Panama City Startup Weekend 2016 - Learn, Network, Startup

Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, designing, and market validation. The weekend culminates with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders. This pitching offers another opportunity for critical feedback.  Anyone is welcome to pitch their idea and receive feedback from their peers.

Weekend events will involve more than the participants in the 54-hour event. Everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. If you want to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur, register now for the best weekend of your life! The event is a great opportunity to test ideas, meet potential co-founders, build the community in Northwest Florida and launch your next startup!

David Dyell
President & CEO

When he’s not launching successful start-ups, Dave is out enjoying the white sands and emerald waters of Panama City, Florida, with his wife and three children. That said, for the past 2+ decades, he’s been busy building award-winning healthcare IT companies. Most recently, in 2008, he founded and led iSirona, a company that, by 2013, grew by more than 3,000 percent. To no one’s surprise, he was named a state finalist for the 2014 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. A former Galaga arcade champion and self-confessed “total sci-fi nerd,” Dave can only let an average of six months pass before he watches both Star Wars trilogies.

Corey Smith
Facilitator / Organizer

At 16, Corey ran an offset printing press for his father.

At 21, after a mission for his church in Albania, he bought and sold printing and graphics services. Corey taught himself how to use a $400 Macintosh to produce graphics that he could sell. IKON Office Solutions then hired him to use his self-taught graphics skills to run a graphics department for them in Salt Lake City in 1998… the same year Corey married his beautiful bride, Jennifer.

Together, Jen and Corey have five wonderful children.

Corey has always had a passion for business, technology and education. So, after working in the office equipment industry for over 8 years, teaching graphic design for Web at University of Utah, serving as a Color Systems Specialist for Canon USA, and going back to school for an undergraduate in Information Technology and a Master in Business administration, both from University of Phoenix, he started Tribute Media in 2007.

Corey has recently turned the reigns of Tribute Media over to a long-time trusted employee and friend and moved on to the role of Founder/Chief Vision Officer. He is now ready for his next move -- to start up something new
