Ever wondered what it takes to be an entrepreneur?

The professional and personal challenges, the high and lows, the failures and the success?

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1800 past events in 120 countries around the world in 2014.

The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. Serial entrepreneur and angel investor. Founder and CEO of Websupport.sk, the largest and most renowned webhosting company in Slovakia. I'm also behind startups like nicereply.com, inhiro.com, runform.com which were born in blackslide.com enviroment.


Petra Kolesarova
Associate at Credo Ventures

Petra is an Associate at Credo Ventures, which a venture capital firm that focuses on early stage companies with international ambitions. Prior to joining Credo Ventures, Petra worked as lawyer managing private equity investments. She completed the Global Law program at the University of Haifa in Israel, gained her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree (JUDr.) from University of Matej Bel and LL.M. degree in International Business Law and Intellectual Property from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate at the Charles University in Prague and focuses on patents as investment instruments.


Jaroslav Luptak
Investment manager at Neulogy Ventures

 Jaro is a co-founder and investment manager at Neulogy Ventures, Slovak largest venture capital firm. He currently serves as the member of supervisory board of several companies, including InHiro, Vectray and CropTech. He also works as an external expert employed by the European Commission, to select the most promising European high-tech startups for the Horizon 2020 program. In 2011, Jaro co-founded StartupAwards.SK, the annual competition for Slovak high-tech startups, which soon turned into the largest startup event in Slovakia. Jaro also managed the first Slovak incubation program in Silicon Valley at the Plug&Play Tech Center.


Veronika Svecova
Grant Consultant

Veronika is grant consultant at Octigon, a.s. She focuses on gaining external public funds for business plans. Her main specialization are structural funds and European Union programs supporting research and innovation. She is looking forward to innovative ideas of teams. Veronika is ready to help them with making presentation of their business plans to be more attractive for investors of public and private sector.


Ondrej Prostrednik
Co-founder of Cloudo

Ondrej Prostrednik is the co-founder of Cloudo - one place to search & organize all your stuff online. Before he co-founded and was lead designer at Lighting Beetle, one of the top UX design agencies in Slovakia.


Peter Dorcak
Co-owner of the EZO

Peter Dorcak is co-owner of the EZO company which has more than twenty-years tradition in manufacturing and selling of cosmetic products. He is owner of the NET WORTH company focused on the creation of marketing strategies in the Central European area. Peter Dorcak is also associate professor at the department of marketing and international trade in Prešov and part-time associate professor at the Goethe Uni with instruction in German language. Peter Dorcak is president of Slovak marketing association and representative of Slovak republic in the European marketing confederation.


Simona Bubanova

Katarina Klinkova

Katka helped several startups in Slovak ecosystem. She co-founded famous Staffino, helped with sales strategies to startups like Culcharge, Orderlord and many other. After her expericence with sales whe founded her company Deal factory. Deal Factory helps companies to improve their sales strategiesin order to be able to sell more. Katka was selected by Forbes 30 under 30 along with other talented people in Slovakia, 2 years in a row. Represented Slovakia in We4startups in Silicon Valley. Proud Alumni of Czech Wayra Accelerator. She is passionate about startups, technology, sales and distribution strategy, marketing, market validation, building world-class products.


Peter Trojak
Board Member - KROS

I´ve been working at KROS since 1996, when I started as a part-time worker and after graduating at Faculty of Management, Science and Informatics at University of Zilina I worked here as a software developer. Later I became Head of development of expert´s software and currently I work as  a guarantor of projects HYPO and MEMO, and I am board member of KROS as well. My main role is to provide solutions that help customers in their daily work and to find new tools to make it more effective. I really enjoy work with my clever team and continuous improvement of our software.


Katarina Trnovcova

Head of Classifieds and SMB at Azet.sk
I focus on Internet services at a professional level more than 10 years. I love internet environment because it allows rapid progress, make big changes in small increments and extremely support personal development and creativity.


Vlastimil Kocián
Board member and guarantor of iKROS

Vlasto has been working at KROS since 1996, currently as a board member and guarantor of iKROS project. He graduated from the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics at the University of Zilina. He likes to identify hidden customer needs and look for innovations in software development. He is friendly, family-oriented person with passion to read books and to do all kind of sports. He believes that positive thinking and smile lead to success and happiness.


Lujza Bubanova
Co-founder - Divano & Board Member - Emotion ID

With 6+ years in the media industry, Lujza is the founder & CEO of Divano. She studied at Hult IBS (SF) and was very active in the entrepreneurial ecosystem while in the Bay Area. She co-founded the Startupism venture summit (400 attendees, DFJ, 500 startups) and interned at Stanford Innovation Labs. She also co-organized StartupWeekend Slovakia. Prior to founding John Smith (Divano & Emotionid.eu), she worked at CME broadcasting.


Jozef Bardik
Serial entrepreneur and angel investor

Private equity professional with experience in strategy consulting and entrepreneurial background. Experience with projects and deals in various industries and regions (mainly Western and Eastern Europe, Middle East).

Currently building a venture projects portfolio of my own primarily in CEE, UAE and India, while supporting financially, strategically and as a board member or adviser various non-profit ventures in Slovakia (e.g., Provida, YPE, Detstvo Detom, Nexteria, Global Shapers Slovakia). At the same time still working with McKinsey as external consultant (Dubai, Saudi Arabia, CEE).


Lucia Kubinska

Webdesigner with degree in advertising, communication and PR. Dived into the world of online product design and development as co-founder of InHiro.com. I feel at home in webdesign, online branding and identity, UX+UI, creative concepts, online marketing.


Tomas Osvald
Business Developer at LAUNCHER

In 2013, Tomas joined Invest Hong Kong (investment promotion agency/The government of HKSAR) on the StartmeupHK initiative which aims to strengthen the Hong Kong start-up ecosystem. Tomas is currently involved in Launcher, a Startup & Innovation studio in Bratislava, Slovakia where he supports portfolio startups with various tasks including business modeling, marketing strategy and overall business strategy with the aim to expand to new markets.
