Startup Weekend Iowa City: Fashion + Tech + Wearables
Friday, November 18 - 20, 2016
Friday, November 18 - 20, 2016
Event starts at 6:00 pm
John Pappajohn Business Building
Launch a Fashion + Tech venture and participate in Global Fashion Battle as well as Global Startup Weekend!
Participants will be encouraged to look at fashion and design through the prism of the latest technologies and their potential. During the event, mentors will help you to develop business ideas connected with, among others: internet of things, e-commerce and marketplace platforms, wearables, solutions for designers, retailers and stores.
Why Fashion and Technology?
Technology is changing the world and that includes the fashion industry. FashionTech has opened up new possibilities for individuals creating and launching anywhere. An industry that used to be dominated by the few is now increasingly democratized.
Q. Is this program a good fit for me?
A. If you're passionate about innovating within the fashion and retail space, this is for you. Whether or not you work within the industry, your experience, passion, and perspective can lend towards the development of a successful idea. Programmers, marketers, strategists, creative professionals, and all around driven people will come together in this weekend of connections and innovation.
Q. I’m a web developer…what do I have to do with fashion?
A. Anyone can help disrupt an industry, regardless of what their skill set is. If the product is software related, then you are integral to production of the product (think Pinterest, Polyvore, Etsy, Piperlime, ASOS, Gilt, etc.).
Q. I’ve got a fashion idea but I have no idea where to start.
A. We know...this is not a question, but we want to comment on this. Startup Weekend Fashion +Tech is the perfect opportunity to pitch your idea, gather a team and see if you can turn your idea into a business! We’ll give you the tools to get your idea produced in an incredibly short amount of time, test it with your would-be consumers and pitch the business to a panel of judges.
So whoever you may be, and whatever dreams and aspirations you may have, come and take part in a weekend that could change your life!
And even if it doesn't, you can be sure that you will come away from the event with an extremely awesome and memorable experience.

Coaches and Mentors
In 2014, Kyoger officially became HowFactory and is now a Delaware C-Corp based in Cedar Falls, IA. HowFactory is a subscription based web application for managing standard operating procedures, training and work instructions.
At HowFactory.com, or on our mobile app, we make it fast and easy for your people to share what they do. Your people can quickly capture each step of a process and automatically create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for your entire team, and save your company's critical knowledge.
