We’ll help you discover how you can do it:  Join us on the 10 to the 12 June at the University of Exeter Innovation Centre for our Startup Weekend.

There will be loads of ideas, great prizes (the best pitch on Friday wins an iPod), teams to work on the best ideas over the weekend, backed up by expert facilitators and mentors, and fueled by great food.  At Startup Weekend you can work on any type of opportunity for business – charitable or profit, high tech to low techIf you are passionate about improving the quality of life and environment in our city, then Exeter City Futures is sponsoring a special track in this weekend to help develop solutions that reduces our energy consumption for a cleaner, greener city.

Jim Hill
Co Founder / CEO at Immersify

With nearly 20 years working on the Internet I have picked up a few skills as both founder, designer, developer and consultant. Now focussing on building multiple online platforms.Jim is the CEO and Co-founder of Immersify a new Startup Based in Devon.  He and his partner Louis are  Building and designing their own innovative and original "sponsor based" fundraising platform.  

Laurence Oakes-Ash

Responsible for Business Development and Investment, Laurence trained in mathematics and accountancy prior to 12 invaluable years in investment banking. Working out of London and New York, Laurence traded across European equities markets as head of Autos, Industrials, Tech, Telcos and Media. Now he brings to Andromeda’s senior team his exceptional investment strategy, analysis, business, financial and project management skills.

Richard is Senior Investment Analyst for Crowdcube, which provides a platform for entrepreneurs of start-ups and growing businesses to connect with potential investors.

Dedicated to helping UK-based entrepreneurs raise finance to start or grow their business, Crowdcube is the world’s first crowdfunding website that gives investors real equity in the companies they fund. Crowdcube also enables debt finance for more established businesses via mini-bonds. Anna Russell

Anna has worked across sectors leading organisational change and innovation - with intentions always focused on creating the best journey and experience for customers or service users. As a STEM Ambassador for the South West region Anna enjoys listening to and inspiring creative minds of young people…many an idea for business innovation has been born from the enthusiastic chatter of a teenager with a passion! Always on the lookout for new ways to disrupt the norm in business, currently working in the technology sector, Anna leads teams to support a wide variety of Businesses in the Southwest - connecting the right technology with people can lead to wonderful things!

Ralph Hudson

“Ralph Hudson is the Head of Energy at Exeter City Futures and leads the engineering initiative to develop clean energy solutions for the greatest possible benefit across Exeter.  With a background in automation across hydro-electric and marine industries, he helped establish a systems engineering capability within the Transport Systems Catapult and has recently led the analysis of future power system architectures on behalf of the Energy Systems Catapult.  He has deep expertise in systems thinking and continues to take a personal interest in a wide range of sustainability initiatives.  

Jonathan Melruish-Sprague
Founding Partner Account Director

Jonathan is a co-founder of Koncept, a venture technology company which works with technology startups to develop their ideas into successful businesses. Their portfolio currently includes 16 startups who are working with LifeFitness, FitBit, the Deltic group and Vodka Revolutions to name a few.

Andrew Davies
Co-Founder Idio Ltd

Andrew is a co-founder of idio, a predictive marketing platform that turns content into intelligence for clients such as JP Morgan, OpenText, and Unicef, with offices in London and New York. He previously co-founded a digital agency that built high-scale social media analytics systems for clients including O2, ITV and Number 10, and worked for Deloitte Consulting in their TMT division. Stewart Noakes

Stewart established Exeter Management Consulting Limited (EMCL) after completing the transaction that saw his first entrepreneurial start-up become part of the QualiTest Group in 2012.

Through EMCL Stewart has continued his journey with start-ups and entrepreneurial endeavour as a Non Executive Director, Mentor, Coach and Angel Investor. Part of this includes links with Level39 in canary Wharf and also Techhub London.


Chris Cramphorn

Chris has a diverse background as an academic, consultant, entrepreneur and venture capital advisor.  He has mentored several start-ups and high growth firms in commercialising new technologies and has advised organisations in areas including digital services, digital government, FMCG, cleantech and carbon neutral energy. He also advises universities and other educational institutions on improving learning utilising new technologies, entrepreneurial education, and real world problem approaches to expertise and innovation development.  A sustainability advocate, Chris is the co-founder of Single Planet Solutions, a boutique consultancy aimed at improving sustainable and responsible business.

Georgie Hazell

Georgie is Head of Talent at London-based startup studio The Eleven. Following a degree in International Politics and Anthropology at Exeter, Georgie worked internationally (from Geneva to Boston) and now focuses on scaling company culture, through responsibilities in hiring, team support and learning & development across the four businesses within The Eleven. She has a background in digital media and marketing, having worked as an Account Manager for leading social media agency BORN SOCIAL, managing UK operations and growth for Her Campus Media, and working with Digital Shoreditch on the Million Pound Startup competition. She recently co-founded the 'ELEVATE: Women in the Digital World' networking group.
