Damascus Startup Weekend

ستارت أب ويكند دمشق هو حدث من 54 ساعة نشاط مكثفة حيث يجتمع رواد أعمال محليون، مطوروا وب، مصممون، خبراء تسويق، مديروا إنتاج، أناس متحمسون لبدء شركات ناشئة، وأي شخص مهتم ببدء عمل أو شركة ومساعدة المجتمع المحلي. يجتمع هؤلاء معاً ليتشاركوا الأفكار، يشكلوا الفرق ويطلقوا شركات ناشئة.
تمت إقامتها أكثر من ألف و خمس مائة مرة في 726 مدينة حول العالم و نتج عنها أكثر من ثلاثة عشر ألف مشروع ناشئ بمشاركة أكثر من 123 ألف ريادي 
العام الماضي تم إقامة المسابقة للمرة الأولى في دمشق بمشاركة 118 رياديو نتج عنها 16 مشروع استطاع خمسة منها الاستمرار إلى الآن.

رؤيتنا الحالة تتمثل بإشراك 75 من الشباب المتحمسين و المهتمين بإطلاق مشاريعهم و مساعدتهم لإطلاق 15 مشروعاً على الأقل و دعمهم بكل السبل لإكمال الطريق و استمرار أكبر عدد منهم.
ما هو الهدف من تنظيم هذا الحدث؟
يهدف الحدث إلى تسليط الضوء على ريادة الأعمال وأهميتها للشباب السوري ليصنعوا فرصهم بأنفسهم ويقرروا مصيرهم الخاص بهم في ظل مستقبل مجهول ويطلقوا العنان لإبداعهم.
تنظيم Damascus Startup Weekend  في ظل هذه الظروف والتحديات الصعبة التي تمر فيها سوريا يعد تحدياً في حد ذاته. ولكن أهمية هذا الحدث من لفت لانتباه المجتمع المحلي والعالمي إلى المواهب الرائعة والخلاقة غير المستثمرة لدى الشباب السوري، هذه الأهمية الأمر يستحق خوض التحدي. أحد جوانب هذا البلد التي لم تدمر بعد هو إبداع وتوق شبابه إلى بناء مجتمع أفضل بالتقدم والازدهار. ونأمل أن تساعدونا من خلال الإنضمام إلينا لتكونوا جزءاً من هذا الحدث الكبير!من يقوم بهذا الحدث؟
نحن مجموعة من الشباب السوري المتحمس للريادة والأعمال الناشئة.  نهدف إلى تنظيم حدث ستارت أب ويكند في بلدنا، كجزء من رؤيتنا الكبيرة في نشر البيئة الريادية التي سيقودها الشباب لمواجهة الظروف الصعبة.

Ahmad Bassel Al Kheshi
Deputy Minister at MOCT Syria

Dr. Ahmad Bassel Alkheshi is the deputy minister at the Ministry of Communications & Technology in Syria. Leading several national strategic ICT projects and initiatives, Dr. Alkheshi has been directly involved in important technology-based socioeconomic development activities in Syria. He has also held several important positions in the academic field, ICT private sector, professional NGO, international cooperation, and lately in the government sector. 

Throughout his role as the head of the executive team for the e-government initiative and as a chairman of board of the Syrian Telecom Company, Dr. Alkheshi had a great role in guiding policy development and implementation of ICT sector in Syria. He is currently the chairman of Damascus Administrative Committee at the Syrian Computer Society. He is also directly connected to the youth community as he is a lecturer at the faculty of Informatics Engineering at Damascus University and at the Higher Institute of Business Administration (HIBA).

Ziad Sabah
Chief Marketing Officer at MTN Syria

Ziad Sabah is the Chief Marketing Officer at MTN Syria, which he joined in 2006. He has been working in the field of mobile telecommunications since 2003. He Carries an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

Born in Beirut in 1973, Ziad graduated from the American University of Beirut with a Bachelor in Computers and Communications Engineering.

Wassim Kawadri
Charging Senior Manager" at MTN

expert-level professional with 14+ years diverse experience in Telecom and IT domains with very strong background in management and business analysis. He graduated from Damascus University with a Bachelor degree in Electronics Engineering and holds an MBA degree from AASTMT, Graduate School of Business.
He is also Certified Project Management professional and Certified Risk Management Professional.
Wassim Kawadri is specialized in Mobile Telecommunication Charging, Intelligent Networks and Value Added Services. Lead multi-million projects to success and effectively handled major platforms and organizational transformations projects in both commercial and humanitarian industries. His previous held positions had provided him with an in-depth skills with strong strategic capabilities. Wassim’s experience gained from well-known Mobile Telecom organizations in the middle-east region during launching /green field / till their full operation, also worked for United Nations / WFP. He has led multi-culture teams in delivering cost-efficient solutions and successful projects utilizing several leading suppliers in the market and diverse communities.

Firas Enayeh

Firas Enayeh is the General Manager of Memac Ogilvy Damascus, he is also the founder of memo express the first domestic courier in Syria, managing partner of momentum Syria part of momentum worldwide the first phygital ( digital , physical ) marketing agency in the world Expert marketing and social media marketing Now he works as a marketing / social media marketing consultant and manages his new venture ( rusty diner ) Also, he is Tedx Speaker and he had a degree in law from Beirut Arab university

Omar Al-Khiami
National President in Junior Chamber International Syria

Omar AL-KHIAMI held several leadership positions in NGOs and volunteering Groups in Syria for more than ten years. In addition, he has a record of accomplishments and awards. In the same time while volunteering, he worked with many companies in different sectors, which enabled him to see the work of the various management methods and models.Omar AL-KHIAMI established and managed many companies and NGOs (db. Syria Company, Raya Lingo Company, VOOM BSC, Farah association, IGive, and Phoenix Advisory). He holds a practicing negotiator certificate from George Mason University (USA), graduate of the Academy of digital media Literacy (AUB). In addition, he is a member in Arab Union of the Internet (Beirut) and is currently the National President of JCI Syria

Muhannad Oukal

Dr. Muhannad Adnan Oukal is the founder and chairman of ALTANMYA Group, which consists of ALTANMYA - Education & Development, ALTANMYA - Consulting & Auditing, and ALTANMYA- Technology Solutions.Dr. Oukal has obtained PhD in Financial Risk Management from New York University in 2013 and a Master degree in Islamic Economic from American University of Technology in 2009, and he is now a Master candidate in Accounting at Al-Jinan University. Dr. Oukal holds many internationally recognized certifications as: Certified Trainer, CFC, Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance, CIB, CIPA, SCPA, and Int’l Commercial Arbitration from Canadian Sudanese Collage. Dr. Muhannad Oukal is a Member in the American Institute of Financial Consultants.Dr. Oukal has participated in the success of Economic Days, Startup Weekend, iGive Mini-MBA Program, and he was recognized for his achievements in providing over 5,000 voluntary training hours for students of different sectors and universities in Syria & Lebanon.

Madhat Alsoos
Technical Manager at zGroup

Madhat Alsoos is a PhD candidate and teacher assistant at Artificial Intelligence Department, Faculty of Information Technology Engineering, Damascus University. He has a Master degree in Artificial Intelligence from Damascus University 2012. He is a member of Syrian Computer Society Administrative Committee Damascus. He is a judge in ACM Arab Collegiate Programming Contest (ACPC) and the chief judge of the ACM Syrian Collegiate Programming Contest since 2011. He is also a Member of Informatics Central Scientific Committee in National Commission for the Syrian Science Olympiad. His working experience started on 2007 in a partner company of SCS-NET Internet Service Provider. In the last 3 years he managed and supervised many projects for enterprise Syrian companies including Syriatel, Real Estate Bank and General Radio & Television Authority

Ahmad Sufian Bayram
Techstars MEA Regional Manager

Ahmad Sufian Bayram is a Syrian social entrepreneurship. He works as the Middle East and Africa regional manager at Techstars, a worldwide network that helps entrepreneurs succeed with a portfolio of over 1,100 companies and operation in 150 countries with a variety of programs including Startup Weekend and Startup Week. Ahmad has played an essential role in supporting Syrian in gaining access to entrepreneurship and building a supportive ecosystem as Jusoor Managing Directo. He's Techfugees board of adviser, and Entrepreneur in Residence at Aliqtisadi. Ahmad co-chairs many programmes with the aim of empowering Syrian entrepreneurs and advising several startups and non-profit organizations.
