From idea to company in 54 hours!

Been working on that business idea for the next great thing? Here’s your opportunity to transform your ideas into action in 54 hours. Find the right people with complementary skills & the passion to build a product in one weekend. Design the business, conduct user tests, receive coaching from experienced designers & industry professionals and win prizes that will help take your idea to the next level!
  • Friday night: 60-second pitches that result in the formation of small teams around the best, most viable business concepts. All attendees vote. We hope you’ll pitch, but definitely not required!
  • Saturday and Sunday: Work days! Teams focus on user research, customer development, validating their ideas and building prototypes with the help of experienced coaches from the entrepreneurial world. You’re welcome to stay and work as long as the venue will allow!
  • Sunday afternoon: Teams demo their products and receive valuable feedback from a panel of expert judges.  Winning teams take home a grab bag of great tools to help launch their company!

Friday June 2nd

Arrive at the venue and get checked in. Get to know fellow participants, coaches, etc.

Review agenda for the weekend and introduce speakers, coaches, and community leaders

Jonathan David Lewis

The author of "Brand vs. Wild: Building Resilient Brands for Harsh Business Environments", Jonathan David Lewis is an engaging and authoritative speaker on shaping a brand that can survive—and thrive—in today’s tough, uncertain world.

Agnes Noonan
President

Prior to joining WESST in 1991, Agnes served as a small business consultant in the United States Peace Corp in Costa Rica and as the Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt. She holds a BA in Political Science from Berea College and a MA in International Affairs from The George Washington University. She has received numerous honors: Top-Performing CEO (2009), Junior Achievement’s New Mexico Business Hall of Fame, (2005); Women of Influence (2005); and New Mexico’s Small Business Advocate of the Year, United Stated Small Business Administration, (1995). Agnes is particularly passionate about personal and business financial literacy. She loves to read and fantasizes about becoming a beach bum.


Trish Lopez
Founder / CEO

Lopez is a veteran film industry professional whose background includes working with executives in Hollywood, managing production teams on the ground and serving elected leaders. As of 2015, she is also the founder and CEO of Teeniors℠, a brand new startup that connects tech-savvy teens with seniors through one-on-one, personal coaching. In less than a year since it's inception, Teeniors has completed the ABQid business accelerator, worked with hundreds of seniors and millennials across Albuquerque, and received multiple new business awards while earning exceptional media coverage. A native New Mexican, global traveler and graduate of UNM, Lopez is deeply involved in social profit causes, having led and served on the board of numerous national and local organizations. Her primary interest is bringing people together of different worlds to inspire change in our communities.


Hank Andrews
Managing Director

Henry L. (Hank) Andrews, Jr., is an accomplished aerospace and aviation senior executive with extensive operations, logistics, supply chain, and P&L experience. Hank is a founding member and the Managing Director of Verus Research (formerly XL Scientific, LLC), where he leads planning and execution in human resources, benefits, finance, banking, legal support, security, facilities, information technology, and other matters critical to providing customers the research services they require. In the community, Hank is an appointed member of the Bernalillo County Detention Facilities Oversight Advisory Board, serves on the board of directors of the non-profit New Mexico Veterans Integration Centers, and is active in the ABQid and Verge Fund business start-up accelerators.A graduate of Syracuse University, Hank also holds graduate degrees from Louisiana Tech University and the National Defense University and has attended executive education at Duke University, Emory University, Northwestern University, and the Center for Creative Leadership. He is co-author and co-editor of the book Security in Korea: War, Stalemate and Negotiation, and has also been published in Airpower Journal.

Nick Williams
Startup Experience, Catalyst Week, Programming

Nick Williams is the lead developer for local startup, SunPort, and the Executive Director of Catalyst Week.  He draws on his background in managerial psychology from Sloan MIT and 7 years managing large-scale software projects in the verdant cubicle farms of the east coast. He has won startup weekend and similar events around the country by relying on clear business modeling, adaptive strategy, and decisive execution.

Marion Desmazières
Tech Business Developer, Amazon Alexa

Marion is a tech business developer based in Seattle, WA. She runs developer education partnerships for Alexa, the voice service powering Amazon's popular Echo devices. Before joining Amazon two years ago, Marion coordinated Global Startup Battle in 2012 and managed partner relations for Startup Weekend HQ in Seattle. She holds a Master's in Business Management from EDHEC Business School and an MBA in Technology Commercialization from the University of Alberta. A Startup Weekend veteran, Marion has facilitated 20+ events in France, Canada, the US, Algeria and Morocco.
