Do you have an idea you'd like to pursue or a problem you'd like to solve but don't know where to start or who to start with? 

Techstars Startup Weekend is the place to look for a team, create a prototype of your idea, validate your business idea, and receive feedback from experienced entrepreneurs, all in one weekend.

What do you need to bring?

Lots of energy! You'll pitch your own idea or listen to others, then vote on the most interesting ideas and form teams with diverse skill sets. You can come with friends, but you’ll get the full experience if you participate in separate teams. Remember, it’s all about the team.

Your idea should be something you have not previously worked on. The idea you pitch and the problem you set out to solve can span social, educational, financial, environmental, or other issues. Over the course of the weekend you'll be challenged to create a prototype of your MVP, or minimum viable product, that fits the needs of your target customer. You'll get feedback, iterate, and likely pivot your approach entirely! Important: You cannot have worked previously on your idea.

Techstars Startup Weekend is a full weekend long experience. Your ticket includes:

Francis Alturas

Francis is a co-founderr of Abstract Design, an agency that designs interfaces and digital experiences for startups and businesses. He facilitates design sprints, brand startups, write front-end code, gives talks and also helps organize creative events in the local community. 

Ashley Uy
Project Manager at Symph

Ashley is a Cebu-based community builder working as a Product Owner/Account Executive at Symph, a development studio and startup foundry. Her passion is to help develop the Philippines’ startup ecosystem by working with the Philippine tech startup and design community.

Lily Chen
VP of Operations @ PicnicHealth

Lily leads PicnicHealth's operations team. She joins Picnic from Uber, where she wore many hats, including being a founding member of the Community Operations team. She's led teams that have launched new support modalities and new product lines (UberEats, uberPOOL, Uber for Business); built and scaled quality systems for Uber's global agent network (20,000+); and decreased defects that affected customer satisfaction. She loves all things operations - especially building great teams and scalable systems; and using data to drive decisions. She studied Business at the University of Michigan. Outside of work, you can find Lily practicing yoga, traveling, hiking, going to live music shows and meditating.

Business Operations and Project Manager at Symph

Nicole wokrs at Symph, a web and design development, and digital marketing company.

She oversees and manage designers and developers in the building of websites and apps.

Fiona has over 18 years experience in the Recruitment Industry. She is passionate about providing team members with an environment that is supportive and caring, encourages career growth, confidence and a love for learning.Fiona & her family relocated to Cebu, Philippines in 2015.

Elaine has been in the IT industry for 6 years. She currently handles development teams in NCR, specializing in hardware and software solutions for business transactions.

CEO / Co-Founder of Qavalo

Laurice is an experienced Chief Executive Officer with a demonstrated history of organizational leadership and market positioning across diverse industries, ranging from healthcare to luxury and entertainment.

Timmy de Jesus
Chief Operations Officer for Payruler

Timmy de Jesus is one of Cebu’s aspiring women in tech. With more than a decade of experience in the tech landscape, she has helped grow local communities, co-founded The Lemon Collective (a group of young creatives), led 1UP (a social initiative that supports regions affected by calamities such as the typhoon Yolanda), and organized SOAK (a local arts and music festiva)l.

After receiving her degree in Computer Science from the University of the Philippines Cebu, Timmy became a Systems Analyst by profession, where she led IT teams for more than 7 years. In 2014, she was the Philippines’ Country Manager for JFDI.Asia, Asia’s #1 startup accelerator. Today, she leads strategy development and direction for Payruler, an end-to-end solution for HR and payroll processes and the flagship product of Genii Hut Technologies.

Timmy’s initiatives in the Philippine and Singapore tech community encompass organizing Cebu’s Startup Weekend, a global movement to nurture startups and entrepreneurs, and providing tech mentorship for Startup2Life in Singapore, a platform that supports aspiring entrepreneurs. She devotes her spare time taking care of her dog, Margot.
