Startup Weekend is an annual event at Crittenden Middle School to empower young entrepreneurs. In just 54 hours, you and your team of middle schoolers from across the SF Bay Area will listen to each other's ideas, form teams, be coached by educators and industry pros, design your product, code/create a prototype, and pitch your company in front of a panel of judges and audience members.

Thursday January 26th

Coding Workshops
Join us for your choice of coding workshops: Block Coding (for beginners) or Web Application Basics (HTML and CSS) (duration: 2 hours)

Friday January 27th

4:00 pm
Arrive at the venue and get checked in

4:30 pm
Welcome & Introduction
Review agenda for the weekend and introduce speakers, coaches, and mentors.

5:15 pm
How To Pitch

5:30 pm
Dinner and pitch practice.

6:00 pm
Pitches Start

7:00 pm
Vote for the best ideas that were pitched.

7:15 pm
Team Formation
Teams of five to six people are formed around the winning pitches. Each team is assigned a coach.

Andrew Sutherland
Founder of Quizlet

Andrew Sutherland is the founder of Quizlet, an educational software company that makes language and vocabulary learning tools. Andrew started Quizlet while taking a French class in 10th grade at Albany High School. He then went to Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study computer science. After MIT, Andrew moved to San Francisco to work on Quizlet, where he now leads a team of 25 people working to make great learning software for everyone on the planet.
