Speakers


Simon Stockley
Teaching Fellow in Entrepreneurship, Cambridge Judge Business School

Simon is a Teaching Fellow in Entrepreneurship at Cambridge Judge Business School and Deputy Director of Accelerate Cambridge, the School’s new enterprise accelerator. Prior to his recent appointment at Cambridge, Simon spent 10 years at Imperial College Business School as director of the full-time MBA programme and a principal teaching fellow. His MBA course in entrepreneurship was ranked 3rd in the world by the Financial Times. Outside work, Simon is a social entrepreneur and an advocate for trafficked women in which capacity he has advised Parliament. He holds several non-executive directorships and has advised well over 100 technology start-ups.

Alan Barrell
Entrepreneur in Residence, Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship Advisory Board Member

   After three score years and more than ten, Alan Barrell finds it hard to say “no” to innovation and entrepreneurial ideas which arrive in his life by all known communication means daily.   Biologist with experience in NHS medical technology, turned salesman turned businessman, entrepreneur, venture capitalist and labelled now “pracademic”, Alan is a champion of the next generation and the vision of A World Without Borders – through Education Without Borders and Open Innovation. Entrepreneur in Residence at the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning Judge Business School University of  Cambridge, Visiting Professor at University of Sunderland and in China at Xiamen University, Shanghai University and Shanghai College of Science and Technology, International Research Fellow at Laurea University Helsinki and Lahti University in Finland,  and at the Tohoku Fukushi University Sendai Japan, Alan is also engaged in support of NHS Healthcare Reforms after being Chair of NHS Health Enterprise East Ltd for eight years. His next generation work extends to Board Membership / shareholdings in four early stage health care companies and to being Chairman of Trustees of NACUE – National Association of College and University Entrepreneurs and advisor to Start Up Generation International and Youth Business China. In his spare time raises money for the charitable causes he supports. New book out July 2013 – co-authored with David Gill and Martin Rigby – “Show Me The Money – how to raise the money needed to get your business off the ground” Knighted in Finland by the President there in 2012 for services to education – Knight First Class of the Order of the White Rose of Finland having earlier been one of the first ten recipients of The Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion.
Travels widely but always loves coming home to Cambridge.


Kieran Murray
Managing Director - Business Development & Strategy, BNY Mellon Investment Management

Kieran Murray is a Managing Director of business strategy for BNY Mellon’s Investment Management businesses. He leads the EMEA business strategy team and is responsible for planning and executing initiatives sponsored by both the BNY Mellon Executive Committee and the Investment Management businesses. In addition, Mr. Murray serves as a director of C&S Private Equity Investors GmbH.   Before joining BNY Mellon in January 2013, Mr. Murray held a number of senior roles at Henderson Global Investors and worked as a director at Ernst & Young consulting, focusing on the asset management sector. While at Henderson Global Investors, Mr. Murray was a member of the Listed Assets management team with responsibility for the development and implementation of business unit strategy incorporating product development, M&A and operational initiatives.


Mark Gibbons
EMEA CIO, BNY Mellon

Mark is the European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Chief Information Officer (CIO) for BNY Mellon.  Before joining BNY Mellon, Mark was at JP Morgan Chase for 8 years and was responsible for EMEA Middle Office Outsourcing Technology and IT Transformation.   Prior to joining two of the world's largest banks Mark was Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at FundsHub.com, a funds trading platform which was subsequently acquired by JP Morgan Chase.  He also helped established a Financial Products Division at Synamic Ltd, backed by venture capitalist 3i Group and bootstrapped his own Financial Services IT business which he successfully ran throughout the 90's. 


Susanne Chishti

Hanadi Jabado
Director, Accelerate Cambridge

Hanadi is passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation. She has founded and built businesses in several industries, including education, online retail and property, and has used her multicultural background and experience with new technologies to cofound Ecamb, a business accelerator aiming at helping entrepreneurs to succeed globally. Hanadi has driven the creation of Accelerate Cambridge, the new accelerator at the Cambridge Judge Business School, and is currently its director.Hanadi has been closely involved with over 100 start-ups over the globe and across industries over the last three years. Born in Lebanon and raised in France, she is fluent in English, French and Arabic and speaks another four languages. She lives in London with her four children.


Christophe Le Lannou
Co-Founder Serene Asset Management

During my 17 years in finance, I was responsible for the development of various systematic investment strategies and fully automatic infrastructure.  I combine a pragmatic approach to research with strong programming and data management skills. I have recently created my own investment company.
I am passionate about investment, technologies, innovation and entrepreneurship.


Jeremy Sosabowski
Co-founder and CEO of AlgoDynamix

Jeremy is co-founder and CEO of AlgoDynamix a software analytics company focusing on (financially) disruptive events. The software is used by major asset managers in both UK and international markets. His previous roles included data scientist (analytics, statistics and user profiling) at a payment processing company and CTO at a telecommunication network infrastructure company. Jeremy co-founded several other companies including OptiSynx (technology acquired) and Cambridge Frequency Standards Ltd. He has an undergraduate and two post graduate degrees in Engineering, including a PhD from the University of Cambridge (laser physics). His interests are in ‘high tech’ entrepreneurship, including FinTech, big data and algorithms.http://www.algodynamix.com/


Marleen Enright
Director, Business Development & Strategy, BNY Mellon Investment

Marleen Enright is a Director of business strategy for BNY Mellon’s Investment Management businesses. Responsible for planning and executing initiatives sponsored by both the BNY Mellon Executive Committee and the Investment Management businesses.   Before joining BNY Mellon in January 2014, Ms. Enright spent three years working in Strategy M&A at Barclays Wealth. She has ten years of experience in execution focussed roles having worked in equity sales at Deutsche Bank, leveraged finance at GE and deal execution at Barclays. Ms. Enright was awarded a Master of Business Administration from London Business School and a Bachelor of Science in economics from New York University.


Peter Hazou
EMEA Market Management

Peter Hazou is the Head of Market Management for Treasury Services, Europe, Middle East and Africa ("EMEA") responsibly for the development of BNY Mellon’s Payments and Trade Finance solutions and propositions     Previously, from 2008 – 2012, Peter was based in Milan Italy as Head of Strategy & Business Development, Global Transaction Banking, at UniCredit.   Prior to that, Peter was the Regional Head for the UK & Europe for Transaction Banking at HSBC, London. From 1998 to 2001, Peter was Regional Manager for Citibank’s GTS business across the CEEMEA Region.   He began his career in 1978 as a Correspondent Banking Relationship Manager at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Bank in New York, and has served in a number of product and sales roles at both Chemical Bank and Chase Manhattan Bank.


Andrew Dunn

Andrew Dunn was a co-founder of Broca Networks, a Cambridge startup company providing innovative speech recognition services to dot.com companies in the UK. He headed the software development team, inspiring engineers to develop a novel framework for constructing speech recognition services and delivering solutions for notable customers like Lastminute.com.

Before that Andrew ran a software consulting company working with customers such as the New York Stock Exchange, Rover Cars, Royal Mail and SRI Consulting.

Most recently, Andrew managed the low level engineering team for XenServer, - the market leading server virtualization engine that powers the world's largest computing clouds. He is currently the Head of Engineering at Metail, another Cambridge startup who develop a virtual fitting room that allows users to create an online version of themselves that matches their real measurements to get size and fitting advice when buying clothes online. This involves a combination of front end web development, 3D visualization, and big data analysis.


James Cork
Vice President, Business Development & Strategy, BNY Mellon Investment

James Cork is a Vice President of business strategy for BNY Mellon’s Investment Management businesses. Responsible for planning and executing initiatives sponsored by both the BNY Mellon Executive Committee and the Investment Management businesses.  

Before joining BNY Mellon in January 2014, Mr Cork spent three years working in Private Equity and Corporate Finance at a private boutique. A former officer in the British Army, Mr Cork has also worked in Corporate Finance and Leveraged Finance at NM Rothschild & Sons and in the strategy team at BAE Systems.  
 
Mr Cork was awarded a Master of Business Administration from London Business School, a Master of Arts in economics from the University of Cambridge and is a chartered accountant. He is also an alumnus of Cambridge Judge Business School as he completed The Management Studies Tripos (MST) back in 2001/2.

He is currently involved in three financial technology companies through investments made by his family and he also has experience of cryptography through his military experience.
