Learn to build a startup by begin an entrepreneur and launch your idea into reality in 54 hours!

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1800 past events in 120 countries around the world in 2014.The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. If you want to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur, register now for the best weekend of your life!

Jonas Bjørheim
Board Member || Investor || Entrepreneur

I was the President of Start UiS, a student organisation whoose aim is to engage students to be entrepreneurs and innovators. My focus with the organisation was bridging the gap between the students and the general startup scene in Stavanger.

While doing this I ran my own small business, where I tutored, delivered electrical schematics, and hosted team-building events (Still dabble with the last one, in cooperation with Høydepunkt).
Worked a few years as an Electrician, and a few years with accounting before that.

I've recently started angel investing, focusing on early early stage startups. Participated in Angel Challenge, and are looking to make one or two investments a year.

Taking the backseat is my education as an electrical engineer at UiS, with all my electives going to leadership, entrepreneurship and management.

Nikola Pattay
Board Member

I am passionate about entrepreneurship in the Rogaland region and support various initiatives through direct investments, board seats, and informally.
Through my prior experience as an investment banker in London and niche headhunter in Munich, focusing on Private Equity firms, I gained knowledge about how various investor groups (ranging from Angels, Venture Capitalists, Private to Family Equity funds) source deal-flow, make investment decisions and manage their portfolios.
I hold a Master in Business Administration from the pan-European Business School ESCP Europe and speak German, French and English. I lived and worked in London, Frankfurt and Munich, New York and Cairo and moved from Siberia to Stavanger 2 years ago.
I'm of an opinion that successful startups need the foresight to onboard the right investors; the investor confidence is not built over a single pitch, but rather via a continuous interaction - a process that may take a lot of time.
