We're looking for passionate business minded entrepreneurs, developers, and designers who want to develop a B2B solution. Come learn the basics of founding & launching a successful B2B startup and start changing the world!

PLEASE NOTE: Only participants working on the Intuit API can bring a working prototype to the event.  All other participants must have an idea that has not been established as an LLC or any development work.  

Intuit Prizes for Startup Weekend NYC B2B edition 
Leverage the power of Intuit's network and solutions in your next startup idea! Up to 3 teams will be eligible to win an iPad mini 3 and a quadcopter for each team member* if you demonstrate how your product can/will integrate with at least one of the Intuit APIs below during the final pitches on Sunday night. Bonus consideration will be given if you have a working demo using the APIs over the weekend. In fact, an Intuit product manager will be giving a lunch and learn presentation on Saturday providing some tips on how to use our APIs and the potential business opportunity. Intuit APIs helps solve for small businesses in various ways:

  • The QuickBooks Online API powers potential ideas such as time tracking, job costing, inventory management, CRM, and other apps integrations to make accounting easier.
  • Businesses can process credit cards and ACH payments with the Quickbooks Payments API to facilitate eCommerce and easily record transactions via QuickBooks Online.
Examples and Ideas
Some potential integration ideas based on popularity on our app store are:
  • E-commerce - solutions which help businesses make/manage sales and get paid.
  • Time Tracking - solutions which help employers manage their employees
  • Reporting/Analytics - solutions which help businesses make sense of their data
  • Financial management - solutions which help businesses reconcile their bank accounts.

Here at Startup Weekend, we know that often times you want to create an app or a website without focusing on coding. We've had great experiences with Bubble ( as a tool for creating full-fledged websites and apps without programming; it's totally free and highly flexible. Our recommendation is to sign up early, and go through the lessons (they only take 10 minutes each) to familiarize yourselves with the tool, and have a much more productive weekend. Jenny Fielding
Managing Director @ Techstars

Jenny Fielding is a Managing Director at Techstars, where she leads the FinTech-focused Barclays Accelerator and the R/GA Accelerator focused on the Internet of Things. 

Prior to joining Techstars, Jenny headed up a corporate venture and digital innovation group at BBC Worldwide where she made strategic investments and led business development deals. 

She has also started several companies, most notably Switch-Mobile, a mobile VoIP company that was acquired in 2008.  She began her career as a lawyer and also spent some time in banking at JP Morgan.

Matt Pavelko
Co-Founder and CEO at Seed Development

Matt Pavelko is CEO and Co-Founder of Seed Development.  With over 10 years of experience in software consulting, Matt has held various roles from developer to development manager to sales account manager. His experience spans implementing governments projects for the Army, Navy and FEMA to inventing an original product and going through the patent process, to managing multi-million dollar global accounts for Fortune 500 clients such as MetLife, Credit Suisse, Charles Schwab, JP Morgan Chase, and Microsoft.
Matt’s technical background coupled with his business aptitude and client service mindset, allows him to take ideas from conception to completion. Matt and Noah started Seed because they wanted to see projects through the whole process from selling in an idea, to seamless execution, to successful delivery.  That’s why Seed’s engineers are not only the best at what they do technically, but are also expert communicators and skilled problem-solvers.  Seed is designed to either complete your project start to finish efficiently or help companies scale when necessary. Matt graduated from Penn State with with a BS in Computer Science.

Eliot Durbin
General Partner at Boldstart Ventures

Eliot Durbin is a General Partner at Boldstart Ventures, an enterprise focused seed stage venture capital firm located in NYC. He has over 9 years experience backing passionate, technically minded, and product focused founders who are building big companies.   His investments include GoInstant (acq. Salesforce), Divide (acq. Google), Blaze (acq. by Akamai), Rapportive (acq. Linkedin), Spinback (acq. Buddy Media), Klout (acq. Lithium), SecurityScorecard, IndieGoGo, and Quizup. Eliot is a graduate of Georgetown with post graduate study at Columbia, he lives downtown New York City. 

Tony Chang
Product Manager at Intuit

Tony is a Product Manager at Intuit where he’s currently focusing on the Quickbooks Online API and accounting platform. He's previously worked on a variety of Intuit products including Mint, GoPayment and Quickbooks Mobile having the opportunity to contribute through software development, design and product management. Tony spent most of his life in Melbourne, Australia before moving to the SF Bay Area four years ago to pursue his tech endeavors. He is an alumni of Monash University and U.C. Berkeley. During his travels, he somehow lost his Australian accent but hopes to find it again one day.

Ashley Hemingway
Director of User Experience - AppNexus

With over a decade of professional design experience, Ashley believes that “happiness is making the things that you wish existed”. She is currently the Director of User Experience at AppNexus, one of New York’s fastest growing companies. Previously, she has designed tablet apps for the pharmaceutical industry, websites and applications for large retail, banking and information technology brands, and packaging for consumer and beauty care products. She has also consulted for several startups, where she loves turning early concepts into established and trusted brands while advocating for customer-centric design principles. Ashley is a graduate of DAAP at the University of Cincinnati. She enjoys sharing her passion for design and business with others, and has served as a mentor for several organizations such as the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship and Girls Who Code. During the few minutes a day she is not online, she can be found indulging in too much television, curiosity and cheese.

Manas Mukherjee
Senior Software Engineer at Intuit

Manas Mukherjee is a Senior Software Engineer with the Intuit Developer Group. He works with internal and external developers to build SaaS application on top of QBO Ecosystem  He also works on building different SaaS integration model and SDKs to consume REST endpoints, exploring different software/hardware based platforms, building different developer’s productivity tools etc. He loves finding ways to use technology to simplify and make lives better.
Prior to Intuit, Manas worked for Goldman Sachs in Bangalore, India. Apart from work he likes traveling, watching cricket, and reading books. 

Priyadarshini Vijayakumar
Senior Developer Relations Engineer and Evangelist with Intuit Developer Group

Priya Vijayakumar is a Senior Developer Relations Engineer and Evangelist with Intuit Developer Group. She works closely with third party developers developing apps for the Intuit marketplace. She specializes in creating tools for the platform to enhance developer on-boarding experience. Prior to her role as developer relations engineer she worked in diverse application development projects for various financial institutions. 

Chalmers Brown
CEO & Founder of Turvation Labs

Chalmers Brown is a Software Engineer and Entrepreneur. He currently CEO & Founder of Turvation Labs. A Startup Development Company that builds scalable prototypes, business models and digital marketing plans for early stage startups. His company is working with a selective group of clients building innovative products in multiple industries including Social, Real Estate, and Sales. During his time studying Pre-Med and Computer Science at Rutgers University, he founded and worked on various projects such as (grew team of 3 to 20+ students and currently self-sustaining business), (raised over $20k and won numerous awards while product was in beta), and (went through the Tumml Accelerator Program in San Fransisco and featured on

Shane is Vice President of IT and Operations at Schrödinger, a New York City based company specializing in computational chemistry software and solutions. Shane has held technical and leadership roles in a variety of organizations from academia and startups to mid-sized and Fortune 50 companies.Shane combines a deep technical background in linux and high performance computing with a passion for building teams and empowering people and organizations. 

Tanner Yager
Head of Sales Operations and Marketing at Pomerol Partners

Tanner is Head of Sales Operations and Marketing at Pomerol Partners, a global business intelligence consultancy. Since starting in 2012, Pomerol Partners has worked with 4 of the top 10 investment banks, providing best in breed advanced analytics through visualization. He previously worked as the portfolio manager for StartUp Health, as well as provided strategic guidance to entrepreneurs on their business models, capitalization, and finance operations. Tanner grew up in Nebraska and got his undergrad degree at the University of Kansas before journeying to Phoenix, London, and Italy, then finally settling in Brooklyn.

Emmanuel Straschnov
Co-founder of Bubble

Emmanuel Straschnov is co-founder of Bubble. Born in Paris, he studied computer science and mathematics at Ecole Polytechnique and received his MBA from Harvard Business School. He is committed to breaking the economic limits of technology and devising solutions that enable innovation and product development without coding software. He has spoken and written extensively about visual programming and the democratization of technology, and worked across Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Eddie cullen
Community Manager of Grand Central Tech

Eddie Cullen is Community Manager of Grand Central Tech.  Eddie started his career with a two year stint teaching at Brophy Preparatory in Phoenix and one year playing professional rugby in Australia before heading back to the Big Apple.
In noticing some inefficiencies in how students are trained for jobs, Eddie founded his first startup Bridge.  He developed a video game replicating the professional environment for Portfolio Managers with the goal of tracking and improving the employability skills of students.  Recently, Eddie directed the sole incubator at Fordham University, while overseeing all operations, programming, and strategy.  Besides taking the lead on building the Fordham Foundry, Eddie specializes in customer development and experiential education for entrepreneurs.      Eddie is a Bronx native, but coincidentally born and raised only a few blocks away from Grand Central Tech.  A graduate of Fordham University, Eddie is also a graduate of Xavier High School.
