You do NOT have to be a student to attend Startup Weekend and, in fact, we are encouraging young professionals to take upon this great event and create the next batch of innovative businesses that address global needs in a multicultural environment.

Dario is a seasoned Internet and e-Commerce top executive with international experience opening and operating different companies in Mexico. Dario is the Head of eCommerce at the new online insurance company of BBVA Bancomer. Previously, he was the Head of the eCommerce division at El Palacio de Hierro, the biggest aspirational and luxury department store in Latin America. His role was to lead and develop the new eCommerce strategy of the company from zero.
Also, he is the only Latin American member of the eBay Enterprise Client Advisory Board. Before El Palacio, he created skinizate.com, a joint-venture developed with 3M focused in personalization, decompras.com that was the biggest B2C online store in Mexico, outletcorporativo.com with American Express focused on selling office products to SMBs companies and cosmetix.com.mx the first cosmetics and fragrances online store in Mexico. To finish, he was working on Business Intelligence Consulting, developing projects in Latin America, Asia and Europe.

Maria Cristina Capelo
Public Policy & Government Relations

Venezuelan by birth, citizen of the world by history. Having lived in six different countries, Maria Cristina decided to settle in Mexico for eight years. Passionate about technology and its potential social impact, Maria Cristina Mexico joined Google in January 2012 as a specialist on the team of Public Policy and Government Relations, working on issues of freedom of expression, digital rights, innovation, and entrepreneurship in Internet.   In her career, MC has coordinated and participated in research projects on foreign trade, productivity, small and medium enterprises, evaluation of government projects as well as assessing the impact of foreign investment in Latin America with the Commission of the United Nations for Trade and Development (UNCCD) in Geneva, Switzerland. She graduated from a Master of Public Policy at Duke University, and a Degree in Political Science and International Relations at the University of Washington in St. Louis, Missouri.


Carlos Toxtli
Co Founder - Pronovatek


Developer with 15 years of experience, with a Master in Business Innovation and Technology. Carlos has launched two companies, one factory and two startups. He has worked at the United Nations and Google among others. Expert in different fields such as software, hardware, networks, databases, artificial intelligence, robotics, among others. He has won awards at national and international software level of Intel, Cisco, Facebook and Google among others. Co-Founder of Pronovatek, a startup focused on products of IoT. Recently winner of the Internet of Everything by Cisco.


Fabian Aguilar
Mentor, Archetype Incubation Program


Majored in International Business Administration with a certificate in entrepreneurial studies from Anahuac University, Fabian joined Angel Ventures team in 2012 as a senior analyst for AV Co-investment Fund I, partially developing the operations’ strategy of the Fund, and co-designed Angel Ventures’ Investment Analysis Methodology. He’s also part of the team responsible for the development of additional funds in Latin America for the Company. Fabian has acted as an advisor for several startups in Mexico and the United States in the Virtual Reality, Media / Entertainment and Technology industries and has helped raise more than USD 2 million from investors in US, Australia and LATAM. In 2015, he became a Mentor of the AV Archetype Incubation Program and was an instructor in the program titled "Creation and Operation of Private Equity Funds" organized by the AMEXCAP and Universidad Anahuac del Sur, focused on the development of skills to formalize and operate a Private Equity Fund.


Alysson Franklin Martins Moreira
UX Lead at IBM

Alysson is a professional specialized in Interaction Design, Usability, Information Architecture and Accessibility, oriented to business results with experience supporting the executive levels of an organization. In IBM Studio Mexico he is acting as a UX Team Lead for Finance and sportainment projects. Some of his customers are Banorte, Bancomer, GNP and Zurich.Within IBM, he has been engaged in assignments for different customers and different roles for more than 10 years. On these assignments he worked as an UX Researcher & specialist, web developer, Global Team Leader, UX Subject Matter Expert and Front-End Engineer.On the banking industry in Brazil, he supported customers on UX and Front End matters like Anbima and Sicredi. On the Air cargo Industry, he supported TAM Cargo in the same areas of expertise, being responsible for the whole Usability Assessment and Interface creation.He also worked for Netshoes, the largest e-commerce for sporting goods in the world, being responsible for developing UX strategies for the Elastic Path platform, supporting businesses operations for Mexico and Argentina, also acting as Usability specialist on the Brazilian Branch. He has been engaged in projects for customers such as NBA, UFC, Federacion Mexicana de Futbol, Confederação Brasileira de Futebol and NFL.Outside IBM, he is also an active member of the UX community, sharing knowledge about Web Development & Interaction Design in talks & web blogs. He also works with the W3C Brazil Chapter being one of the founding members of the Accessibility Working Group in Brazil.

Angela Ursic Bedoya
International Development

After obtaining her MSc in Management & Finance at HEC Paris, Angela came back to the Americas to work for Miami based VC, investing in key growth industries in Latin America (clean energies, financial inclusion, education). Very quickly, she went from a financial analyst position to become an entrepreneur, taking the lead at one of the VC's portfolio companies. Convinced by the importance and the potential of social innovators, Angela decided to leave traditional entrepreneurship to join MakeSense to help social entrepreneurs accelerate their projects. She is now in charge of the development of the organisation's professional activities in Latin America.


María Fernanda Gándara
Mexico City Curator, Global Shapers Community

Maria Fernanda Gandara Gil is a young Mexican passionate about technology, entrepreneurship and social impact. Besides her BA in Architecture she has studied Leadership for Social and Sustainable Development and Entrepreneurship at one of the most innovative schools in Silicon Valley. Formerly in CSR, Impact Investing and Venture Capital for tech startups she is now working to support Mexico's Open Data and Open Government Initiatives. She is the Curator of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Community in Mexico City, City Chair for Global Dignity and Advisor for UN Women.


Greg Altman
Impact Investing Consultant - Agora Partnerships

Gregory has been working for or helping small businesses develop for much of his career. Since helping to manage a natural foods producer in New Mexico, he has been hooked on the inherent challenges of making a small business click and hum. Currently he is working in Mexico for Agora Partnerships, providing consulting services to social entrepreneurs in Agora’s accelerator program and setting them up for investments. With a college degree in Environmental Science & Policy from Duke University’s leading program, and a Masters in Finance/Entrepreneurial Studies from NYU Stern, Gregory has focused on sectors such as renewable energy, CleanTech, agriculture, water & other natural resources, and transportation. A venture he started in renewably powered transport patiently waits on the back burner to be re-kindled.
Though he is a New York City native, Gregory is an adventurer at heart. He has hiked sections of the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails, and made long distance cycling journeys through Patagonia and Africa.  He has been a long time member of an organic community farm organization and is an avid chef, known to have rescued many a homemade meal with his ability to work with any available ingredients.


Eric Northam
CEO of EasyBroker

Eric is the founder and CEO of EasyBroker, a cloud based CRM for real estate professionals. He has extensive experience working with startups, one that failed, two that were acquired, one that is currently profitable. He has learned first hand the challenges of doing business in Argentina and Mexico after bootstrapping and building teams from scratch in both countries.

Founder

The ebullient Suzy Bureau (as she was referred to in TechCrunch) hails from Columbus, Ohio USA and is dedicated to building communities – locally & globally: from facilitating Startup Weekends in Mexico, Ireland and across the US, representing the US alongside delegates from 100+ other countries at Global Startup Youth in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to facilitating the invite-only Startup Extreme conference in Norway. 

She honed her technology & startup chops as the first product employee at CoverMyMeds, an HIT startup that grew to be Ohio’s first unicorn acquisition. 

Now, Suzy is focused full-time on bridging the gap between technology, social impact and sustainable entrepreneurship through the organization she founded, GiveBackHack. GiveBackHack starts with a weekend event pulling top hackathon participants together and continues throughout the year in communities to create lasting social enterprise.

Recently, Suzy was named the first “Create Columbus Visionary” by Columbus City Council and the Create Columbus Commission.
