Stephen Baker
CEO at Attivio

Stephen is the Chief Executive Officer for Attivio, where he previously served as COO. With over fifteen years of experience as a top executive within enterprise software, Stephen has a proven ability to build and lead high performing organizations. Prior to Attivio, Stephen spent nearly six years as the President and Chief Revenue Officer for RAMP Holdings (formerly EveryZing) and, previously, served as the CEO of RB Search (a Reed Elsevier company). Earlier in his career, Stephen spent almost eight years at Fast Search & Transfer, where he served as General Manager. Stephen holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania – The Wharton School as well as a BS in Music and Marketing from Hofstra University.

Jennifer Jordan
Venture Capitalist and Board Member

As an early stage investor I am passionate about teams, opportunities, and differentiation of technology, strategy or model. Throughout my 20 years in technology and financial services, I have worked on everything from early internet search solutions and web analytics to robotics and software used to design semiconductors. My most recent investments leverage the power of data and automation to transform industries and provide clear business advantage. They span synthetic biology (Ginkgo Bioworks), data transparency (ClearGov), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for sales optimization (, and industrial IOT for advanced manufacturing (MachineMetrics).

Marc Theerman
Director of Partner Solutions at Google entrepreneur, investor, and senior operating executive since 1999

Mobile technology has been my life as an entrepreneur, investor, and senior operating executive since 1999. 

Today I manage two teams at Google: A strategy team that helps to define solutions for our largest mobile app partnerships, and a team that manages our startup and VC relationships around the world. 

Most recently, I was the EVP Strategy at publicly traded Millennial Media, and part of Michael Barrett's senior executive team. In this role, I was responsible for Corporate Development, Business Development and Strategic Alliances. In 2014, I led the acquisition of Nexage, a leading mobile RTB exchange, and in 2015 I was part of the deal team that sold Millennial Media to AOL & Verizon.

In the past, I ran the mobile business unit of Admeld, before we sold the company to Google. At Admeld, I was a member of executive team that conceptualized the world’s first mobile RTB auction. During my first time at Google, I managed the mobile aspects of the North American publisher sales organization. 

In 2008, I incubated a mobile analytics and media buying dashboard concept at Polaris Ventures. Before the company ever hit the light of day, it was rolled into Smaato Inc. At Smaato I managed the relationships with all third party demand sources. 

I entered the mobile industry by co-founding two Boston mobile firms: YellowPepper (sold to Touch Applications) and Everypoint (funded with $14 million by Fairhaven, Venrock, and Prism). 

On a personal level, I build and test robots with my younger daughter, analyze and marvel over antique sports cars, and ponder over what might be next for our ecosystem. 

Howie Hecht
Co-Founder & Principal at Appanite, Inc., and Angel Investor

Howie is an MIT/Sloan trained entrepreneurial start-up executive, advisor, and angel investor with 21+ years of product management, business development, marketing and consulting experience successfully launching new and improving existing businesses, products and services. 
Based in the Boston area, Howie is one of 3 principals and co-founders at Appanite, Inc., creators of AdsSciences. AdsSciences is a digital advertising optimization service integrated with the Facebook and Instagram ad platforms and typically yields 2x-10x more results than other campaigns (and sometimes as much as 30x-50x). It achieves this by treating the campaigns as scientific experiments and utilizing the proprietary algorithms, methodologies, and tools developed in-house. AdsSciences is ~3 years in the making and works for both B2B and B2C marketing, across every vertical, and has tens of millions of dollars of ad spend under management.
Howie is passionate about solving problems and supporting other entrepreneurs and does so by both advising them as well as by backing promising founders with seed-level angel investments. After a few years of management consulting and software development, Howie entered the startup scene by becoming one of the first product managers at Akamai Technologies, and later went on to head product, engineering, marketing, and business development at a variety of startups in many different verticals including content delivery, networking, data storage, IT security, compliance, financial services, mobile, and most recently, ad-tech. Howie earned his undergraduate degree from MIT's Sloan School of Management combined with extensive studies in computer science, psychology, and cognitive science. When he's not working on new ventures, Howie enjoys boating, photography, and volunteering and mentoring with various organizations -- including of course, Startup Weekend!

Shirin Shahin
Director of Product Marketing at Brightcove for their Digital Marketing Business Unit

Shirin is the Director of Product Marketing at Brightcove for their Digital Marketing Business Unit. Shirin has experience creating and executing marketing programs for both small businesses and enterprise companies, with a focus on B2B marketing. She has a passion for creative ideas and solutions that enable marketers to seamlessly execute various digital marketing campaigns across different media and channels.

Adrian Mendoza
Investor, entrepreneur, and author

Adrian Mendoza is an experienced entrepreneur, investor, and operator. He has lead both creative and technology teams during his 20 years of experience. In 2009 he co-founded Marlin Mobile, a startup in the Mobile performance testing space, that raised 3 million in venture funding. In 2014, he pivoted that company to co-found Apptient - focusing on the mobile ad tech space. He has been a startup CTO since 2009 and has built numerous technology teams, SaaS products, and product pipelines. In 2016, he founded Mendoza Ventures, an investor syndicate of experienced entrepreneurs that invests and advices startups and founders in AI, cyber security, fintech, and mobile .

Adrian has also worked with large brands to design their experience for desktop, mobile, and wearable platforms. He has worked with such brands as Tropicana, Denver International Airport, T.Rowe Price, Fidelity, TIAA, Manulife and Forrester. He has worked with ad agencies like Mullen, Sapient, and Razorfish to service and advise their customers.

He is the author of "Mobile User Experience", a book on mobile user experience published by Elsevier in 2013, adapted industry wide as the standard for mobile user experience education, and of the video series “CSS for designers” published by O’Reilly on 2015. 

Adrian earned his Bachelors from the University of Southern California and his Masters from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Kit Pang
Founder of BostonSpeaks, TEDx, INBOUND and Keynote Speaker on Communication

Kit Pang is a Communication Expert, TEDx Speaker Coach, TEDxInbound and Keynote speaker, the host of the BostonSpeaksSeries and the founder of BostonSpeaks. He is on a mission to help individuals become exceptional speakers and communicators. Kit's seminars and talks have been credited as super fun, engaging, soul-searching and insightful.

Corbin Pon
Cofounder of Thesis

 is a software developer and a graduate from the Computer Science program at Georgia Tech. He's been running a company in the blockchain space for over 4 years that has products ranging from consumer payments to fundamental infrastructure. As a serial entrepreneur, he has been through the full gamut of the startup experience, with time spent building apps with friends in school, participating in accelerators, bringing in those first exciting customers, and pitching in front of high profile venture capitalists. Most of all, he enjoys building products that solve real problems for real people, and he hopes that some of that experience can be used to help others. 

Samuel Powel
Creative Technical Consultant at Google

Sam helps brands tell creative stories on Google platforms around the world. He consults on strategy, creative approaches, code setup and technical possibilities. Prior to Google, he ran a creative agency and two early stage startups in New York, NY. Currently based in Los Angeles, he surfs and hikes in his free time as well as leads mentoring initiatives out of Google's Venice office.

Sam Silver
Founder of Same But Different | Data Wonk | Design Pedant

As an MBA at the University of Oxford, Sam competed in Tata Idea Idol – Europe’s largest business pitch competition – where he was a semi-finalist, and won a design thinking competition that resulted in engagements with an innovation consultancy and its clients in London. He was a product manager for Hailo – a ride-hailing competitor of Uber in Europe – before its acquisition by Daimler. Back in Boston, he joined local edtech accelerator LearnLaunch, acting as a mentor and operational aide. Currently, Sam is bootstrapping his own AI company, advising startups in his network, and  freelancing everything from  graphic design to M&A  advisory for large private equity firms. As a designer he’s really OCD – he needs all the coordinates for assets on an artboard to be divisible by 5.

Sophia Lin

Sophia Lin is an entrepreneur with over ten years of experience in both banking and technology. She is currently the Co-Founder of Keel, a fintech startup that offers end-to-end financial data solutions. Sophia also serves as the EIR at UMass Boston and the startup mentor at Boston University. Prior to her startup journey, Sophia was the Chief Investment Officer at Steinbock Financial Group, where she led the investment activities in agriculture and beverage sectors. Sophia Lin received an MBA from MIT and a BA from National Taiwan University. She has worked across North America, Asia, Europe and Australia. A tech enthusiast and an entrepreneur at heart, Sophia is passionate about bringing technology that drives innovation in the traditionally-underserved segments.

Rana Abdelhamid
Brand Marketer at Google

Rana Abdelhamid is an internationally acclaimed human rights organizer, martial artist and social entrepreneur focused on the empowerment of marginalized communities. She is the founder and CEO of MALIKAH, a global self-defense and empowerment training organization that trains young Muslim women to confront gender based and anti-Muslim violence. In 2017 MALIKAH held the National Muslim Women's Summit at Harvard University, training 50 Muslim American women in leadership and organizing. Over the past seven years, MALIKAH has engaged thousands of participants through its self-defense programs across the US and Europe. Abdelhamid is also the Founder of Hijabis of NY, an online platform that highlights the stories of hijabi women. Rana Abdelhamid is an anti-hate crime martial artist and self defense instructor with a 1st Degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate certified under the New York State Black Belt Association. She has been practicing martial arts for the past 12 years and has taught for over 8 years globally.

Abdelhamid is also a longtime activist with Amnesty International USA and currently serves as the youngest member of their National Executive Board of Directors. Her work has been featured in the Huffington Post,,, Aljazeera, BBC, CBS and PBS. Abdelhamid is a recipient of the UNAUSA Leo Nevas International Human Rights Youth Award, a New York City Council Proclamation, the Harry S. Truman Scholarship and the Running Start Rising Political Star Award and has been invited as a speaker at the Apollo Theater, Harvard University, Rutgers University and the United Nations, among many other prestigious institutions. She is a recent graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government where she received a Masters in Public Policy with a focus on social and urban policy. She currently works as a brand marketer at Google.
