  • Friday night: 60-second pitches that result in the formation of small teams around the best, most viable business concepts.  We hope you’ll pitch, but definitely not required!
  • Saturday and Sunday: Work days! Teams focus on user research, customer development, validating their ideas and building prototypes with the help of experienced coaches from the entrepreneurial world.  You’re welcome to stay and work as long as you like!
  • Sunday afternoon: Teams demo their products and receive valuable feedback from a panel of expert judges.

Usama Tauqeer

This young man has earned many feathers on his hat in a very young age. 23; a recently graduated software engineer from the prestigious NUST, Isl -Pakistan, a serial entrepreneur, a humble philanthropist and a cutting edge designer; he has turned heads on an international spectrum. Currently, he is the acting CEO and founder of AClan aka AlooClan (a 3 years old services oriented startup based entirely on a student empowering model which ranked among the top startups of Pakistan this year), operates a philanthropy venture, YourHundred, mentors the entrepreneurs-to-be at various conferences and is the core team member of Pakistan’s largest Tech Incubator, Plan9. He was nominated as the “Top 25 under 25 of Pakistan for the year 2014” by an independent research conducted by a very prominent news entity, TechJuice. He has also served at the position of Vice President, External relations and Strategies in a British Startup, WA; and won the Best Innovation Award by National Academy of Young scientists, 3 years back. He was invited as an emerging youth tech leader, in Youth Technology Camp 2015, cohosted by, Pak US Alumni Network, US Embassy, and Global entrepreneurs Network (GEN). He was also invited as the speaker of Kinnaird Business week’15, by Kinnaird Entrepreneurial Club & as a mentor cum trainer for Herself, A women empowering initiative Punjab information Technology board. Last year he was invited by the Government of Kerala, India in order to represent AlooClan and Pakistan because of his cross border initiatives. He represented Pakistani Young Leaders in South Asian Youth conference SAYC’15 last year, which was held in Sri Lanka & was a part of Pakistani delegation to Startup Istanbul’16, held in Turkey. Recently, he also got appointed as the CCO of Asia Pacific Youth Organization & selected as the Community lead for Facebook Dev Circles: Pakistan

He established himself as a key player in the IT export space in the mid-90’s, and now he aims to reshape the stage for Pakistani tech startups with a preference for innovative ideas advocating social change. His genius has evolved from decades of innovative business practices and management, and with his new venture you can borrow what he is, what he’s learned and what makes him the powerhouse that he is. As the Founder and CEO of CresSoft - the first software export company in the country – Humayun spearheaded the company to put Pakistan on the global IT outsourcing map, and in doing so, was able to make the fresh IT graduate the most eligible bachelor in the country at the time. He currently holds principal positions on the board of various Crescent Group companies and is the President of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Lahore Chapter. Because of his achievements in the softwareIndustry, he received the NCR IT Excellence Award in 2000.
Humayun is a headstrong individual with a can-do attitude. He is an active part of his community, supporting social causes like The Citizen’s Foundation, LRBT, CARE and Crescent Educational Trust to name a few. In the past he has held vital positions at the likes of Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA) and the managing committee of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce (FPCCI), and his service to the community has led to him receiving the Corporate Philanthropy Award by the Pakistan Center for Philanthropy (PCP) in 2009. As an avid follower of the Steve Jobs philosophy, Humayun “Stays hungry”, “stays foolish ” and follows his heart. He is an optimistic yet realistic man, influenced by art, coffee and music. But before any of his passions, he values a business that can grow, teach, learn and inspire.

Badar Khushnood is a Cofounder and Partner at Bramerz which is the largest 360 degree digital media and marketing agency in the country. Before Bramerz, Badar was Google's Country Consultant for Pakistan for 8 years until December of 2014. He acted as a one-man-on-the-ground-army for Google liaising closely between numerous Google teams and all-things Pakistan from Government Relations to product launches to facilitation of technology. As a strong believer in leveraging technology to solve some of the most complex problems in today's world, Badar brings along more than 17 years of highly rich and diverse experience working with leading brand names in respective categories including ASUSTeK Computers, SMEDA and Nishat Textiles.

Tosheeba Sarwar

An experienced entrepreneur, business executive and advisor to a number of emerging and established businesses, Tosheeba Sarwar has over 15 years of experience. She uniquely specialized in guiding small and medium sized business owners towards attaining a level at which they work on their business through development and implementation of key points in business planning and planning for growth and expansion, both domestically and internationally.  Ms Tosheeba worked closely with companies and business owners providing business valuation services and advice on developing and implementing strategies to maximize business value.  She founded the image management outfit – I managers;  and worked with lead brands with a focus on Business Modeling, Strategic Planning, Image Management, Brand Management, Marketing & Promotions, Systems Development, Coaching & Training. She has been associated with about 27 start-ups in different sectors including hospitality, apparel, services, furniture, retail, fashion, surgical instruments, and academics. In addition to the commercial ventures, Ms Tosheeba has actively worked with NPOs such as the CARE Foundation, International Iqbal Society, Kaarvan Foundation & PSTA (teacher training organization).

Murad Akhter

As Co-Founder and CEO of Tintash, Murad leads a talented and passionate team of Mobile Game and App Developers, Designers, Producers and Artists. Over the past 6 years he has been responsible for grooming and hiring top talent, and driving product development of top-tiered mobile games such as Woody Woodpecker and StickCricket as well as for striking distribution and development deals with renowned game studios and brands such as Digital Chocolate, Playfirst, Universal Studios and BBC Worldwide.

Murad has over 10 years of experience in product management and software development in the high-tech industry. Prior to Tintash, he worked in Silicon Valley at Apple Computer on flagship products such as the company’s first line of 64-bit systems as well as its transition from PowerPC chips to Intel’s multi-core processors. He later worked on jukebox and VOIP applications for the Ultra-Mobile PC platform at Microsoft before starting Tintash in 2007. Murad graduated from Stanford University with an MS and BS in Computer Science.

Jehan Ara

Jehan Ara is the President of the Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT & ITES (P@SHA). She has been spearheading efforts at P@SHA for the past 14 years during which time she was responsible for developing the P@SHA brand and for creating linkages between P@SHA and local and international partners.   Jehan has over 30 years experience in Marketing, Communications and interactive New media in Hong Kong, the Far East, the UAE and Pakistan. She is a motivator, an entrepreneur, a social activist and a strong propagator of extending the power and use of Information and Communication Technologies beyond pure traditional business, to empower and enable communities. She is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences and at colleges and universities across Pakistan and internationally. She also writes for various industry publications.  During her 14 years at P@SHA, Jehan has initiated and worked on many initiatives in the startup and entrepreneurial space. Her latest initiative is the setting up of a technology incubator in Karachi, a city of 25 million – The Nest i/o - in  collaboration of  Google for Entrepreneurs and Samsung and support from the US Department of State.
Advocacy through the use of cutting edge technology is one of Jehan Ara’s passions.Multi-stakeholder backed Cyber Crime, Privacy and Data Protection legislation and Internet Freedom  are some of the things she is advocating for.

A performance Internet Based Marketer and Entrepreneur, Mr Zafar Khan has bootstrapped his company to a multi-ten-million per year in sales per year. His main focus has been on making his organization tackle more verticals and on maintaining the growth rate.

Mr Zafar has specialized in internet marketing and evaluating business plans. Such expertise, he believes, are required in scaling up an organization and creating new processes that are necessary for a business to run successfully.

Zia Imran

Zia Imran is  the CEO and founder of VahZay (Pvt) Limited, a software and IT products and services company based in Lahore.He is an MBA, Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business, Chicago, Illinois, USA and Masters in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, New YorkHe also served as the Chairman of P@SHA, the industry trade body for IT industry, in 2009. Imran has taught a very popular course in Entrepreneurship at FAST, Lahore campus. Zia also consults with startups on business strategy, marketing and operations and has advised US companies set up joint ventures and globally outsourced operations.Zia has more than 16 years of experience working in Silicon Valley and globally at leading companies like Oracle, Altera and numerous startups both in Silicon Valley, USA and in Pakistan.Zia is a serial entrepreneur who previously started a software development tools company in Silicon Valley arguably pushing the state of the art in this area to the next level.

Coaches and Mentors

Abid Malik

Abid Malik has over 24 years of sales, marketing, finance, and business development experience. Most recently he co-founded Indus Venture, that mentors and helps innovative start-ups funded in early and revenue stages.
At the age of 21, he was running a small paint manufacturing facility and discovered poster color formula that rivaled German’s Pelican brand. Having a passion for entrepreneurship and technology, he started his first venture in California and successfully ran and managed three additional start-ups since 1990. In 2011, he co-founded Visiting Providers, a medical practice in Missouri for homebound patients.

Mr Abid is a member of the International board of Minaret Business Organization (MBO) that has chapters in USA and Asia. He is an independent trustee (emeritus) at a socially responsible Amana Mutual Funds (AMANX, AMAGX, AMDX) that manages over 3.5 billion in assets. Mr Abid also serves as a member of the board for Strategic Research Circle, a non-profit that does research in the area of private enterprise and social responsibility.

Babar Khan Javed

Dr Amena Hasan

Dr. Amena Hasan is the Chief Executive Officer of Business for Social Progress (BSP) where she has undertaken multiple constancy assignments with Focus Humanitarian Assistance, Save the Children UK, ESRA Plus (Education Development Center In.), Micronutrient Initiative, LEAD Pakistan, Farm Forestry Support Project (Inter-cooperation), OMV Pvt. Ltd. (Oil and Gas company), Interloop Pvt. Ltd. (Textile industry) and PPEPCA (Pakistan Petroleum Exploration and Production Companies Association). The assignments involved project/program Monitoring and Evaluation, participatory research (qualitative and quantitative), capacity development of health and education department officials, community and local NGO trainings, project development and implementation of community-based projects on education, health, livelihoods, skill enhancement, and natural resource management. Nahil Mahmood

With over 18 years' experience in telecom, broadband, banking, Information Security, and ICT, Nahil Mahmood has represented six of the world's leading Information Security & Network Security solutions. He is an established and credible Information Security Leader, holding a number of leadership positions for global associations and known for conducting world-class IT training and events internationally. Mr Nahil has been awarded the Information Security Leadership Achievement (ISLA) Award by (ISC)2 Tokyo, Japan. Additionally, he works as the CEO and Founder of Delta Tech, an IT firm specializing in Information Security solutions, a globally Certified Trainer For Franklin Covey International.

Omar Farooq

Founder at Appsters. A telecommunications engineer by degree from FAST, Lahore. With a combined experience of over 4 years in the industry in primarily marketing agencies and a design house. Omar walked away from the safety of a job in Jan, 2012 – for the first time. Fast-forward 3 years and 3 failed startups later - the 4th one was successful in the form of Appsters. 

We are a web design and development studio. At Appsters, we take client servicing to be an opportunity to learn about different businesses and models. Having said that I love to create new things. A couple of products are in the oven and set to be launched by late-2015.

Bilal Nazeer

Bilal Nazeer is currently working as an IT Project Manager at Digital Links Group. With over 7 years of experience in the IT industry, Bilal has organized and founded several national level competitions such as: Pakistan Maths Challenge; CASIO Math Competition 2016; World Education Games Ceremonies, Pakistan. He has certifications from Google and HP EdCast and is also an advisor for different apps and websites regarding marketing strategy.

Sajjad Kirmani

Sajjad Kirmani is the founder and CEO of INFOGISTIC rated as the Best Startup by P@sha in 2012. He is leading the efforts to further increase the organizations investment, business activity & strategic partnerships across globe. He provides guidance and mentors the technical, sales and operations team to meet their day to day challenges. 
He has over 28 years of experience in Information Technology and has served in leadership positions in multinational organizations across Middle East and Pakistan. Prior to establishing INFOGISTIC in 2012, he served 14 years as Director & Executive Vice President at NetSol Technologies where he played a vital role in its global expansion as well as becoming the first company to have CMMI ML 5, ISO 27001 and ISO 20000. 
Sajjad is passionately pursuing his vision to make INFOGISTIC as a center of excellence in Cyber Security and e-Health Technology. 
His contributions towards Information Technology in Pakistan earned him the title of “CIO of Year” in 2010 by Teradata. He is also the CEO and Executive Board Member of DicoTech INFOGISTIC Qatar.
Sajjad holds a Master´s degree in Computer Sciences from University of London along with MBA degree from IBA. He has a passion for gardening and maintains one of the best spring gardens in Lahore.

Usman Ali

Technology and organizational leader with a strong engineering background. Over 9 years experience of team management, engineering, product development, product design, product management, quality assurance, recruiting, hiring, and customer relationships. Mentoring and inspiring diverse teams to deliver high traffic and scalable product. Ambitious to solve business problems while building a vibrant company and team culture. 

Currently, he is Head of Engineering at - Pakistan's #1 automobile portal with monthly 7 million visits and more than 80 million views.

A developer, designer, consultant and entrepreneur, Mr Abdullah has worked for various tech-based companies around the world. Saad Zaeem

Saad is the Co-Founder & CEO of Caramel Tech Studios (Pvt.) Limited, a leading mobile game development studio. He is great at extracting high quality work from the team while keeping them super motivated. Saad has been in the games space for over 5-years and has been part of the production team behind Fruit Ninja, Jetpack Joyride, Stick Cricket, Order of Elements, Brain Puzzle & Friends and the upcoming mid-core strategy game, Blades of Battle, amongst others on all major mobile platforms. He oversees production, strategy and growth at the company. Saad has a BSc. (Honors) in Social Sciences from LUMS.

I have spent my career organization operations and supply chains and reviving low profit units by searching for these missed opportunities.

Shayan Zaeem

Shayan is the Director and Producer of Caramel Tech Studios. A top tier gaming studio in Asia which has collaborated with industry giants such as EA, Half Brick, Kabaam, Animoca, Scopely, Stick Sports, Big Fish to name a few.
He recently Co-founded ‘Fizz’; a RT social platform for gamers. There is a huge gap between the gaming communities (1.2B+) across the world that needs to be bridged. Fizz provides a RT- chat platform with auto translations creating a one-world environment so gamers from around the globe can come to one place and connect. Shayan loves product, and invests his time deeply into the daily product life cycle at the company.
He is currently helping review the Punjab IT Policy 2016 a project by the Pakistan Information Technology Board (PITB) an initiative by the Punjab Government; which will in return help boost the economy in sectors such as education, health, environment and rural development.
Apart from all the seriousness he loves his organic food, traveling, horses and petting animals.

I am the co-founder of MARHAM and I take care of user-experience in product and real life. I am a CS graduate but I chose to be a designer because providing the solution to a complex problem in the simplest beautiful way is very important to do great things. Prior to Marham, I worked as UX Designer at Confiz and worked on wonderful projects.
My specialties are user-experience design, idea execution & its challenges and how to connect with your users.

Zartash Uzmi

Zartash is on the faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at LUMS since 2002. He is also a cofounder at Confiz Limited which runs Pakwheels, the largest Pakistani portal for car enthusiasts, buyers, and sellers. Zartash received his Ph.D. from Stanford University. At LUMS, his research is focused on scalable design for networking systems. He has also mentored several student startups and is part of the core team that is setting up the LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship.
