Startup Weekend NYC - General Theme

Startup Weekend is a global network of passionate leaders and entrepreneurs on a mission to inspire, educate, and empower individuals, teams and communities. Come share ideas, form teams, and launch startups. Here in NYC, its our mission to help spread entrepreneurship to the masses. Through education, we hope to motivate as many people as we can to explore entrepreneurship for themselves. We bring the tools and provide the mentors and coaches to help guide you along your path to launching your own business!

Eat food, share ideas, practice pitches, get to know fellow participants

Welcome
Review agenda for the weekend and introduce coaches, and community leaders


7:30 pm
Pitches Start
Optionally line up to give your pitch


9:00 pm
Voting
Attendees vote for the top pitches


9:15 pm
Form Teams
Teams start forming and discussing ideas


10:00 pm
Begin Work
Start to formalize teams and take an inventory of skills. Be honest, and direct about what resources and skills are needed for the weekend. You may stay and work as late as the venue will allow

Saturday April 18th

David Goldberg
Director, Venture Capital at Corigin Ventures

 David Goldberg is a Director at Corigin Ventures, a NYC-based provider of capital and support to early-stage tech-enabled companies. Corigin Ventures invests in inspirational teams tackling high-growth markets across all sectors including consumer, mobile, real estate tech, and the on-demand economy. Some prior investments include Lending Club, Urban Compass, Zeel, Transfix, and Poshly.  Prior to joining Corigin, David founded and led FreshNeck.com, a men’s accessories collaborative consumption platform, through its exit in 2014.



Murat Aktihanoglu
Managing Director at Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator

Murat is a technologist, entrepreneur, investor and author. He is the co-founder and Managing Director at ERA, an early-stage investment fund and technology accelerator in New York City with a portfolio of 80 and growing companies



Meng He
Chief Product Officer, SocialSign.in

Meng is Chief Product Officer at SocialSign.in, a platform that bridges the gap between your online experience and real world visit. She has led product strategy and design at early and mid-stage startups in e-commerce, social media, travel, security, mobile payments, and dating—one of which appeared on Shark Tank. Recently, Meng was part of a 5-person UX special ops team during the 2014 TED Conference. She graduated as valedictorian from Parsons The New School for Design and hopes to one day have a corgi.



Justin Mitchell
Founding Partner, A# Capital

Justin is a founding partner of #A capital, a fund focused on early stage tech investments.  Previously, he helped found Pave, a company reinventing loans for millennials, and was an early engineer and eventual product engineering manager at Facebook.  Outside of technology, Justin enjoys playing guitar, snowboarding, and college football.

Principal, Brand Foundry Ventures

Sumeet handles sourcing and managing new opportunities at Brand Foundry Ventures, a seed-stage venture capital firm focused on low-tech and high-tech consumer products and devices. He has over 6 years of experience across the startup and private equity industries, formerly running new business strategies at Gist Digital and handling business development and project work at Gotham Consulting Partners. He also assisted in the creation of XRC Labs, a consumer and retail accelerator run by Kurt Salmon and Parsons, as the Program Manager for their inaugural class and was Head of Strategic Partnerships for their second class.

UX Architect

Jimmy Chandler, an independent UX Architect, works with his clients to solve complex problems by designing user-friendly and effective websites and mobile apps. His clients have included Fortune 500 companies, startups, government agencies, and non-profits. Jimmy is available to help teams with UX/UI design, research/validation, and pitch presentations.


Peter Crysdale
Founder/CEO, STRATEGY HACK

Peter is the Founder and CEO of StrategyHack, an organization dedicated to building and championing a community of startup marketers. Never content with traditional norms, Peter brings a wide breadth of experience to bear on the organization, from his role as Director of Programs at Venture For America, to his three years abroad as a Peace Corps volunteer in Burkina Faso.

Chi is the co-lead for the upcoming Startup Weekend - B2B Edition.  Her experience includes retail planning, insurance strategy, and now mobile loyalty for small businesses.  At Perka, she is a connector of information and people.  Chi supports the product team and helps them prioritize product feature buildouts.  She joined the Startup Weekend community a year ago to help inspire other people about the startup world!
