Your idea in 54 hours!

Do you have an idea you'd like to pursue or a problem you'd like to solve but don't know where to start or who to start with?
 

Techstars Startup Weekend is the place to look for a team, create a prototype of your idea, validate your business idea, and receive feedback from experienced entrepreneurs, all in one weekend.  

What do you need to bring?
 

Lots of energy! You'll pitch your own idea or listen to others, then vote on the most interesting ideas and form teams with diverse skill sets. You can come with friends, but you’ll get the full experience if you participate in separate teams. Remember, it’s all about the team.  

Your idea should be something you have not previously worked on. The idea you pitch and the problem you set out to solve can span social, educational, financial, environmental, or other issues. Over the course of the weekend you'll be challenged to create a prototype of your MVP, or minimum viable product, that fits the needs of your target customer. You'll get feedback, iterate, and likely pivot your approach entirely! Important: You cannot have worked previously on your idea.  

Techstars Startup Weekend is a full weekend long experience.

Begin work
Start to formalize teams and take an inventory of skills. Be honest, and direct about what resources and skills are needed for the weekend. You may stay and work as late as the venue will allow

Mihaela Pašek-Virlan
Partner & CEO of Accace group

As a CEO of Accace Group, Mihaela is helping operations of Accace entities across multiple
jurisdictions. Always tempted by new challenges, she is also leading Accace´s global expansion,
focusing on acquiring new markets either via establishing own Accace entities or building strategic
partnerships. Mihaela believes in distributed leadership and holacratic structures; thus contributing
to build a transparent and trustful environment that helps to empower and to contribute to the
personal development of all team members. Mihaela mastered the University of Law in Bucharest,
holding a degree in European and Fiscal legislation, alongside being a certified mediator.


Coaches and Mentors


Peter Pašek
Partner & Managing Director, Accace Slovakia and InvAce

As the head of one of the biggest BPO and advisory companies in Slovakia, Peter is managing team of
more than 100 experts in accounting, payroll, tax and legal services. In additional to being
a specialist in International and Transactional Advisory, he is also a start-up enthusiast who has
considerable experience with various transaction deals, representing both ends – investors as well as
the sellers. Lately, Peter also started a new venture and founded InvAce - part of Accace Group –
whose primary goal is to facilitate capital for promising projects in CEE and business consulting for
startups.


Ján Buza
Business Development

Jan heads Business Development at CourtQuant, which is using AI to predict litigation outcomes in the UK. Prior to that, he was scaling HubHub from concept to 2 300 members in 5 countries and Exponea one of world’s fastest growing SaaS companies. He does have experience with strategy consulting and venture capital thanks to his stints at A.T. Kearney and LRJ Capital.


Kamil Aujeský
CEO samsiDigital

Kamil Aujesky is CEO at samsiDigital and co-owner of Studio TEM. He is also a Google Certified Trainer for YouTube and he won the Blogger of the Year award twice in IT, Innovation and Business. On the marketing scene, he is known for shooting vlogs and as an organizer of Digital Thursdays.


Andrej Garaj
UX Designer

Andrej works as User Experience designer & Design Sprints facilitator, at Sygic. His main focus as UX designer is problem-solving with business and user goals in mind. The design doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and the best way to create something is to do it together - from research to the final solution using specific design methodologies. He loves  sustainable design, service design and boardgames. 


Radoslav Mizera
VP & Chief Innovation Officer at Solved - The Cleantech Company Ltd.

Now I am happy for being an entrepreneur for the 5th year as Co-Founder / Chief Innovation Officer at Solved – The Cleantech Company. Before that, I worked over 8 years as a Global Industry Analyst at Finpro Vienna (Finnish Trade and Investment Promotion Organization, now Business Finland) specializing in cleantech markets. Besides consulting done for the Finnish cleantech SMEs, I was also an active member of the Cleantech Finland team from its very beginning in 2008 – bringing it to the world of social / digital media and co-creating the digital tool Solved.From the industry point of view, I actively deal with questions & topics such as green digital solutions, sustainable energy and mobility systems, smart cities, etc. Besides my home – Slovakia – I have lived in the USA, China, Austria and my “second home” – Finland. I was also an university lector, bachelor thesis supervisor and I liked it!


Milan Steskal
Product owner at mySugr

Milan is a product owner at mySugr in Vienna where he is leading the coaching solution for educating and supporting people with diabetes. Before mySugr, Milan had spent 5 years with his own startup Mentegram - he found the investors, launched the product, got the first customers. And then in 2018 he passed the company to a new CEO who is now successfully growing Mentegram in Australia. You can find Milan's experience in a book "How To Launch a Startup" on Amazon. Look for him especially if you want to understand how to make sure that your users will like your idea. Keywords "innovation = problem + solution + business model".

Petar Maslesa
Marketing assitant @ Business incubator Novi Sad

Petar is a young and ambitious post grad student at the Faculty of Technical Sciences. He is working as a marketing assistant at Business incubator Novi Sad, and has shown great marketing and organisational skills. He spends his free time playing guitar, and participating in pub quiz. He is also teaching assistant at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad.
