Ever wondered what it takes to be an entrepreneur?  

The professional and personal challenges, the high and lows, the failures and the success? 

Startup Weekend 
is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1800 past events in 120 countries around the world in 2014.

The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. ‘How can technology improve the travel lifecycle?’  

If you think of travel, you might think it’s booking a hotel, taking a flight and enjoying some time away from work!

In fact there are many phases to each and every travel experience. Most travellers start by getting inspired for a future trip, probably looking at different sources of information for ideas and opinions. They then begin to shop around, searching for travel options to meet their budget, itinerary and preferences. Then it comes to actually booking the trip, adding on any extras they might need and then counting down to the trip. 

As soon as a traveller leaves their house, the trip begins. Maybe they need to get to the airport, to their hotel, or a transfer at their destination. Once at their chosen destination, there could be excursions, visiting local tourist spots, eating at local restaurants and enjoying the destination.

But the travel experience doesn’t end once they get on the flight to come home. There’s a whole new phase known as ‘post-travel’ where people share their experiences on social networks, give online reviews and ultimately inspire others for their future trips.

The travel lifecycle has many touch points and is a broad ecosystem of travel players and providers. And not all travellers are the same, with new traveller types (or tribes) emerging all the time. Different people have varying travel needs and preferences and expect different things from their travel experience.

เมื่อนึกถึงการท่องเที่ยว  นอกจากจุดหมายในใจที่อยากเดินทางไปแล้ว สิ่งต่อมาที่นักเดินทางทุกคนต้องเตรียมให้พร้อมก็คือการจองโรงแรม การเดินทาง ที่ต้องเลือกว่าจะขึ้นรถบัส นั่งรถไฟ หรือบินสบายๆ ไปกับเครื่องบินดี เสื้อผ้าที่จะใส่ ของที่ต้องเตรียมไป เรียกว่า กว่าจะได้ไปพักผ่อนอย่างเต็มที่ในแต่ละที มีเรื่องให้ทำเพียบ!

การเตรียมตัวท่องโลกกว้างในแต่ละครั้ง นักท่องเที่ยวส่วนใหญ่มักเริ่มจากการหาข้อมูลและแรงบันดาลใจจากแหล่งข้อมูลต่างๆ แล้วจึงตัดสินใจว่าจะเดินทางท่องเที่ยวด้วยตัวเอง หรือเลือกซื้อแพคเกจทัวร์ แน่นอนว่าต้องเหมาะสมกับงบประมาณที่มี แต่ความชอบและแผนการเดินทางก็ยังเป็นหัวใจสำคัญ

การผจญภัยเพื่อทริปในฝันนั้นเริ่มต้นตั้งแต่ก้าวแรกที่ออกจากบ้านเลยทีเดียว เพราะกว่าจะถึงจุดหมาย ก็เผชิญการเดินทางหลายต่อ สำหรับบางคนการเดินทางไกลทำให้พวกเขารู้สึกเหนื่อย จุดหมายปลายทางที่เลือกจึงอาจเปลี่ยนเป็นการไปเยือนแหล่งท่องเที่ยวท้องถิ่นใกล้ๆ  ทานอาหารพื้นเมือง และดื่มด่ำกับบรรยากาศโดยรอบแทน
  แต่การเดินทางยังไม่จบลงเพียงแค่นั้น เมื่อกลับถึงบ้านยังมีการเดินทางในโลกเสมือนจริงบนสื่อออนไลน์ที่เรียกว่า ‘Post-Travel’ หรือการแชร์ประสบการณ์การท่องเที่ยวของตนเองลงบน Social Network เพื่อให้ข้อมูลรีวิวและให้แรงบันดาลใจแก่นักเดินทางคนอื่นๆในอนาคต

ดังนั้นการท่องเที่ยวคือวงการที่มีระบบความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างนักเดินทางและผู้ให้บริการ ที่มีความหลากหลายสูง เพราะนักท่องเที่ยวแต่ละวัย แต่ละเชื้อชาติก็มีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัว ความต้องการสัมผัสประสบการณ์การท่องเที่ยวใหม่ๆ จึงเกิดขึ้นตลอดเวลา

Reena has over 11 years’ experience in Amadeus mastering her skills in solution and customer delivery, project management, business development and solution sales. With her initiative and positive attitude, Reena has started a few key Startup projects which developed into a proof of concept that has led to new opportunities in the company.  For the past two years, she has been at the forefront of airline distribution sales that engage the airline to connect with their travel IT, using the best solutions available enabling them to optimise their revenues. She holds a degree in Computer Science with an MBA in Marketing Management.

Bart Bellers is an experienced business executive and passionate out-of-the-box thinker who has successfully led commercial and innovation initiatives at the leading edge of technology.   Bart is Senior Advisor, Business Development at Amadeus Asia Pacific and his role is to lead new business opportunities and seed innovative initiatives in the region. He has been with Amadeus for over 11 years and held management positions in Customer Delivery, Business Development & Innovation. Prior to Amadeus, Bart built up a strong digital, technology and commercial background in the ICT industry and has worked for several start-ups focusing on the development of e-business solutions. His credo is: “Think Different” and “Just Do It”.

Thanachat Tangsriwong
Investment manager

Chad is an Investment Manager of CyberAgent Ventures who is leading an operation for CAV in Bangkok, Thailand. His scope of responsibilities covers exploring investment opportunities in Thailand and SEA region and supporting/incubating business development of portfolio companies.In Bangkok, Thailand, Chad is overseeing 5 portfolio companies and in 3 of those he also acts as a member of Non-Executive of Board of Directors.

Natavudh Pungcharoenpong

Moo Natavudh is a tech entrepreneur with over 12 years experience in founding, funding and managing tech companies.

He is currently the founder and CEO of OOKBEE (, Thailand's biggest e-book store with market shares over 85%. OOKBEE two most popular apps are "AIS bookstore" and "B2S e-book store". Since the launch, both apps have been in the top 5 Top Grossing iPad Apps in the Thai Apple AppStore everyday for the past 2 years. Besides these two apps OOKBEE has over 180 more apps on the App Store. OOKBEE now has over 4 million downloads and 3 million users and is adding more than 10,000 new users everyday. 

OOKBEE raised US$2 million in Sep 2012 from InVent (a venture capital arm of In Touch.)

Besides Ookbee, Moo also the founder and CEO of IT WORKS, one of the leading software companies in Thailand. OOKBEE was started as a project in this company and was spin-off in March 2012.

Archavakul Punyashithiti

Archie has over 10 years’ experience in travel IT, focusing on product management and deployment to help customers in Asia Pacific find solutions to address complex business needs. In his previous role as Manager, Hotel Distribution, Archie implemented partnership programmes and seasonal marketing campaigns with world leading hotel chains to increase sales volumes. Nowadays Archie focuses on defining and executing strategic initiatives to boost growth in the Asia Pacific Region.   As Amadeus has adapted, innovated and grown, Archie has been part of several implementation projects including Loyalty program, SMS application for travel agencies and the Amadeus Front office system. He is a big believer in the power of innovation and enjoys finding new ways of doing things. He holds a degree in Computer Science with an MBA in Marketing & Entrepreneur and a Msc. Supply Engineering & Logistics.

Darren Milward
Manager, Pre-Sales and Consulting, Amadeus Asia Pacific

Darren left school at 16 to start his working life as an apprentice on the shop floor of a local factory in his home town in the UK. After eight years in engineering followed by studies in rainy Manchester, the call of Amadeus and sunshine was too hard to resist. Starting as a programmer, his eighteen year career in the travel industry has seen him progress through various roles including trainer, training manager and online implementation manager.   For the past three years, he has been at the forefront of the pre-sales and consulting team in Asia Pacific, working with customers and partners throughout the region to help them optimise and expand Amadeus solutions to meet their needs and gain new business. Constant customer contact has enabled Darren to identify and specify several new products and features, leading to an Amadeus award for innovation. 

George Caceres
Manager, Pre-Sales & Consulting, Amadeus Asia Pacific

A passion for travel, meeting people and adventure is what has set George on a path to work in the tourism industry. Starting his career straight out of school in an Airline, and soon after moving to Amadeus to not only increase his knowledge and capabilities, but to also challenge himself in any area he found himself in. George considers one of the most valuable traits to be the ability to diversify ones skills and to show willingness to embrace changes and to rise above any challenge.   George began his career with Amadeus in 2004 in Sydney, Australia. Starting in an operations role to support all types of customers. Since then he has also held positions in sales and account management before moving to Thailand in 2012 to lead a strategic operations team. Using all his past abilities, George now works in a pre-sales & consulting role which utilises all his skills in operations, product knowledge and sales to meet with some of the most important customers of Amadeus to continue to promote the brand throughout Asia Pacific.

Thitiphun Duwa (Johnny)
Sale Engineer Manager, Airline Distribution, Amadeus Asia Pacific

Started his career as Reservation and Ticketing Agent in 1991, then moved on to Amadeus Thailand in 1996 to find more challenges. He worked in many areas such as Help Desk, Fare and Ticketing Specialist, Technical and Product Development.   In 2006, he moved to Amadeus’s Regional office in Bangkok as Ticketing Product Manager for Asia Pacific (APAC). He was a part of the project team from APAC to enable 100% e-Ticket deployment worldwide and Amadeus had highest number of carriers which enabled e-Ticket at the given deadline. He then moved to a Sales Engineer role, enabling airlines in APAC to connect to Amadeus with highest connectivity level, best solution and most importantly enabling airlines to gain more revenue from the solution which they implemented, such as Merchandising Solutions. (Ancillary Services, Fare Families etc.)

Sutthida Chanyavanich

Mam is the head of Regional Product Management at Amadeus Asia, responsible for managing the product life-cycle from conceptual design to delivery and product evolution. She and her team provide solutions which help travel agencies across the Asia-Pacific connect to content from various travel providers, manage their operations efficiently and serve travellers better. In her free time, Mam is also known for her passion in cooking and creating happiness through her food.

Nandika Sathaporn
Solutions Marketing Manager, Amadeus Asia Pacific

Albert Einstein once said “Creativity is intelligence having fun.’’ It’s for this reason that Leena first chose to be a marketer, and it continues to inspire her more than 10 years on. Leena’s passion is coming up with creative ideas applying them as fun and engaging marketing campaigns. With previous experience with a number of multinational companies, Leena has had to adapt her skills from B2C consumer marketing to the B2B world of travel technology. Her career started in advertising, working with top brands in the areas of client service and customer insight. She then completed her Master’s Degree in marketing and had the opportunity to work with some of the top NGOs in Seattle. She joined Amadeus in 2010 with a focus on Solutions Marketing, and is responsible for developing the Amadeus product value proposition, communication strategies and execution of marketing programmes to help promote travel agency solutions throughout the travel ecosystem.

Kulkanya Prateeptong

Kulkanya is an unconventional combination of arts and science. A former Arts student with a Master’s Degree in Travel Management, Kul has been in the world of travel technology for more than 8 years, quietly mastering her skills in product management, implementation, account management, marketing and communication.  She is also a part-time public speaking coach for Amadeus staff.  Prior to Amadeus, Kulkanya worked for the fastest-growing online travel business in Asia Pacific, focusing on the acquisition of new hotel partners.
