Joel Splan
CEO at PinPoint Healthcare

Joel brings over 15 years of healthcare technology experience and leadership to PinpointCare. As the head of Galen Healthcare Solutions he has been responsible for the overall strategy, organizational framework and operational goals for the company. Galen Healthcare Solutions is a 100-person professional and technical services organization serving healthcare clients nationwide in their efforts to apply technology to patient care. With offices in Chicago, Boston, and Burlington, Galen has recently been named a 100 Best Places to Work by Modern Healthcare and received a top ranking by KLAS.Joel began his career as an EMR consultant at Cerner. After 3 years as a Cerner consultant he joined Northwestern Memorial Healthcare in Chicago. Joel started at Northwestern as an Application Analyst in 2002. He held a variety positions across a range of the organization’s technical services departments over his 10-year stay at Northwestern Memorial. By 2012, Joel held Director and Senior Leadership roles in application management, EMR implementations, process improvement, data center and service desk operations, technology and infrastructure management, IT security and IT architecture.Joel is very active in the healthcare IT community and has served in multiple HIMSS roles, including President of the Greater Chicago Chapter of HIMSS. Joel lives in Chicago with his wife and two children.

Ashik Desai
EVP Business Growth & Analytics at Context Media Health

Ashik Desai is the Executive Vice President of Business Growth & Analytics at
ContextMedia, a company that owns and operates a suite of digital healthcare engineering high levels of patient engagement through technological innovation. The company impacts 121+ million annual patient visits at over 8000+ hospitals and health systems across all 50 states. At ContextMedia, Ashik leads the company's many revenue related growth initiatives with a strong focus on measured, data-supported execution and success.

Prior to joining the Executive Team at ContextMedia, Ashik attended Northwestern University where he completed the Honors Program in Medical Education at the Fienberg School of Medicine and earned a Finance Certificate from the Kellogg School of Management. While there, he served as the Vice-President of the Institute for Student Business Education, Northwestern’s largest undergraduate business organization. He now sits on the organization’s Board of Directors. Ashik has been published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery for his research in the medical device space and has supported the efforts of ventures into the Urgent Care marketplace for Shore Capital Partners, a Chicago based, health-care private equity firm.


Dima Elissa
Founder

Dima Elissa is CEO and founder of VisMed-3D, a medical 3D printing company. It creates anatomical replicas to assist surgeons with complex procedures, and other medical models and tools. She founded the Evanston-based company in hopes of creating a better pair of custom-made shoes for her business partner, who has spina bifida.Today, their company prototypes forceps for eye surgeons, creates lifelike models of a patient’s spinal column for medical students, and converts pre-surgery MRI scans into 3D models of soft tissue to help surgeons find weak spots that might be undetectable on a flat screen.“Every day we’re learning something,” Elissa told Blue Sky. “We’re not linear thinkers.”She is also president and CEO of tech consulting firm Visual Media, LTD and teaches entrepreneurship at the Associated Colleges of the Midwest in Chicago. She serves on the boards of Ms. Tech, Women in Bio, World Business Chicago and is on the STEM steering committee for the Aparecio Foundation, which provides mentoring to high-achieving, low-income female high school students.

Shruti Mehta Cruz
VP, Product Management at PinpointCare

Shruti has over 10 years of experience in healthcare strategy and operations. She currently is Vice President of Product Management at PinpointCare, a Chicago-based startup developing software applications that enable healthcare providers to create and coordinate care plans and engage patients in the management of their health. Prior to joining PinpointCare, she spent 6 years at Northwestern Medicine leading large-scale programs to respond to healthcare reform, deliver coordinated patient experiences, and improve clinical and financial operations. Most notably, Shruti was responsible for developing Northwestern Medicine's Care Coordination Strategy and Roadmap, including the launch of a novel, cost-effective primary care clinic model that has successfully prevented re-hospitalizations and empowered hundreds of low-income, medically complex patients to improve their health and livelihood. Shruti began her career as a management consultant at Sg2 and Deloitte Consulting, serving large hospital systems and health insurance companies in the areas of patient access, service line growth and mergers & acquisitions. She also has experience leading healthcare organizations through user-driven research and design methods to create new product and service offerings. Additionally, Shruti volunteers her time to support marketing and communications at Page Vault, an 1871-based startup that enables highly secure snapshots of web pages to be captured and stored for use as evidence in US courts. She earned her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University.

Kyle Henry
CMO at Tide Spin

Kyle has worked with startups as an operator, investor and adviser over the past 5 years.  His passion for growing early stage companies has allowed him roles in brand strategy, strategic partnerships, business development, financial modeling and fundraising.  His teams have raised over $10M in funding across several verticals, including ag/food, tech and social impact.   Last August, he was sponsored by Up Global to travel and attend Startup Weekend Sertao in Brazil.
Kyle is currently leading marketing and strategy at Tide Spin, a delivery service launching out of 1871 in Chicago powered by P&G/Tide. 


Bobby Thompson
Co-Founder at Uhray

Bobby’s background is primarily rooted in software development, systems architecture, and data science. He co-founded Uhray to focus on helping entrepreneurs quickly build and test their creative software ideas. Bobby is passionate about testing new ideas and helping entrepreneurs see their ideas in action.


Loana Baes
CEO at Molecures

Loana is a Corporate Executive with 14 years of cross functional leadership experience across Business Development, Marketing, Sales, and Corporate Strategy. Having had industry experience in Healthcare and Financial Services in start-up (moleCures) to Fortune 500 companies (Baxter, Johnson & Johnson), Loana has held current and previous roles such as Founder/CEO, Chief Marketing Officer, Director, and Group Manager managing portfolios up to $400M. Her expertise includes managing a P&L, growing market share in mature businesses, driving corporate-wide initiatives, new product development, launching/bringing products to market (US), and scaling growth businesses.

Loana is actively involved in industry and community organizations. Loana previously served as the Co-Chair of Corporate Relations/New Sponsorships with the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association, a Corporate Member of the Chicago Council of Global Affairs, and a Corporate Member of the Executives' Club of Chicago. She earned a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Illinois- Champaign/Urbana in Business Administration & Management Information Systems, and a MBA at University of Chicago - Booth School of Business.


Donovan Morrison
CEO at Luna Lights

Donovan is a graduate of Northwestern University, earning a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Psychology. Originally hailing from Minnesota, Donovan has always striven to improve the lives of others through both service and design. From working with several charitable organizations such as Cheerful Givers to assisting students as a private tutor, he is always attempting to make a positive impact on the community at large. While at Northwestern, he worked on several design projects including improving a play field at a local school, constructing a meal-time apparatus for a girl with arthrogryposis, outlining an app for the Northwestern service SafeRide, and creating a muscle stimulator for infants in Nigeria born with imperforate anus. Through innovation and social change, Donovan hopes to one day promote a more accessible environment for all people.


Joe Martin
Founder

Joe Martin has over 15 years in web design and development, with a Bachelor’s degree in Interactive Media Design from the Art Institute. He focuses his 9 person creative agency on the utilization of design and user experience to construct streamlined user interfaces for companies of all sizes. Previous experience at companies like Cars.com and Chicago tech-mogul, Fieldglass, have paved the way for his own company's work with clients such as McDonald's, Anheuser-Busch, and Microsoft.


JIm Interlandi
Founder at Virtual General Counsel

Jim Interlandi is an experienced business and transactional attorney, and the founder of Virtual General Counsel -- a business law boutique focused on providing legal services for business goals. Former GC for an international telecommunications provider, Chief Operating Officer and GC for an Internet publisher, and a former member of several prestigious law firms, Jim represents entrepreneurial businesses as their outside general counsel. Jim's unique approach to client representation is based on gaining a deep understanding of his clients and their businesses, to maximize value from investment in legal services and alignment with overall business objectives. Jim has represented hundreds of startups and brought many through their entire life-cycle, from founding to exit. Jim also teaches contract writing and negotiation at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, and Privacy and Security of Corporate Information at Loyola Law School.


Patricia Aguilar
Managing Partner at Gameplan Creative

Pat is an award winning production manager from Chicago with extensive experience in the advertising and production industries. She has worked for a variety of Fortune 500 companies in Chicago and New York for more than 20 years and has worked with a broad range of notable clients. Pat is a recipient of the National North American Gold Ink Award and the Association of Graphic Communication 59th & 60th Annual Certificate of Achievement awards. She is a graduate from Roosevelt University with a BA degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. As the Managing Partner at Gameplan Creative, Pat brings her advertising agency and corporate career expertise to clients with passion, integrity, high end quality standards and a desire to deliver excellence with every brand--every time.


Michael Woyan
Social entrepreneur, collaborator, brand curator and strategic enterprise architect

Michael Woyan has over twenty-five years of entrepreneurial and strategic experience with concentrations in social enterprise, finance, banking, hospitality, real estate, technology, marketing, branding, project management, business plan and presentation development.  A creative problem solver, he especially enjoys collaborating with entrepreneurs helping them translate their vision to execution and facilitating successful outcomes.


Michael Dean
Biologics Specialist

Michael is a biologics specialist at American Medical Management, a Chicagoland distributor for a number of clinical orthopedic medical device products. He engages in direct sales as well as biologics sales and clinical support for his team and physician partners throughout the Chicago area. In addition, Michael is assisting his firm in launching a sales consulting service to innovative medical device manufacturers and distributorships nationwide. He received his BS in Science Business in 2010 and his MS in Engineering, Science, and Technology Entrepreneurship (ESTEEM) in 2011 both from the University of Notre Dame.  


Tim Fessenden
PhD Candidate, University of Chicago

Tim is a graduate researcher earning his PhD in Cancer Biology at the University of Chicago. His work tackles the complexity of cancer through collaboration across disciplines and improved integration of basic and clinical research. Tim's project marries biophysics and cancer biology, using novel 3D imaging techniques to ask how tissues are organized mechanically and how this goes awry during tumor progression. Outside the lab, Tim engages frequently with the public, from first graders to major philanthropists, in order to communicate the value and impact of scientific research.


Trevor Clarke
Principal at The Law Offices of Trevor J. Clarke

Trevor is the principal of The Law Office of Trevor J. Clarke, a practice that focuses on meeting the needs of small businesses and nonprofit organizations. Trevor provides counsel and transactional services to individuals and companies that make a positive impact on the Chicagoland community. Like the clients he serves, Trevor seeks to make a positive impact on the community. As a lawyer, he provides pro-bono representation to borrowers involved in mortgage foreclosure actions, gives advice to low income callers through the CARPLS legal hotline, and counsels clients at The Law Project – Chicago’s preeminent transactional legal aid organization. As a member of the community, he is an active volunteer at The Old Town School of Folk Music, Chicago Public Radio, the Chicago Aikido Club, Organizing Neighborhoods for Equality: Northside, and Working Bikes, where he serves as the Corporate Secretary and General Counsel. He earned his J.D. summa cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the DePaul College of Law. 


Kirk Lashley
Co-Founder, CTO of WeDeliver

Kirk is  the Chief Technologist and Co-Founder of WeDeliver, providing on-demand delivery platform for unique, local businesses. His background is in software engineering, with well over 16 years professional software development experience. Kirk is experienced in the all aspects of the software development life-cycle, and has successfully managed over 60 web application projects since the turn of the century. He is constantly looking for applications of technology to address civic problems.

Since 2012,he has been a technical adviser to over five different digital startups in Chicago. He is also a startup and entrepreneurship protagonist for the Caribbean and has orgranized Startup Weekend Trinidad & Tobago, and Chicago.
