Ivan Debnár

Ivan Debnar was at the birth of Internet era in Slovakia some 16 years ago. He founded the first Internet Cafe in Slovakia in 1996, became known as one of founders and the first CEO of   Zoznam.sk  – a long-time leading Internet portal for Slovak users. Ivan has since helped various companies to improve their development strategies, technical competencies and their design for scale. As the Chief Technology Officer since 2008, Ivan has helped   Azet.sk   become a leading Slovak portal, news and community site. 

He is actively involved in establishing the tech-startup ecosystem in Slovakia. In 2012 he founded The Spot - the most active start-up creative space in Slovakia, providing young entrepreneurs access to knowledge, mentors, profesional services and advice to help them discover new ideas and create viable international busineses out of them. He is mentor and judge in various IT startup competitions and challenges. Recently The Spot launched startup acceleration programme The Spot Booster.




Michal Borza

Michal Borza actively works over 10 years in a financial analysis, process and project management. He changed the job positions in the world of big corporations for new challenges in Slovak small financial companies, where he was responsible for financial analysis and implementation of new projects. He works in startup ecosystem for several years and at present as investment manager of venture capital fund – Fund of innovations and technologies.

Jozef Vojtko

František Jakab

Graduated from St. Petersburg Electro technical University (Russia, 1984). He has extensive experience in area of computer networks and utilization of ICT, he founded the Computer Networks Laboratory at Dpt. Of Computer Network, Technical university of Kosice (www.cnl.sk, in 1995). He coordinated several large international projects, national wide ICT projects and research grants. Published more than 200 papers, 5 books (author, co-author.); Chair of many International Symposiums and conferences, editor of conference Proceedings. Since 1999 until 2014 involved into Cisco Networking academy program in Slovakia, since 2001 in position of coordinator of the Program (development of network of 70 universities and secondary schools), since 2008 until 2014 Regional Lead for Russia, Ukraine and CIS. He is a head of the Application Section of the Communication Technology Forum Association in Slovakia since 2001, head of Committee on business – academic cooperation, American Chamber of Commerce in the Slovakia since 2007, member of the Board of directors of Kosice IT Valley association since 2008, awarded as an “IT person of the year 2006” in Slovakia. Since 2014 director of University Centre for Innovation, Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Protection at Technical University of Kosice.
He is actively involved in the development of University science park Technicom and establishing the startup ecosystem at Technical university of Kosice.



Jaroslav Lupták

Jaro is a co-founder and investment manager at Neulogy Ventures, Slovak largest venture capital firm. He currently serves as the member of supervisory board of several companies, including InHiro, Vectray and CropTech. He also works as an external expert employed by the European Commission, to select the most promising European high-tech startups for the Horizon 2020 program. In 2011, Jaro co-founded StartupAwards.SK, the annual competition for Slovak high-tech startups, which soon turned into the largest startup event in Slovakia. Jaro also managed the first Slovak incubation program in Silicon Valley at the Plug&Play Tech Center.

Rastislav Puchala

Rastislav Puchala, born in Poprad, studied information science, diplomacy, international relations and business in Bratislava, Geneva, Banská Bystrica and Košice / Milton Keynes.
He launched his career as a diplomat with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia (Analytical Department), posted to Slovak Embassies in Geneva, Switzerland and Ottawa, Canada, where he served as a consul. After leaving public service in 2007 he ran his own business (CardioCora) and joined American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) as a Director of AmCham Košice Office in 2007. He led regional AmCham office to the excellent business results. At the same time he worked for the Municipality of Košice as a Director for FDI, marketing and tourism. He co-founded Kosice Tourism cluster in 2010 and was a chairman of the board of the organization. He also represented Municipality of Košice in the Košice IT Valley association, where he later represented AmCham, and he was a member of the board, now president of the board of the Carpathian Foundation. In 2014 he joined KPMG Slovakia and leads company`s East Slovakian operations. He retains excellent relations with key business personalities in the East Slovakia region and business community representatives beyond East Slovakia. He is fluent in English and speaks French and Russian.



Patrik Horný

Senior manager with years of experience in executive roles in multinational consulting and IT ompanies, partner in PriceWaterhouseCoopers and country managing director in Capgemini Czech Republic. Patrick is an expert in the design and implementation of complex transformation solutions related to the introduction of a new culture, organizational models and new technologies. His clients included banking groups as Erste, Raiffeisen, UCB as well as leaders in the energy, telecommunications and manufacturing industry in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Patrick is the co-founder Crowdberry, new equity investment platform, which was developed in collaboration with Tatra Banka Private Banking.



Michal Hladký
Creative Industry Kosice

Was born in Košice, Slovakia in 1981, graduated architecture in 2007 at the Technical University of Košice, Faculty of Arts. Where he now teaches as well.  He is concept author of the Interface 2013 project and he also collaborated on the winning bid document of Košice 2013 European Capital of Culture. From 2008 he works for Košice 2013, NGO where he was responsible for investment projects and creative industries development projects. Since 2014 he is director of the Kosice 2013, NGO which now is concidered as legacy project of ECoC 2013.  He is executive board member of European Creative Business Network and founding partner of the Insitute for Creative Economy. He represented Slovakia in OMC groupe for export and internationalistion of culture and creative sectors. In 2009 he has co-founded and became Minister of panic in civic association Východné Pobrežie,  which operates in the field of culture, urban life and development. It organizes such events like Pecha Kucha Night Košice, public debates, lectures and also published alternative guide for Košice KSC Code.



Andrej Klíma

Andrej is working in the advertising and creative sector. He is founder of several successful companies not only in Slovakia but also in the Czech Republic. He also managed several companies and he acts as an expert advisor for biggest companies in advertising segment. He is passionate supporter of startups and sport activities.



Coaches and Mentors


Martin Jerkovič

Martin has 4 years of experience working as product designer. He spent last two years in San Francisco working for Y Combinator-backed startup Chute and designed one of the most comprehensive marketing automation platforms. Martin also worked with big brands like Amazon, Visa, Capital One, Benefit Cosmetics and publishers New York Times, NBC and Conde Nast, to deliver the best user experience to their customers. In his spare time, he attends hackathons and competitions with his team to collect prizes - 2x StartupWeekend winner, Czech Startup of the Year 2011, Startup Awards 2011 winner.


Matej Ftáčnik

Matej Ftacnik is the founder of The Spot - Booster, the first Slovak startup creative space & accelerator, that has been shaping the local startup ecosystem with a wide range of community-oriented activities (education, networking, mentoring) and business activities (acceleration, corporate consulting, fundraising support) since 2012. The Spot - Booster attracted more than 6500 enthusiasts to it’s 450 events, has 120 mentors that worked with 150 startups and is currently accelerating a handful of the most promising new Slovak startups (i.e. cloudfender.com, datamolino.com).  

Based on Matej’s prior business development experience from Silicon Valley (expansion of Slovak startups nicereply.com and qualityunit.com to US) he’s working hands on with the current portfolio companies on their go-to-market strategies, pitch decks and product strategies. Matej has also organized the first three Startup Weekends in Slovakia, won the national Startup Awards in 2011, co-founded Startup Camps (monthly meetups in 5 Slovak/Czech cities), hosted StartupSummit in Prague (250+ attendants from CEE) and has been active in evangelizing startups and entrepreneurship on Slovak universities and in media.
 




Michal Kacerik
CTO at SaferPass

Michal as CTO at SaferPass (US founded startup) leads the product and distribution team. He is also co-founder of BeeSafe - personal mobile safety application, which won Startup Weekend Zilina 2013.
Active in the Slovak startup scene, regular Startup Weekend mentor and mentor at Pioneers festival.
Has experience in digital marketing, consumer software distribution, performance marketing, software engineering and digital security.

Andrej Rybovič

Andrej has interest in entrepreneurship and startups. Inspires, educates, coaches and supports students, professionals and researchers interested in starting a new company or further developing an early stage. Currently is working as a consultant at the Research Centre of University of Zilina with responsibility for support of spin-off and startup teams. Andrej is one of the member of organization team Startup Weekend Zilina. Participate in the creation of the incubation program BaZa in Zilina.




Peter Šoltés
Promiseo

Peter Soltes started his on-line start-up when he was 18 and was working on on-line marketing even sooner. He combines on-line marketing knowledge with entrepreneurialism. He is now CEO of on-line marketing agency Promiseo, that delivers services to wide range of companies from small start-ups in their beginnings to large stock-listed companies.

Marek Kuzma

CEO of InnocentStore - popular Apple & Lifestyle accessories reseller in Europe. We fight against design uniformity. Founder of Eastcubator - the first co-working space in Kosice & co-founder of StartupCamp - the first regularly held startup meetups in Slovakia. I'm passionate about user experience, inspired by optimism, connecting simplicity & beauty with intelligence, believe in a good design.


Peter Dorčák

Peter is co-owner of EZO.sk company and 2 other companies in Slovakia and Czech republic. He is also an associate professor at Faculty of business management Bratislava and holds the position of Full Professor at Apsley business school London. 

He has won the Global Networker award in Japan, is president of the Slovak marketing association (member of UNWTO) and member of the American marketing association, European marketing confederation and the Junior Chamber International, where he became the first slovak JCI Senator.

His current research interests includes the area of e-marketing and e-commerce, its methods in theory as well as in practice. He is actively involved in several European research consortia to tackle these issues. Research is carried out either in the field of small and medium enterprises or within the tourism sector.

Matej Ďuriš
New Business Development Team @ Slovak Telekom

Product Specialist for more than two years helping Slovak Telekom to develop new, non-core products and services , currently involved in creation and development of Family Assistant tele care service. Responsible mostly for technical development, but also involved in idea development, go-to-market activities, suppliers management and many more. Previous experience with financial analyses and strategy from Slovak private equity sector and foreign corporation. Occasional mentor at Startup weekends and in programs organized by DT’s hub:raum Krakow.

Viliam Vajda

Viliam has interest in the start-up community, entrepreneurship and networking. He works at the Faculty of economics TUKE where he acquired PhD. in the area of finance. Currently he is also acting as a mentor at Start-up centre at Technical University of Kosice and mentor at KPMG´s iKid initiative He is co-founder of renewed start-up centre Eastcubator.



Jozef Tvaroška

Jozef Tvaroška is young and enthusiastic startuper. Designer and organizer of Startup weekend Bratislava. Actually he works as a junior designer in the advertising agency “This is locco”. Jozef is always the youngest member of every team.



Lenka Strmeňová

Lenka worked as a project manager and coordinator in several private companies, but also as a project manager and head of marketing department at Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency. She is skilled in the Project Cycle Management, planning, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluating of the projects as well as in networking, consortia negotiation and coordination of EU projects.

Michal Harustiak

To help young entrepreneurs build their startups, he co-founded an initiative Startup Slovakia which organize Startup Weekends and other startup activities all over Slovakia.
