Here’s your opportunity to transform your education ideas into action in 54 hours. Find the right people with complementary skills & the passion to build an education product in one weekend. Design for learning, conduct user tests, receive coaching from experienced education designers & industry professionals.
  • Friday night: 60-second pitches that result in the formation of small teams around the best, most viable education concepts.  We hope you’ll pitch, but definitely not required!
  • Saturday and Sunday: Work days! Teams focus on user research, customer development, validating their ideas and building prototypes with the help of experienced coaches from the education and entrepreneurial world.  You’re welcome to stay and work as long as the venue will allow!
  • Sunday afternoon: Teams demo their education products and receive valuable feedback from a panel of expert judges.

Shahida Saleem

A serial social entrepreneur, Ms Shahida has worked at PMI International Development COP, Federation & CIPE Pakistan. Currently, she is involved with Pakistan Education Innovation Fund (ILM IDEAS 2), Sehat First Pvt. Ltd, and Dotz Technologies. Shahida believes in utilizing profitable business models to impact social change, education, health and economic empowerment. Being someone who possesses diverse interests, she has specialized in ICT for development and has worked as a Government Liaison for Program Development, Advocacy, and Policy.

Faisal Bari

Dr. Faisal Bari is the Director and Senior Research Fellow at IDEAS. He served as the Deputy Country Director for Pakistan with the Central Eurasia Project, and education economist for South Asia at the Open Society Foundation. He is also an Associate Professor of Economics at LUMS and served as head of department from 2006-2008. Dr. Bari has over twelve years of research experience in the field of industrial economics, development economics and education economics. He is a former executive director and currently, a visiting research fellow at Mahbubul Haq Human Development Centre. Dr. Bari has consulted for various multi-lateral and bi-lateral agencies including the World Bank, UNDP, DFID and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He was also a columnist for the English daily, ‘The Nation’ and he currently writes for ‘DAWN’.


Gauher Aftab
Director Business Development

Gauher Aftab is Director Business Development at HY Enterprises and the author of a critically acclaimed series, Paasban the Guardian. He is also serving as Lead Consultant for research and development sector projects at Gauher & Adeel Associates and is Program Director for the company's educational services projects under the banner of the Lahore Students Union (LSU). 
Gauher has worked both in
Pakistan and abroad as a business development professional and strategy
consultant in diverse sectors such as financial services, advertising, telecommunications
and education. He has served as Project Lead on several communications and
research projects in Pakistan for development sector organizations such as USAID,
the British High Commission (BHC), the British Council, the Chevening
Foundation, GIZ, UNAID and UNESCO.



Imran Sarwar

Imran Sarwar is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Rabbt, an education venture that aims to promote critical thinking, tolerance, and creativity among high-school students through educational camps and workshops.
At the International Labour Organization (ILO), he has conducted research on the productivity and efficiency differential for factories providing healthcare services to employees through private or public providers, in the apparel industry in Jakarta, Indonesia. He worked closely with the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration and Jamsostek, the state health care provider. Mr. Sarwar has also worked as a Project Manager at Akhuwat Foundation.



Zafar Khan

A performance Internet Based Marketer and Entrepreneur, Mr Zafar Khan has bootstrapped his company to a multi-ten-million per year in sales per year. His main focus has been on making his organization tackle more verticals and on maintaining the growth rate.

Mr Zafar has specialized in internet marketing and evaluating business plans. Such expertise, he believes, are required in scaling up an organization and creating new processes that are necessary for a business to run successfully.

Coaches and Mentors


Abid Malik

Abid Malik has over 24 years of sales, marketing, finance, and business development experience. Most recently he co-founded Indus Venture, that mentors and helps innovative start-ups funded in early and revenue stages.
At the age of 21, he was running a small paint manufacturing facility and discovered poster color formula that rivaled German’s Pelican brand. Having a passion for entrepreneurship and technology, he started his first venture in California and successfully ran and managed three additional start-ups since 1990. In 2011, he co-founded Visiting Providers, a medical practice in Missouri for homebound patients.

Mr Abid is a member of the International board of Minaret Business Organization (MBO) that has chapters in USA and Asia. He is an independent trustee (emeritus) at a socially responsible Amana Mutual Funds (AMANX, AMAGX, AMDX) that manages over 3.5 billion in assets. Mr Abid also serves as a member of the board for Strategic Research Circle, a non-profit that does research in the area of private enterprise and social responsibility.


Abbas Yousafzai

Abbas Yousafzai is currently working as the Co-Founder and CTO of Yota Scale, an enterprise-grade systems management platform for cloud computing. It enables cloud ops managers to effectively and, in real time, balance performance, availability and security needs with cost considerations. Before this, he was the chairman and founder of Conrad Labs, a high tech company working with a number of cutting edge startups in and around cloud space. A Computer Scientist by profession, Mr Yousafzai has worked for several tech-based companies, mainly in the US.


Abdullah Ahmed

Abdullah Ahmed is the co-founder of Alpha Squared Labs, a Web and Mobile solutions company. A developer, designer, consultant and entrepreneur, Mr Abdullah has worked for various tech-based companies around the world. For instance: DealerManage Inc; Matrikon / Honeywell Process Solutions; Sparkative


Adam Ghaznavi

Co-founder of WebWorks.pk, Adam Ghaznavi first worked as a General Manager at Careem. Before that, he was a venture leader at Easy Taxi, Pakistan. and a product manager at Kaymu.pk. A Babson College MBA Graduate, he was a board member of the Community Dispute Settlement Center (CDSC)


Arif Zaman

Dr Arif Zaman is a Pakistani mathematician, an academic scientist and a professor of Statistics and Mathematics at Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering, Lahore University of Management Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. He attended Harvey Mudd College where he completed his B.S. in Mathematics in 1976. He completed his M.A. Applied Mathematics in 1977, and PhD Statistics from Stanford University in 1981. Before joining LUMS in 1994, he worked in the Statistics Departments at Purdue University and Florida State University. His papers are globally renowned and have been published in various journals including: The Annals of Probability, Mathematics of Computation, Journal of Applied Probability, and Journal of Statistical Computation.


Badar Khushnood

Badar Khushnood is a Cofounder and Partner at Bramerz which is the largest 360 degree digital media and marketing agency in the country. Before Bramerz, Badar was Google's Country Consultant for Pakistan for 8 years until December of 2014. He acted as a one-man-on-the-ground-army for Google liaising closely between numerous Google teams and all-things Pakistan from Government Relations to product launches to facilitation of technology. As a strong believer in leveraging technology to solve some of the most complex problems in today's world, Badar brings along more than 17 years of highly rich and diverse experience working with leading brand names in respective categories including ASUSTeK Computers, SMEDA and Nishat Textiles.


Bilal Nazeer

Bilal Nazeer is currently working as an IT Project Manager at Digital Links Group. With over 7 years of experience in the IT industry, Bilal has organized and founded several national level competitions such as: Pakistan Maths Challenge; CASIO Math Competition 2016; World Education Games Ceremonies, Pakistan. He has certifications from Google and HP EdCast and is also an advisor for different apps and websites regarding marketing strategy.




Iffat Ahmer

Ms. Iffat Ahmer is titled as a Home Economist, but she takes pride in being a teacher because, according to her, this a role that encompasses every aspect of life. With 22 devoted years in active classrooms, she has celebrated diversity and individuality of human beings, taught a variety of subjects at all levels of school, and worked in various capacities in school administration. Over the last 5 years she, with her small team and limited resources, she has been able to switch over more than 5000 students and 30 schools to integrate these e-Learning tools to their conventional classrooms. This is an effort for the students, especially for whom access to quality education is just a wishful thinking.


Murtaza Taj

Murtaza Taj, a PhD degree holder in electronic engineering and computer science, is the co-founder of Ingrain, a  native video monetization service claimed to be a breakthrough technology to disrupt the video ad service. Along with this, he works as an Assistant Professor at the Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan. His research interests include Machine Learning, Computer Graphics and Image and Video Processing.


Noman Aziz

Noman Aziz is an Engineer, Designer & Mentor helping young innovators & entrepreneurs to think out of the box and transform premature ideas into viable reality. A masters degree holder in innovation and entrepreneurship, Mr Noman  has spent significant time in European industries and schools. He is an expert in design thinking - which gives freedom to work out innovative business solutions as a team in any field. He has also conducted numerous workshops on design thinking and has been awarded as the best coach in Denmark by SAP. Currently, he is working with an industry to incorporate their vision of expansion by elevating skill levels of employees and improve productivity through LEAN Manufacturing and cultural change.


Nahil Mahmood

With over 18 years' experience in telecom, broadband, banking, Information Security, and ICT, Nahil Mahmood has represented six of the world's leading Information Security & Network Security solutions. He is an established and credible Information Security Leader, holding a number of leadership positions for global associations and known for conducting world-class IT training and events internationally. Mr Nahil has been awarded the Information Security Leadership Achievement (ISLA) Award by (ISC)2 Tokyo, Japan. Additionally, he works as the CEO and Founder of Delta Tech, an IT firm specializing in Information Security solutions, a globally Certified Trainer For Franklin Covey International.


Kamal Subhani

Mr. Kamal Subhani, the Co-Founder of Smarta Systems Inc and Sr Management Consultant at Cutting Edge LLC, hase over 5 years of experience in helping SME's and startups with business and financial consultation. Mr Subhani is passionate about helping businesses translate their goals into reality through appropriate strategic and financial planning.


Nadeem Zahid

Nadeem Zahid is Founder and CEO of tFinery, a US and Pakistan based consulting and innovation center, currently developing its own software products. As a silicon valley experienced expat Nadeem has over 20 years of experience in leadership, productizing, innovation and marketing of hi-tech products with companies like Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, Extreme, Alcatel and Lucent, specializing in the fields of Networking and Hardware/Software. He is also the author of a book on “Product Management”.


Sajid Abdullah

Sajid Abdullah Saeed Wattoo is a graduate of Lahore School of Economics, with Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree, specialization in Finance and Marketing. He has special training and is very passionate about entrepreneurship. He is also a founder of one of the start-ups at the LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship. He has a special interest in incubation of start-ups and has been widely consulted by many micro and small enterprises.


Tosheeba Sarwar

An experienced entrepreneur, business executive and advisor to a number of emerging and established businesses, Tosheeba Sarwar has over 15 years of experience. She uniquely specialized in guiding small and medium sized business owners towards attaining a level at which they work on their business through development and implementation of key points in business planning and planning for growth and expansion, both domestically and internationally.  Ms Tosheeba worked closely with companies and business owners providing business valuation services and advice on developing and implementing strategies to maximize business value.  She founded the image management outfit – I managers;  and worked with lead brands with a focus on Business Modeling, Strategic Planning, Image Management, Brand Management, Marketing & Promotions, Systems Development, Coaching & Training. She has been associated with about 27 start-ups in different sectors including hospitality, apparel, services, furniture, retail, fashion, surgical instruments, and academics. In addition to the commercial ventures, Ms Tosheeba has actively worked with NPOs such as the CARE Foundation, International Iqbal Society, Kaarvan Foundation & PSTA (teacher training organization).


Umair Javed

Umair Javed considers himself to be passionate about starting and running businesses that use technology to create value. Some of the "hats that he wears" include Angel Investor where as an investor he is actively looking to fund mobile first startups, in multiple verticals.  Mr Umair is also an Investor and Founder of Nutty Apps; with 50M+ installs in the first 12 months, it has fared pretty well. As founder and CEO of TKXEL, he runs this software services company through providing mobile, web and enterprise solutions engineering teams to startups and enterprises across globe. The list goes on. He has founded and is a director of Strategic Alliancez, where he provides strategic guidance to a digital media agency that he founded few years back. As an instructor and speaker, he loves to teach and talk. He speaks at various conferences and gives lectures on Computer Science and Entrepreneurship in universities.


Umair Sheikh

Umair is a serial entrepreneur with over 14 years of diverse business experience. He has established and managed several brick and mortar businesses and has also had considerable success as a real estate investor. Umair has been involved in tech startups since the beginning of 2015 and his startup has already been pegged as "one of the companies to lead the next wave of disruption in the tech space" by Sahil Aurora (Cofounder, Red Herring). Umair Sheikh's startup Arazi.pk was a nominee for Red Herring Asia Top 100 Award and was also the only Pakistani startup to exhibit at the RISE Conference '15 (Hong Kong) alongside 540 best startups from all around the globe.


Max Babri

Consulting, counseling, coaching, hypnotherapy, team-building and life skills coaching and consulting.
Sports Hypnotherapist, Worked with the Pakistan Cricket Team May 2009 and the team won the T-20 World Cup. Was part of the Pakistan Cricket Team as a Sports Psychologist 2012 -13 tour of India and the Team came back victorious.

Worked with Golfer in Pakistan and many of the went on the win National Golf Tournaments and were selected in the Pakistan National Golf Team

Zartash Uzmi

Zartash is on the faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at LUMS since 2002. He is also a cofounder at Confiz Limited which runs Pakwheels, the largest Pakistani portal for car enthusiasts, buyers, and sellers. Zartash received his Ph.D. from Stanford University. At LUMS, his research is focused on scalable design for networking systems. He has also mentored several student startups and is part of the core team that is setting up the LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship.

Salman Nasir

Salman Nasir is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree BS (Accounting and finance) from Qarshi University. He is the Founder of Qarshi University Student Welfare Society and the active member of Event Management Society. Previously Salman has worked as an internee in many organizations such as Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Center and Pak Wheels.

Apart from work, Salman likes to travel and he actively takes part in social & educational events.





Hamayl Waqar

Hamayl is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Human Resource Management from NCBA&E . She is a passionate Baker and is running an online baking shop “Sweet Indulgence”.

Moreover, she likes to travel, loves volunteer work and is an avid learner. 



Nimra Azhar

Nimra Azhar is pursuing her undergraduate degree in Econ-Math from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). She has been an integral part of quite a lot societies at LUMS varying from Science society (SPADES) to Community Services society (LCSS) and has organized/hosted multiple events. She plans on taking the Actuarial Exams in the near future.
A true Lahori who loves food and is a keen photobomb-er. Currently, she is trying to give up junk food and is shifting to a healthier lifestyle (bla bla) so you might catch up with her in the Gym. A Snapchat enthusiast and a procrastinator. In her free time (read: all the time), she binge watches TV shows. Also, she likes cycling around.


Muhammad Umer

Umer has recently completed his Bachelors in Business Administration from University of The Punjab. He has been engaged with Teach for Pakistan (TFP) as a Campus Ambassador for the noble cause initiated by the organization to help out the aspiring fellows in making the dreams of the children into reality. Umer believes in being in the driving seat and committing to whatever task he takes up and works hard to get the results. Apart from the academia, Umer is a passionate traveler, a great footballer and loves to interact with the people from diverse backgrounds.


Tauheed Tahir

Tauheed Tahir is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Business Accounting and Finance from Government College University (GCU). His interest lies in the fields of human resource management and finance. He is also the event coordinator at Mehboob Ul Haq Economics Society, GCU.  

Apart from work, Tauheed likes to sing, travel & learn about human resource management culture in Pakistan.



Shanzay Sukhera

Shanzay Sukhera is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Sociology from Punjab university. She is a passionate graphic designer and is also involved in volunteer work at "Rise for Equality". Apart from this, she loves social work and wants to help the community. She likes listening to songs and reading novels.
