Global Online Startup WeekendUnite to Fight COVID-19
An online competition creating and developing solutions to address and manage the global pandemic case COVID-19 at a country level. 
Over 196 countries have been affected by this pandemic and are all facing the same difficulties and are facing the same challenges regarding COVID-19. 
Techstars StartupWeekend organized by AL JABR in partnership with Al Rud’ha is looking to work with mentors, leaders, executives, and investors to tackle and come up with a revolutionary solution to face this global challenge. 
A 54 hour online startup weekend to come up with different innovative ideas and solutions to solving this pandemic. 
The online startup weekend will be on the 24th - 25th of April 2020.
Who can apply? Anyone who has creative ideas on solving some of the main issues related to the pandemic such as : 
  • Health sector  
  • Vulnerable or at-risk individuals
  • Businesses enablement 
  • Community
  • Education
  • Entertainment: Alternatives to traditional forms of entertainment. that can keep the talent and audiences safe and healthy.

Techstars ستارت اب ويكند للشركات الناشئة (النسخة الافتراضية) هي مسابقة عالمية لخلق وتطوير حلول لتشخيص وباء (كوفيد-19) على مستوى الدولة من تنظيم شركة الجبر بالشراكة مع الردهة،
سيتم صنع حلول مبتكرة للتصدي على هذا الوباء على مدار يومين لمدة 54 ساعة على شبكة الإنترنت. 
 نحن متطلعين للعمل مع مرشدين، قادة، رؤساء تنفيذيون و مستثمرين للخروج بأفكار للتصدي على هذا التحدي العالمي !

Emmee Haun
SAS

Emmee Haun is a trade and investment consultant focused on facilitating business strategies for tech start-ups in Oman. Mrs. Haun has lived in Oman since 2004 and in the Middle East region since 2001 where she has successfully developed numerous companies and investment programs for both the private and public sectors of Oman. Mrs. Haun currently works with the Ministry of Technology and Communications as an Industry Development and Business Development Advisor under the Digital Society Development Division where she advises over 70+ tech startups in all areas of business including idea generation, business model design, access to market, growth strategies and business generation. Emmee has been a mentor and judge for program in Oman including the EBDA, Injaz, HCT programs and internationally for Idea Space out of the Philippines. Prior to working for the Oman Government, Mrs. Haun was General Manager of Neem Projects and Services, an Omani investment and holding company for five years, and with the US Department of Labor as a MBA Fellow (career appointed) where she worked in Morocco, Bahrain, and Oman on the labor chapter of Free Trade Agreements between the US and the respective countries. Mrs. Haun has a MBA in Commercial Diplomacy and Arabic language from the Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California and a BA in Marketing/Spanish from the University of Indianapolis. Mrs. Haun was a former United States Fulbright Scholar to Oman where she researched the workforce gap between Oman’s education system and the human resource needs of the private sector. Mrs. Haun is the co-founder and board member of the Oman American Business Council, previous board member of the Oman Society for Petroleum Services, previous President of the American Women’s Group in Oman.

Director of Startups Innovation at Industrial Innovation Center. I previuosly worked as Program Manager running the first Accelerator Program in Oman in otf Wadi Accelerator, and helping in the investments decisions. Before 2017, I was a senior lecturer in a college teaching Entreprenurship and marketing. I am also a co-founder of Bastah Majan Cafe.

Eric Brotto is currently Executive Director at SparkLabs Energy in Muscat Oman. He was the International Alumni & Partner Specialist for Startupbootcamp Global where he supported 240 startups in fundraising, connecting them with 20+ of the UK’s top investors. He also managed corporate partnerships with Samsung, Amazon, DT, PayPal, and Google. Eric is a Global Facilitator for Startup Weekend where he has organized and/or facilitated events in London, France, Luxembourg, Ukraine, Norway and Malaysia. 


Hamood Al Hamdan

With 15 years’ work experience in the government sector, Hamood upholds expertise in the areas of Entrepreneurship and Startups, Capacity and Talent Development, Innovation and Technology. He started his career as a software developer with Royal Oman Police working in the National Registration System for three years. After joining Information Technology Authority he started as a project manager of the government software licensing agreements then moved on to a capacity building program focused on ICT job seekers and professionals. Hamood also played a key role in the establishment and execution of a Technology innovation project called later as Innovation Factory Center. Currently as Director of Sas for Entrepreneurship Center, which is a tech incubation center that has incubated 61 Tech startups that have obtained contracts valued in excess of 5.8 million Omani Rials and created over 350 job opportunities.

 Nadeem Ahmed is an IIM-A Alumnus with more than 26 years of cross functional Industry exposure and ILM approved facilitator in the domains of Leadership, Problem Solving, Performance Management, Innovating Thinking and Emotional Intelligence, Coaching and Mentoring. He has extensively coached and mentored professionals in various verticals working in Public and Private Sector organizations. He has conducted more than 500 workshops in the GCC. Represented Oman twice in the OCCI International Business Forum. Nadeem is the head of Eshraqa Entrepreneurship Academy and has mentored more than 10 SMEs since its inception in 2017.  


Nermeen Marzouk

Nermeen Marzouk is a Finance and Investment Consultant with 12 years of experience acquired at leading global financial institutions and is currently a Business Development Consultant at the Public Authority for SME Development (Riyada) in the Sultanate of Oman. Prior to joining Riyada, Nermeen was an Associate Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, in its Cairo office where she covered investment opportunities in the Middle East & North Africa region. Before joining IFC, Nermeen worked at Commercial International Bank (CIB), Egypt's largest private sector bank, in its Strategic Planning Department as well as Vantage Capital, a South Africa-based private equity and mezzanine fund, in its Cairo office. 
Nermeen has a BSc of Business Administration from the American University in Cairo (AUC) with a concentration in finance and an MSc in Finance & Management from Cranfield University in the UK.

Wiam Al Shuaili has eight years working experience in the entrepreneurship field. Wiam was part of the team that set the Sas for Entrepreneurship Center and now leads the enrollment and evaluation of startups coming in. In addition, leading several startup events including Sas48 Hackathon and e.Gaming Bootcamps. Besides her current role, Wiam has participated in mentoring and evaluating startup projects in different programs such as The National Youth Program, Upgrade and Smart City Hackathon. Also, conducting sessions in Business Model Canvas and Lean Canvas for idea stage startups.
