Your dream does not exist, you must create it!
  • You have an idea and are looking for talented team members?
  • You've got talent and want to contribute to implement an idea?
  • You want to learn how an idea turns into a business model?
At the Startup Weekend Zurich you can meet participants from all fields. During the weekend you will develop your ideas into business models. You will have access to inspiring coaches and top-notch startup experts who will support you. In the end you will present your business models to the jury, who will give you feedback and choose the best business models. Included in the event price are all presentations, the food and all drinks. In addition all participants will receive an attractive package of vouchers and services which are useful for every startup. Event language will be English.

Learn all the secrets about the Business model canvas: a simple & team friendly tool to describe, design, challenge, invent, and pivot your business model. An introduction to VPD (Value proposition design) will also be presented by Peter from Strategyzer!

Co-Founder Strategyzer

Peter joined Alexander Osterwalder and Alan Smith as a Co-founder of Strategyzer. Their aim is to turn every business practitioner into a tool user. With their first tool the Business Model Canvas and the new Value Proposition Canvas they are getting closer to this goal.

Team Head Foundation Affairs - Technopark Academy Zurich

Matthias is the team lead for foundation affairs of the Technopark Zurich, responsible for the Technopark Academy and the networking, coaching and quality control of the companies in the Technopark.  He received his PhD in electrical engineering of ETH Zurich in 2001.


Julian Teicke
Co-Founder & COO DeinDeal AG

Julian ist ein leidenschaftlicher Unternehmer. Seit er im Alter von 16 Jahren seine erste Firma gründete ist er bestrebt, gross zu denken und seine Ideen zu verwirklichen. Nach seinem Studium der Betriebsökonomie in St. Gallen begann er in Start-ups in Europa (zB Groupon in London) zu arbeiten und gründete DeinDeal. Als COO von Deindeal ist er für die Bereiche Operations, Customer Care, Supply Chain und IT verantwortlich.



Benedikt Böckenförde
CEO and Co-Founder of VISUAL STATEMENTS® and HotelsinHeaven®

Benedikt Böckenförde (33) is a German serial entrepreneur and consultant. He is CEO and Co-Founder of von VISUAL STATEMENTS® and HotelsinHeaven® and has been consulting large Mediacorporations in Germany for several years (Hubert Burda Media, Gruner+Jahr and Bauer Media Group). Benedikt is deeply passionate about entrepreneurships and startups and holds a Mastersdegree in business, finance and history.


Haim Volinsky
Tech Founder & Investor

Haim has a proven track record of successfully growing technology businesses rapidly. Amongst others, he led the HyNEX acquisition by Cisco in 2000. Based in Israel, Haim held several executive positions in marketing, sales and business development in start-ups, such as Axerra, Spediant, Kite Systems and HyNEX, as well as in large multinational corporations, such as Motorola and Cisco.

Johannes is an artist and entrepreneur. He is the founder & CEO of wemakeit.ch, the leading crowdfunding platform for creative ideas, artistic endeavors and innovative products.


Maebellyne Ventura
Digital Marketing Manager at Experis and Founder of Clever Biscuit

Maebellyne is a digital marketer at Wealthport, a tech startup offering data integration as a service. She is also a co-founder of Clever Biscuit, a web application development startup tackling challenges in personal finance, recruitment and international SEO. Having started out her career as a psychologist, Maebellyne now spends her time exploring the intersections of human behavior and the online world. She is interested in subjects such as search engine marketing, analytics, online community development,data science, entrepreneurship and female leadership.


Cedric Waldburger
CTO & Co-Founder at mediasign

Cédric holds a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich and serves as CTO of mediasign, a Swiss Advertising Agency where he leads the web and mobile development team. He has previously co-founded StartUps in Paris, Hong Kong and New York and has worked for ASmallWorld in New York and Goldman Sachs in London. He recently finished a project with SumUp, the European SquareUp competitor in Berlin. He's an active participant in the Swiss StartUp Scene as a Coach and Investor of several Technology Startups.


Heinz Zürcher
Serial Entrepreneur, Member of the Board at TG Capital Holding AG

Heinz is a serial entrepreneur with over 24 years active in international markets. Through the various companies he has founded and brought to scale, he has been instrumental in introducing numerous prestigious European brands in sectors covering retail, food, media, renewable energy, health care and financial services to the high-growth markets of Asia. Heinz's expertise and strengths lie in business development (analysis, strategy and implementation), M&A, negotiation and critical business turnaround situations including leading the restructuring as CEO of a publicly-listed European media organization with interests in China.


Christof Roduner
COO and co-founder at Scandit AG

Christof Roduner is the COO and co-founder of Scandit, the leading barcode scanning and data capture platform for smartphones, tablets and wearable devices. Christof is responsible for Scandit's backend infrastructure and IT, general operations and legal. Before founding Scandit, Christof was a researcher at ETH Zurich and MIT, where he worked on Internet of Things-related projects with industry partners such as Deutsche Telekom, Nokia, NTT DoCoMo and SAP. Christof a MSc from the University of Zurich and a PhD from ETH Zurich both in computer science.


Kilian Wagner
Co-Founder & CEO at shopviu.com

Kilian Wagner is the CEO of VIU, an eyewear startup shaking up the Swiss optical industry. Prior to VIU, he worked 5 years as a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company, leading projects in different industries (Telecoms, Banking, Media, Consumer Goods) with focus on growth strategy and market entry. He holds a M.A. in Business Administration from the University of St.Gallen (HSG).


Thomas Gabathuler
CEO of Wilmaa

Thomas is CEO of Wilmaa. He founded Solutionpark with 3 partners during his studies at the ETH; Solutionpark established itself very successfully as a streaming service-provider, and survived the bursting of the Internet bubble and later increased to number 1 in Europe. This journey ends with an exit to Swisscom. With Wilmaa.com he launched the first platform that successfully brings cable TV to browsers.


Tobias Rein
Co-Founder & CTO at GetYourGuide

Tobias holds a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich and is co-founder of GetYourGuide. Since its foundation in 2007 by 5 ETH students, GetYourGuide has emerged to the web's largest platform for tours and activities around the world. Having succeeded in getting two leading venture capital companies on board with over 14 Million US-Dollar, the seed-round of GYG was one of the biggest overseas investments ever received by a european startup. GetYourGuide operates today out of three offices based in Zurich, Berlin and Las Vegas.


Carla Kaufmann
CEO companymarket.ch & geschäftsfrau.ch

Carla Kaufmann went to law school at the University of St. Gallen. She then worked as a consultant at a lawyer's office and, later on, as a tax advisor and analyst for PWC. In 2010 she took over the largest internet portal for M&A in Switzerland – 'companymarket.ch'. In 2012 she co-founded the association 'geschäftsfrau.ch' with regard to which she successfully applied for a government grant. Apart from being CEO of companymarket.ch and president of geschäftsfrau.ch Carla is married and a mother of three.


Palo Stacho
Entrepreneur & Board Member EO Switzerland (Entrepreneurs' Organization)

Palo is a passionate entrepreneur and change agent. Starting his first company already 20 years ago he’s familiar with all stages of the entrepreneurial life cycle. Palo’s expertise and strengths lie in business development, B2B sales, project management, M&A, strategy development and Information Technology. Additionally he’s member of the board of Entrepreneurs’ Organization Switzerland – Zurich and he acts often as entrepreneurial trainer and facilitator.


Janina Woods
Game Designer, Co-Founder of Ateo

Janina studied game design at the Zurich University of the Arts. Directly after graduation, she worked as a Serious Games developer at YouRehab and the ETH Zurich. Afterwards she became one of the co-founders of Ateo, enjoying the ups and downs of the startup life. Ateo creates games and apps with Augmented & Virtual Reality. As a speaker, she tries to spread the the love of games and Virtual Reality.


Alistair Shepherd

We have the pleasure to introduce you to Alistair Shepherd from UK who will facilitate the weekend. Alistair Shepherd started his second company, Saberr, at a startup weekend in Seattle two years ago and it's still going strong! He's also a Global Scholar and Fellow of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, a Startup Weekend Facilitator and Research Fellow, an Engineering Researcher and Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Southampton, a guest lecturer at the Universities of Bristol, Exeter and Southampton and is also the Chairman of the Board for the Student Kitesurfing Association.
