Ltd. She has also been an Independent Consultant of Adam Smith International since 2012.Ms Fareeha has professional experience in various fields such as auditing, accountancy, financial management and governance. In addition, she has vast experience in financial modeling, including banking, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and socioeconomic research in Maldives and in the international arena.


Husam Shareef

Husam is a co-founder of CTL Strategies, a law firm specialized in taxation and corporate law. As a tax adviser at the firm, he currently advises some of the biggest names in the Maldives' business community.
With his extensive experience as a tax practitioner, combined with his background in economics and governance, he advises international and local businesses on their setup and capital structures that achieves the optimal tax position.


Naail Abdul Rahman

Managing Partner at Intellea Partnership, software development firm responsible for some of the most popular mobile apps in the market. An experienced software engineer with over 8 years in the software industry, and more than 5 primarily as an Android developer.
Naail is available to offer insight into tech driven startups, particularly his unique perspective on how to effectively expand and grow your business into the mobile market.


Jawish Hameed

Jawish Hameed holds a Master of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Cybernetics from the University of Reading (UK), He also has a record of entrepreneurship, having started a software development company at age 16 and co-founding a robotics startup that worked on an ambitious robotics platform. He has more than twelve years of experience in software development and is fluent in a myriad of programming languages and technologies. He also has extended practical experience in electronics and hardware design.
Jawish is an avid science educator and passionately works to engage the public on various topics in science via Science Emmenah, a nonprofit organisation. He is passionate about opensource and free software and has made notable contributions to the local community.
Jawish is particularly interested in bionics and automation that push and improve the human condition.


Nasrullah Adnan

With over 10 years of product design experience, Nattu Adnan is currently the Lead Product Desginer at SoCar Malaysia and the brains behind the Animations preview platform, LottieFiles. Nattu is a veteran in UI/UX, Wireframing, interactive design, and has a keen eye for everything design. Some of his more recent work include not only designing but building ServisHero, the online services marketplace, and it’s spinoff Banzoo, an end-to-end workplace management dashboard. As an avid photographer and a social media enthusiast, Nattu is one of the force behind the 2 million following on the Maldives Facebook page. He enjoys listening to design podcasts, crafting perfectly curated snapchat stories, and building communities that foster better.


Junaina Ahmed

Juna is an experienced associate at one of the Maldives' leading commercial firms, Shah, Hussain & Co. Barristers and Attorneys. She has recently acted as the national legal expert for the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Development Project at the Ministry of Economic Development. During her time with the Project, Juna focused on introducing legal reforms targeted at ease of business, and creating legal awareness in the SME community.


Ali Shafee Saeed

Since a very early age, he found his strength lay in visual expression, which led him to pursue an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts. This combined with a subsequent MA in Marketing Management provided the foundation for his current work as a Marketing Communication Consultant. On completion of his Masters, he moved back to the Maldives. One of the challenges he faced was the practical application of learned conventional marketing principles to a location, which was geographically very unique. The 10 years he spent in Maldives working on diverse marketing projects has allowed him to innovate new approaches and processes to address these challenges, as well as work closely with different government institutions & UN agencies on nationally significant, and socially relevant campaigns, at research, planning, design and implementation levels.


Mohamed Mirshan Hassan

Mirshan is a veteran marketing expert, with over a decade of experience in the field. Mirshan has overall responsibility for heading all marketing communications including brand management, advertising, corporate communications, CSR and public relations at Dhiraagu, one of the leading brands in the Maldives.
Mirshan’s team at Dhiraagu is a relatively young group of professionals, meaning he is particularly familiar with working with and mentoring young people to develop products and brands that would resonate with the market.


Bassam Adam

Characterized by resilience, savvy, and brilliant intuition, the serial entrepreneur, who established first online food delivery service in Maldives. He is the founder and CEO of Badhige.com, Kyboot Swiss flagship store and many more under Reinvent Maldives Pvt Ltd . He is also a Founder of Back to Bike Cycling Movement, “ BikeMaldives “(Currently the Bicycle Association of Maldives ) . He has over 15 years’ experience working collaboratively with business partners in all phases of business management, restructuring, and transformation.


Ahmed Afrah

Afrah (Ahmed Mohamed) started his professional career in the Maldives Police Service as a Crime Scene  Investigator. After further studies he worked as a Forensic Video and Image Analyst until he found his passion in Specialty Coffee. So, he took a bold move to quit his job and cofounded Coffee Lab Maldives to introduce specialty coffee industry to Maldives. Started from the bottom, investing his time and energy in learning the basics of what it takes to build a business from scratch, now as a coffee professional, he has achieved industry top level knowledge, skills and credentials.
During his journey as an entrepreneur, apart from his role as the Managing director, he has always been personally involved in the forefront of the business serving and interacting with the customers.
