Start to formalize teams and take an inventory of skills. Be honest, and direct about what resources and skills are needed for the weekend. You may stay and work as late as the venue will allow

Scott Tibbitts
CEO @ Katasi Inc.

Scott is a nationally recognized speaker and space entrepreneur who inspires his audiences by sharing his story of building a space company from scratch.Scott created Starsys Research Corporation after he brought NASA an invention made of hardware store parts and suggested it be used on spacecraft. Starsys grew to become the small space company to work for and with, building devices for more than 350 spacecraft, including the motor that recently lowered the NASA rover Curiosity to the Martian surface. By evangelizing Fun, Family and Excellence, Starsys created a legendary corporate culture that was responsible for more than 4000 devices flown in space with an unprecedented 100% success rate.Scott went on to found eSpace: The Center of Space Entrepreneurship, the only congressionally funded not-for-profit organization that helps emerging space entrepreneurs realize their dreams.Scott is now deep in his next venture, deploying the worlds first Cloud-based distracted driving solution, in partnership with three US mobile phone providers.

Susan Ruhl

Susan is a founding partner of ICC Inc., and she is responsible for leading operations, finance and strategy. With more than two decades of business experience, Susan has developed a superpower for ending “business bloat” (inefficiencies, cross-purposes and miscommunication) and retooling companies into sleeker, smoother, more strategically focused organizations.After graduating from Marquette University with a degree in finance, Susan jump-started her career working for The Chicago-Tribune and Chiquita Brands. Entrepreneurial by nature, Susan also owned her own successful business working with clients that included Honey Baked Ham, Omni Netherland Plaza, the NFL, Cincinnati Bengals and Museum Works Galleries. Ask her to quote Monty Python and the Holy Grail to get taste of her cheeky sense of humor.


Anthony Franco
Founder and CEO

Along with founding 7 different successful companies and holding multiple patents, Anthony has held leadership positions in creative direction, feature film post-production, technological architecture, advertising production, enterprise product development, computer aided design, hospitality management, and physical product manufacturing.
Most notably, Anthony founded the large, Denver-based consulting firm, EffectiveUI, the world’s first and leading user experience and digital product development firm. EffectiveUI is responsible for the creation of hundreds of award-winning digital products for many of the world’s most recognizable brands. He is now the CEO and Founder of mcSquares. His companies have won: 74 Technology Awards, 62 Design Awards, 37 Innovation Awards, 35 Marketing Awards, 27 Mobile Awards, and 24 Business Award.

Tanya Ramond
Director of Product Management @ BridgeSat, Inc.

Tanya Ramond is Director of Product Management at BridgeSat Inc., a Denver-based aerospace startup whose mission is to revolutionize global communications via free-space optical networks tailored for the commercial sector.  Previously, she served as CTO of York Space Systems.  In nearly a decade at Ball Aerospace & Technologies, Dr. Ramond was engineering manager for several multi-million-dollar R&D projects working with multidisciplinary teams in developing and testing new remote sensing instrumentation.  Dr. Ramond started her work with lasers with her Doctorate from the University of Colorado Physics Department, and she continued as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Dr. Ramond recently completed her MBA from the University of Denver Daniels School of Business.  She served as a due diligence analyst for Rockies Venture Club, evaluating early stage startup companies for angel investment.  Dr. Ramond recently completed an Executive MBA from the University of Denver, and advises early stage companies on commercialization strategies.

Chris Oltyan

Chris Oltyan is an experienced entrepreneur who has started and sold over seven companies and helped bring over 27 software products to market.  A Certified Scrum Master and Product Owner, he is a strong advocate of agile and lean practices. From titles like the Big Bang Theory and Pokemon Trading Card Game, to massive cloud infrastructure platforms, he has lead teams that have created an incredibly broad set of technologies and demonstrated his mastery of the art of getting shit done.


Grant Wilkinson

Grant Wilkinson is a Denver-based developer and entreprenuer that specializes in apps and websites. Grant is the founder of Defy Marketing, a digital agency that works with large award-winning organizations on strategy, development and execution of their ideas. Many of these companies have been featured on major networks such as Fox News, ABC, USA, CBS and more. Grant is also the founder of the recent Mac application, Fluid Browser, that was #1 overall on the Mac App Store and seen in publications such as Tech Crunch, Cult of Mac, Business Insider and more. Grant hopes to share his passion for creating with the Denver community and is always looking for new ideas to work on.


Matt Hyder
Founder and CEO of Recoup Fitness

Matt Hyder is the founder and CEO of Recoup Fitness and has been starting companies since he was ten years old. Matt's passion for fitness stems from his time as a world class Tae-Kwon-Do athlete and prospective Olympian. Through his years of successes and failures in entrepreneurship, Matt has developed his skills in agile product development, leadership, team building and problem solving.


Eric Stoddard
Director of Marketing at SYNEK

Eric Stoddard is a co-founder of SYNEK, a Kickstarter success story that first made waves in the craft beer industry and is now expanding into wine with the invention of a smart wine dispenser (www.SYNEK.wine). Eric is a Cleveland native, Saint Louis University graduate, ice cream connoisseur, and cultivator of an incredible beard.


Alexander Diner
Designer & Strategist

Alexander is a future-obsessed designer, strategist, and technologist focused on sustainable design systems and truly human user-experiences. He is a Co Founder and Partner at Young and Hungry Design, a friendly, mindful design workshop and consultancy that partners with passionate business-makers.


Michael Hopkins

Michael Hopkins is a graduate of University of Denver with a Bachelors degree from Daniels School of Business in Business Information Technology. He is currently a resident of Frisco and works as the lead developer for Allstate Banners of New York City.Michael has participated in multiple Startup Weekend events including Santa Barbara, San Louis Obispo, Aspen, Denver and Chicago on several winning teams. These efforts building new concepts have offered a wide knowledge bank into the startup world. Michael is a parallel entrepreneur with significant skills in web development, business development, as well as project and team management.


Dylan Bohlender
Consultant/Developer

Dylan Bohlender is currently a consultant/developer with Deloitte Digital in downtown Denver. He graduated from the University of Denver with a BSBA in Management and a BS in Computer Science in 2014, and graduated with an MS in Computer Science in 2015. He specializes in stylish put-downs of bad ideas, and uses his dual business and tech background to understand and communicate effectively with both the technical and business people involved in enterprise-class software projects, negotiating the complex interdependencies that arise between the two worlds. He has worked on several private- and public-sector cloud deployments, several mobile apps for Fortune 500 companies, and programs mobile games on the side as a hobby.


Jeffrey Kimble
Many

Jeff Kimble currently wears about nine hats.  At Deloitte Digital’s studio downtown, he serves as a manager, engagement manager, solution architect, technology strategist, and Resident Insane Person.  On the side, he’s an entrepreneur  and futurist always chasing “the next best thing.”  He has provided strategy to Fortune 500 firms as well as helped transform the face of the public sector.  Jeff has spoken about his Internet of Things (IoT) work at the world’s largest tech conference (Dreamforce) and he and his projects have won numerous awards.


Kraig McGee
Financial Representative

Kraig McGee is a graduate of the University of Denver with a Bachelor of Science in Business in Administration with a concentration in Finance.  He currently is approaching his 3rd year as a Financial Advisor at Northwestern Mutual where, as a business owner, he is rapidly growing his practice helping clients all around the country with holistic financial planning.  Kraig grew up with entrepreneurial parents who inspired him from an early age to build something incredible from the ground up.  He started his first business at the young age of 9 and was a key member and cofounder of two startups during his time at DU, including K&N Storage, which still overs storage solutions for pioneers and other community members.  Currently working on multiple side projects while trying to grow his financial services business, Kraig is always looking to help and inspire others to build the next big thing.

Jace Lieberman

Jace is a junior at DU studying computer science. From Seattle, he is an avid Seahawks fan and moved to Denver for the mountains. When he's not in the classroom, he's likely skiing or doing something outdoors. 
Jace got involved in the startup community in high school, and went on to work at TechStars and Startup Weekend HQ in Seattle. He has been to 16 Startup Weekend events world wide, and has organized Startup Weekend DU for the past 3 years.
