Calling all hackers, hipsters, and hustlers for a crazy 54-hour event in Cebu City -- share ideas, form teams, build your product, launch it

Startup Weekend Cebu began at the University of the Philippines Cebu (UP Cebu) in May 2012 and generated over 250 attendees comprised of technopreneurs, mentors and judges. At the end of it all, 3 startup business ideas were declared winners and go into development, testing and market validation of their business ideas. Startup Weekend Cebu then turned into an annual get together for aspiring technopreneurs to present their ideas and look for early stage seed funders for their ideas. So many bright and wonderful business ideas have come out of Startup Weekend.

This year’s Startup Weekend 5 will be this coming June 5 -7 and will be held at UP Cebu, where it all began, timed perfectly after the ICT-BPO conference that kicks of Cebu Business Month.

David Dante
Entrepreneur | Online Retail Pioneer | eBay Expert | Public Speaker | Start-up Advisor | Business Mentor

David Dante is an entrepreneur from Sydney, Australia who has over 15 years experience as an Online Retailer and is also sought after as a Speaker, Start-up Advisor and Business Mentor.

Something of a late bloomer, David created his first start-up at the age of 18 with colleague Michael Rosenbaum. Their company eBeach offered web services as well as becoming one of the first retailers on the newly launched eBay Australia marketplace.

At the ripe old age of 19, having realised the potential of E-commerce as a business model, David and Michael joined forces with consummate salesman Paul Greenberg and numbers whiz Alan Ashberg to create Auction Alliance (DealsDirect Pty Limited), a company which became one of the most successful Australian start-ups of all time and is now listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX).

After selling his shareholding to focus on the usual interests of somebody aged in their early twenties, David embarked on a career as a DJ. Somehow gaining residency in several Sydney clubs, David quickly achieved a reputation as somebody who probably should have stuck with business. In 2005, having ticked that off his bucket-list, David returned to online retail (much to the relief of the listening public).

Looking for a quick and easy launchpad and realising the future of e-tail was moving away from all-in-one stores, David again focused his attention on eBay but this time concentrated on niche products - a move that paid off almost immediately. For the second time he came to dominate eBay.com.au, becoming the number one retailer in his categories with millions in sales.

In addition to still being a Top Rated Seller on eBay and operating several standalone websites, David has sought additional challenges in life by becoming a Speaker, Start-up Advisor and Business Mentor.

David relishes the opportunity to share his unique expertise and experiences with others, and most are happy to listen - provided he doesn't ever try to DJ again.
