Event Judges

Patrik Horný

Senior manager with years of experience in executive roles in multinational consulting and IT ompanies, partner in PriceWaterhouseCoopers and country managing director in Capgemini Czech Republic. Patrick is an expert in the design and implementation of complex transformation solutions related to the introduction of a new culture, organizational models and new technologies. His clients included banking groups as Erste, Raiffeisen, UCB as well as leaders in the energy, telecommunications and manufacturing industry in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Patrick is the co-founder Crowdberry, new equity investment platform, which was developed in collaboration with Tatra Banka Private Banking.

Jaroslav Luptak
Investment manager at Neulogy Ventures

 Jaro is a co-founder and investment manager at Neulogy Ventures, Slovak largest venture capital firm. He currently serves as the member of supervisory board of several companies, including InHiro, Vectray and CropTech. He also works as an external expert employed by the European Commission, to select the most promising European high-tech startups for the Horizon 2020 program. In 2011, Jaro co-founded StartupAwards.SK, the annual competition for Slovak high-tech startups, which soon turned into the largest startup event in Slovakia. Jaro also managed the first Slovak incubation program in Silicon Valley at the Plug&Play Tech Center.

Marek Rešovský

Marek Resovsky currently serves as Vice President of Finance and Controlling, as well as in the Board of Directors and Board of Management at T-Systems Slovakia,

the second largest employer in Kosice (3700+ employees). His responsibilities span from financial management, strategy development all the way to the implementation of the strategic goals and objectives of the organization. He is also responsible for Finance and Controlling Shared Service Center which recently employs up to 140

Marek Resovsky is a graduate of the Technical University of Košice in Finance, Banking and Investments.

František Jakab

Graduated from St. Petersburg Electro technical University (Russia, 1984). He has extensive experience in area of computer networks and utilization of ICT, he founded the Computer Networks Laboratory at Dpt. Of Computer Network, Technical university of Kosice (, in 1995). He coordinated several large international projects, national wide ICT projects and research grants. Published more than 200 papers, 5 books (author, co-author.); Chair of many International Symposiums and conferences, editor of conference Proceedings. Since 1999 until 2014 involved into Cisco Networking academy program in Slovakia, since 2001 in position of coordinator of the Program (development of network of 70 universities and secondary schools), since 2008 until 2014 Regional Lead for Russia, Ukraine and CIS. He is a head of the Application Section of the Communication Technology Forum Association in Slovakia since 2001, head of Committee on business – academic cooperation, American Chamber of Commerce in the Slovakia since 2007, member of the Board of directors of Kosice IT Valley association since 2008, awarded as an “IT person of the year 2006” in Slovakia. Since 2014 director of University Centre for Innovation, Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Protection at Technical University of Kosice.
He is actively involved in the development of University science park Technicom and establishing the startup ecosystem at Technical university of Kosice.

Coaches and Mentors

Matej Ftáčnik

Matej Ftacnik is the founder of The Spot - Booster, the first Slovak startup creative space & accelerator, that has been shaping the local startup ecosystem with a wide range of community-oriented activities (education, networking, mentoring) and business activities (acceleration, corporate consulting, fundraising support) since 2012. The Spot - Booster attracted more than 6500 enthusiasts to it’s 450 events, has 120 mentors that worked with 150 startups and is currently accelerating a handful of the most promising new Slovak startups (,  

Based on Matej’s prior business development experience from Silicon Valley (expansion of Slovak startups and to US) he’s working hands on with the current portfolio companies on their go-to-market strategies, pitch decks and product strategies. Matej has also organized the first three Startup Weekends in Slovakia, won the national Startup Awards in 2011, co-founded Startup Camps (monthly meetups in 5 Slovak/Czech cities), hosted StartupSummit in Prague (250+ attendants from CEE) and has been active in evangelizing startups and entrepreneurship on Slovak universities and in media.

Michal Kacerik
CTO at SaferPass

Michal as CTO at SaferPass (US founded startup) leads the product and distribution team. He is also co-founder of BeeSafe - personal mobile safety application, which won Startup Weekend Zilina 2013.
Active in the Slovak startup scene, regular Startup Weekend mentor and mentor at Pioneers festival.
Has experience in digital marketing, consumer software distribution, performance marketing, software engineering and digital security.

Peter Šoltés

Peter Soltes started his on-line start-up when he was 18 and was working on on-line marketing even sooner. He combines on-line marketing knowledge with entrepreneurialism. He is now CEO of on-line marketing agency Promiseo, that delivers services to wide range of companies from small start-ups in their beginnings to large stock-listed companies.

Can help you with: Communication, presentation, marketing, acquisition and retention, attracting the masses or just getting the first customers on board.

Barbora Ruščin
Deutsche Telekom

Barbora works as a Employer Branding Senior Consultant @ Deutsche Telekom for Slovakia & Czech Republic.  Having spend most of her professional life in PR/mark-comms and project management, she has experience in crafting communication strategies, doing market research & leading projects. Having been also extensively exposed to the world of the IP rights, competitive forensic debate, political science & diplomacy, highly diverse markets and communities, as well as the entertainment industry, she claims to be able to help you dig to the very bottom of your capabilities and assist with creating all forms of disruptive strategies for pitching, shall the quality of your business endeavour create a shadow of a doubt over your entrepreneurial self.

On a less crazy side, she can help with: presentation, target group identification and segmentation, market research, customer / user experience review, business case & logic, shaping your narrative, stakeholder management, strategy.

Ján Majroš

Jan Majoros as Product Owner @ Siemens lead international teams in Germany, India and USA. His background is SW development. Jan has interest in startups in medical domain, education, agile/scrum/lean and coaching of the teams to be successful.

Can help you with: project and product organization, agile mentoring, lean canvas, validation of business idea, medical domain.

Michal Borza

Michal Borza actively works over 10 years in a financial analysis, process and project management. He changed the job positions in the world of big corporations for new challenges in Slovak small financial companies, where he was responsible for financial analysis and implementation of new projects. He works in startup ecosystem for several years and at present as investment manager of venture capital fund – Fund of innovations and technologies.

Can help you with: financial and budget analyses, networking, validation 

Lujza Bubánová

With 6+ years in the media industry, Lujza is the founder & CEO of Divano. She studied at Hult IBS (SF) and was very active in the entrepreneurial ecosystem while in the Bay Area. She co-founded the Startupism venture summit (400 attendees, DFJ, 500 startups) and interned at Stanford Innovation Labs. She also co-organized StartupWeekend Slovakia. Prior to founding John Smith (Divano &, she worked at CME broadcasting.

Matej Ďuriš
New Business Development Team @ Slovak Telekom

Product Specialist for more than two years helping Slovak Telekom to develop new, non-core products and services , currently involved in creation and development of Family Assistant tele care service. Responsible mostly for technical development, but also involved in idea development, go-to-market activities, suppliers management and many more. Previous experience with financial analyses and strategy from Slovak private equity sector and foreign corporation. Occasional mentor at Startup weekends and in programs organized by DT’s hub:raum Krakow.

Martin Hasiček
Tatrabanka a.s.

Martin works as enterprise architect in Tatrabanka. During his carrier Martin took several leading technical positions in ICT and software development area in Europe, US and Asia.
Martin will be able to support you in consult your initial idea, trough design and development of your application, up to topics of deployment, security and sizing of your production environment.

Tomáš Osvald

Tomas started his career in Russia where he helped out local pharmaceutical company to establish business partnerships in EU. In 2013, Tomas joined Invest Hong Kong (investment promotion agency/The government of HKSAR) on the StartmeupHK initiative which aims to strengthen the Hong Kong start-up ecosystem and to promote Hong Kong globally as a leading Asian innovation and entrepreneurship hub. He is currently involved in Launcher, a Startup & Innovation studio in Bratislava, Slovakia where he supports portfolio startups with various tasks including business modelling, marketing strategy and overall business strategy with the aim to expand to new markets.

Peter Dorčák

Peter is co-owner of company. Brand EZO is on the market since 1990 and is well known for their production of wellness cosmetic products. These products are on the shelves of most retail chains in Slovakia and Czechia. He is also an associate professor at Faculty of business management Bratislava and holds the position of Full Professor at Apsley business school London. 

He has won the Global Networker award in Japan, is president of the Slovak marketing association (member of UNWTO) and member of the American marketing association, European marketing confederation and the Junior Chamber International, where he became the first slovak JCI Senator.

His current research interests includes the area of business succession, online reputation and e-commerce, its methods in theory as well as in practice. He is actively involved in several European research consortia to tackle these issues. Research is carried out either in the field of small and medium enterprises or within the tourism sector.

Lenka Strmeňová

Lenka worked as a project manager and coordinator in several private companies, but also as a project manager and head of marketing department at Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency. She is skilled in the Project Cycle Management, planning, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluating of the projects as well as in networking, consortia negotiation and coordination of EU projects.

Som študentom katedry elektroenergetiky, najviac ma zaujíma oblasť obchodu s elektrinou a súvisiace aspekty. Mám rád rovnováhu vo vzdelaní preto ďalšie oblasti ktoré študujem a rozvíjam sú schopnosť riešiť problémy, komunikácia, prezentovanie, organizácia času. Okrem iného aj štúdium jazykov, akýkoľvek druh pohybu. Rád sa obklopujem ľuďmi, ktorí robia vo voľnom čase niečo navyše a pracujú na sebe.
