Grow this year. Make Connections, challenge yourself, and grow through the experience of a lifetime.

What is Techstars Startup Weekend?

Techstars Startup Weekend is a global network of passionate leaders and entrepreneurs on a mission to inspire, educate, and empower individuals, teams and communities. Share ideas, form teams, and maybe even launch startups. Startup Weekend Fargo 2019 will continue to be the region's most impactful entrepreneurial event.

This year is our 7th year doing Startup Weekend Fargo.  Some changes to this year from past years include:
  • Cozier - we'll be cozier again this year at The Prairie Den coworking space for the second row in a year vs the last several years at the super-spacious universities.
  • Size - our participant size has varied over the years and this year we are capping it around 50.  This is smaller than some prior years but very similar to what we had the past two years (if you don't count the no-shows - if you are going to register, please show up or let us know!).
  • Theme - we've added a theme this year: Grow.  Pitches will ideally be focused on what growth means to the individual.  The definition of growth and how people interpret it can be many things - it can be personal goals, or new community achievements, or reaching new industry heights, or whatever else your team deems "growth".  We'll do our best to convey this in our messaging but if you have questions, please email
  • Sunday activities - the Sunday presentations will occur at Drekker in Downtown Fargo, and we will also have the post-party right there.

What do you need to bring?

Lots of energy! You'll pitch your own idea or listen to others, then vote on the most interesting ideas and form teams with diverse skill sets. You can come with friends, but you’ll get the full experience if you participate in separate teams. Remember, it’s all about the team.

Your idea should be something you have not previously worked on. The idea you pitch and the problem you set out to solve can span social, educational, financial, environmental, or other issues. Over the course of the weekend you'll be challenged to create your MVP, or minimum viable product, that fits the needs of your target "customer". You'll get feedback, iterate, and likely pivot your approach entirely! Important: You cannot have worked previously on your idea (email us at if you have questions).

Techstars Startup Weekend is a full weekend long experience. Your ticket includes:
  • A bunch of local food & drink over the course of the weekend
  • Benefits and discounts from our global partners
  • Connections with mentors & coaches
  • A new network of developers, designers, and entrepreneurs eager, like you, to change the world.
  • A sweet t-shirt that will be the envy of your neighborhood
  • Beautifully locally-crafted trophies for the top 3 teams.
  • A fun after-party
