Creatively Solve Problems in Education

About Project ReinventED

Project ReinventED (November 13th - 14th, 2015) is a dedicated time and space for working on projects (entrepreneurial projects, education projects, passion projects, etc.), spearheaded by ReinventED Lab. Open to all, Project ReinventED is a simple convening of people passionate about education, entrepreneurship, and/or innovation to work on their projects. Pitch an idea on Friday night or join a team, and work on a project throughout the day Saturday. We'll provide food and swag in exchange for your passion and time!  We're making this happen in collaboration with Albemarle County Public Schools, Social Entrepreneurship at UVA in the Batten School of Public Policy, Youth and Social Innovation in the Curry School of Education, the Education Club at the Darden School of Business, Conversion Factor, HackCville, Works in Progress, and more.

Throughout the day Saturday, participants will be tasked with making something: a startup business model, a policy draft, a physical prototype, a course syllabus, a website, a campaign strategy, etc. Projects do not have to be startups nor explicitly educational; all ideas are welcome.

The program will conclude Saturday evening with dinner, project presentations, feedback, and reflection. In lieu of a competition, participants will receive crowd feedback on their ideas and pitch for connections, further coaching, and post-event support.

This program is designed to bring together as many different people (educators, entrepreneurs, students, makers, designers, and more) as possible, and all are welcome!

*Individuals participating in TEDx or the E-Cup Concept Competition on Friday are still encouraged to come Saturday to work on ideas!

Student and Entrepreneur, University of Virginia

Keaton fights to promote student-led and passion-based education innovation at Student Voice. In the spring of 2014, Keaton led a team of students to the final round of interviews for the Future of School Challenge, where the team designed an alternative education model to reinvent learning as a radically student-centered, holistic, real-world relevant process. Keaton's work was profiled by the Cavalier Daily.

A second year student at the University of Virginia, Keaton is pursuing a broad range of interests, from design thinking to entrepreneurship to literature and more. He savors life most when he looks out at the stars from his family's small cabin, his personal Walden, in rural Tennessee.
