Robert Knapp

Passionate about privacy, freedom and security, Robert Knapp is the Co-founder and CEO of CyberGhost SRL, a Privacy as a Service company where all sorts of fancy products are created to make the internet a safer place. He started his own company when he was 18, and since then he was self-employed, covering various industries with a focus on IT and Internet products. Active in the privacy and cryptography field for more than 10 years, Robert is strongly involved in the development of new tools and breakthrough technology that enhance privacy and allow users to enjoy the Internet without the fear of being watched. In the past years, Robert was a strong member of the European tech start-up community by supporting innovation and offering mentorship for various companies. In 2015, CyberGhost VPN launched the Privacy and Security Accelerator Program to support ideas and products that address the need for privacy, security, and freedom on the internet. Robert resides in Bucharest, Romania and is a dedicated fan of F.C. St. Pauli, the 80's punk rock heroes Social Distortion or Marky Ramone and occasionally enjoys opera performances.





Peter Barta

Peter Barta is the former CEO of PPF a VC fund jointly created by the European Commission and Romanian Government. In his capacity he oversees a portfolio of companies as well as programs implemented by PPF.Highly experienced management professional holds a BA in Economics educated at INSEAD, MIT Sloan School of Management and Harvard, with over 17-years international experience, Peter has been involved in the management of numerous national and international projects. He has collaborated with various US companies such as Google, Frankfurt Business School, Development Alternative Inc., Council of Europe, or local companies. After his involvement in various international projects, he was involved in coordinating and reorganisation of SMURD one of the most important emergency services in Romania, after that he reoriented towards entrepreneurship, acting as mentor, advisor or business angel in several startups with a focus on tech or agriculture.


Alexandra Anghel

Alexandra Anghel is the Co-founder & CTO at Appticles.com, a multi-channel mobile publishing platform. She has a technical background, mostly in backend programming, and she has previously owned an outsourcing company. She's passionate about startups & entrepreneurship and likes to get involved in various activities to help women get into programming/coding. In 2012, she won the runner up award at Girls in Tech, Paris. Last year, she graduated from the Prosper Women Entrepreneurs accelerator in the US.


Coaches and Mentors


Richard Reese

Richard Reese is a highly skilled senior manager and coach with over 15 years of experience in personal, team and organizational development. Richard has a hands-on approach, assisting teams and individuals to discover their own directions and solutions. As he is a starter and an entrepreneur himself, he enjoys working with intra-/entrepreneurs on new ventures. He has a fine nose for opportunities, as well as solid financial knowledge to challenge, encourage and drive sound decisions.


Steven Sudy
NN Insurance Hungary

Steve is Entrepreneur in Residence at NN Insurance Hungary, in charge of fostering innovation within the company. He is head of Sparklab, an incubator that aims to find and mentor startups that can potentially be a partner for NN. Steve has 6 years experience with startups as a startup founder and mentor in many events including Pioneers Festival, WebSummit and The World Bank Investment Readiness Program, among others.


Maria Cristina Banu

Maria Cristina is a multi-passionate, leader, entrepreneur & Personal Branding Coach. She is the co-funder of #WEButic digital agency and celWEbrity personal brand company.
She is also leading the Educational Department of IBM Global Marketing Center in Romania
She is a sports lover, competes in triathlons & marathons for supporting social causes.
In this edition of Start Up Weekend, Maria Cristina will offer you guidance on branding, marketing and networking.


James Sanders

James is a Program Manager and Startup Coach for the F10 Fintech Accelerator and Incubator based out of Zurich Switzerland where he is responsible for the 6-month Accelerator program structure and coaching of the 15 startups. The F10 is a premier accelerator program in Switzerland with the backing of some of the largest Swiss Financial institutions.
Prior to joining the F10, James co-founded PBF Solutions, a Fintech startup that helps financial service providers to acquire, and on-board, new customers to raise savings and investment deposits. With more than £2.6 billion of new retail and business deposits and investments to date for their clients, PBF has grown to be an influential company in the European Fintech space.
James is a strong believer in the Lean Startup methodology whereby products and services are developed by validated learning in much shorter development cycles.


Dragos Georgita

Dragos is a Director of Engineering at Adobe Romania for more than 10 years, leading teams that delivered multiple products spanning from web and desktop runtimes to and open source contributions and scalable cloud-based services for publishing content-centric mobile applications. Passionate about building teams and challenging the status quo, provides leadership and directions to create value and differentiation for the future.Believes in organizational excellence to support the highest levels of up time for a continual running of a SaaS business. Leveraging the teams ability to create revolutionary innovation, Dragos likes to deliver high quality software and over-deliver on the value.


Dan Stoica

Dan Stoica is the CEO of Wolters Kluwer Romania,  one of the top global players in professional information tools, software and services for legal, tax, finance, and healthcare experts. He leads the local business unit and helps the teams of sales, software engineers and editors succeed in building new products for the legal professionals and compliance experts in Romania.  With 20 years of legal and business background, Dan has a strong expertise in bringing new ideas to the market, building teams and organizations and growing a valuable company.


Mihaela Reese

Mihaela is an expert in leadership development, personal strategy, executive coaching and team coaching with over 13 years of management experience and over 5 years as General Manager. With her academic background, positive nature and lightness of being, she easily uncovers blind spots and helps clients increase the flow in their lives, both business and personal. Keywords to describe her are connection, results, inspiration, discipline and impact. She built up successful teams and experienced the challenging path of leading people to high performance.


Adrian Burla

User Experience Solution Architect @Procter & Gamble. Passionate about IT since he was a child, Adrian worked with all kind of computers from Commodore 64 and Sinclair Spectrum to everything that is available today. He has various work experiences as an IT Specialist or a network and servers manager and he also worked in different areas like a publishing company or an international airport. For the past 15 years he has been working for P&G, where he held managerial positions in various IT areas, focusing on architecture and UX in the past 4 years.

Adrian is a veteran Startup Weekend Facilitator. He founded www.150sec.com, a news/media outlet that covers tech and startups in the CEE region that he later sold to an American media group.
Previously he also co-founded Oblico, a location based networking app for events and conferences, a project that came out of a Startup Weekend, was part of the TechPeaks accelerator and received a grant from Telecom Italia.
 Currently he's creating awesome stuff as Product Manager at Telenav INC. Adrian is a lean startup fan and experienced in pitch training and public speaking. You can reach him anytime on FB. He has one of the biggest collections of Startup Weekend T-shirts.
